I downloaded software and when i clicked to run it, windows warned me that i shouldn't because it might harm my pc. what's going on, is that normal?

Answer:

Yes its normal, it is just windows defender doing its job. In the case of sourceforge you can trust the source and download it.

Just looking for a free program that will open ai files. now after reading this, i am hesitant to download inkscape from sourceforge. comments?

You can download Inkscape, as well as any other program from SourceForge safely. SourceForge scans all downloads for malware and has since 2016.

I always do research before i commit to any new downloads for programs that can do real damage to my os. i have conflicted feelings about this company and what you are offering. it all sounds great and something i would love, but not sure? any advice/information that would reassure me and stop the warning bells? thanks, kg
