POOR Customer Service
We have been loyal customers prior to, through, and since the pandemic. Sadly, AMC has not been loyal to us. We have rewards available, but are unable to use them. I send emails and get an automatic response to which I cannot respond. Time to look for other avenues. They never had the human touch, but now they don't even have an automatic algorithm to respond correctly. Seriously BAD SERVICE.

AMC is a large large network of movie theaters. In the past, this place was relatively good. It had chicken in stock, good quality and good service, and a big, big menu. Lately, at least at my location the place has gone down significantly. The "gourmet" popcorn is stale and cold, and the chicken is out of stock. They don't even have the sliders anymore. It was terrible. So much money for something stale and cold. We were fuming.

I have been going to this theaters for many years now. Due to COVID and my age, I wear a mask and neck gaiter for the double protection for being around people. When I got out of the bathroom after getting there, one of their personnel, possible their manager, told me that my double coverage is not good enough for them. I had to take off my protection and use their N-95 mask. I asked the guy if I can double up on mask and said I could wear my mask over that one and he said yes.

If that wasn't bad enough, I thought they spaced out people in the theaters. Then why was someone sitting directly behind me? Do I feel safe without my extra layer of protection? Hell no! I put on my neck gaiter since this guy behind me sounded like he was eating, thus no mask.

When I got out of the theater, I wanted to tell the manager about the seating arrangement. He wasn't there so I rather warn all you people of what to expect when you go here; possible COVID infection because I can't wear my extra layer of protection and they can't enforce the spacing in their theaters.

After having shoulder surgery and unable to sit through a movie coming up I requested a refund via AMC App. We received the ticket amount but they kept the "Convenience Fee"? I didnt think that was Right.

While an AMC gift card doesn't "expire", the physical card will. So, I have $100 frozen on a card. I called the number on the back of the gift card, spoke to a representative who gave me directions, I followed the directions (sent an email with proof of purchase / photos of the cards). This was supposed to prompt AMC to send me replacement cards. I was told it would take 6 weeks. It has now been 11 weeks with no response. When I call the phone number, the representative tells me they will "expedite" it for me. But nothing happens. So, basically AMC will take the money you put on the cards if you don't use the cards fast enough. This is an AMC SCAM.

There snacks are outrageously priced. A small snack cost me more than the movie! It is overpriced candy and sodas, net time I'm taking my backpack and smuggling in what I want to snack on!

I've visited AMC Fresh Meadows 7 ever since it was refurbished with super-plush seating & expensive concession treats and saw more than 50 movies at that venue. My husband and I had the misfortune to pick a film and a day where the cashier didn't warn us that the volume of the movie we were going to see, Nope (dir. By Jordan Peele), was playing. We were 2 of the 6 customers in that particular theater (it's a multiplex). I was blasted out of my seat by the unbearable/intolerable volume level and the addition of closed captioning at the bottom made it impossible to stay and watch the film. Another couple followed us out.

We went back to the cashier and questioned her silence about the eardrum-splitting volume and closed caption. She was unbothered and stated that 'sometimes that happens as if it's OK to spend $15/ticket to be tortured. We got our money back, but no apology and just a shrug when I asked her why she didn't tell us. There was no sign, no signage, no warning anywhere that ear-splitting volume and/or closed-caption was the order of the day!

I followed that up with a call to the manager who initially refused the call. When she did take the call she was combative, cut me off several times, was not apologetic and eventually - hung up. What little I did glean from her rudeness and response was that I should've received a refund and passes for another showing. I did not get an offer of any passes nor an apology at the time we were at the theater.

This manager refused to give her name - perhaps out of guilt or perhaps out of her rude business manner or lack of giving a damn. The ticket prices, the extremely unpleasant movie experience, and the manager who should be fired will forever keep us from that theater again. If you don't mind having your eardrums blown and your wallet emptied, only then would I suggest you visit this horrible theater. Otherwise, I'd frequent places where they value your business. Evidently, this is not the place that values good customer service or customers at all!

Tip for consumers:
Do not visit this theater if you want a pleasant experience with management that is customer friendly. You will not find decency here.

My review is purely from my experience with the AMC A-List subscription.

Honestly, it's a great idea- 3 movies/week. Lots of convenient locations. But a little pricey!

I tried it out because there was a promotion for one free month. Sounds too good to be true right? IT WAS. After the first month, I realized I just don't go to the movies enough to be paying $24/month (in my state of California, it costs more which is also annoying), so I tried to cancel.

The first moment of disappointment came when there was no way to cancel the subscription myself on the website or app. There were also NO CLEAR instructions on how to cancel. I don't understand why! I had to search through the FAQs and then chat with an online representative to get the cancellation process started.

I was then told I could NOT cancel because in small UNREADABLE print in the initial promotion email, I was locked in for another 2 months and could not cancel. So I would pay for an unwanted service for two more months. He said I could come back and cancel then.

So I came back to cancel. I barely used it. I regretted starting this so much. AMC Theaters are also less nice than I remember. The sound quality is not great and the seats and theater rooms seem outdated. But that's a whole other review. This attempt to cancel somehow ALSO did not work. I was told that I had to have canceled 5 business days before my next billing date. WHY WAS I NOT TOLD THAT THE LAST TIME I CONTACTED THEM? I told him, I didn't know and if he looked at my history I DIDN'T EVEN REALLY USE THE SERVICE.

My experience with AMC's customer service was terrible- there were so many hidden terms and conditions I never knew I signed up for. Each person I talked to was also so unhelpful. I had to message them another time to make sure that my subscription was canceled- they didn't event have the decency to confirm that.

WARNING: unless you want to be locked in forever or deal with customer service that just keeps telling you new rules without actually trying to help you- DO NOT SIGN UP FOR AMC A-LIST.

Tip for consumers:
It's easy to sign-up but SO hard to cancel.

What a terrible user experience.

Entered gift certificates that were verified and then they charged my credit card instead. No way to print a ticket, and when requesting the ticket to be sent by text is says it was sent and it wasn't. No online help.

I truly enjoy being an AMC Stubs member. I live on a limited income and decided to actually pay for the premiere Stubs Membership. With that membership I have saved over $250.00 in 2017. I get Free Upgrades in size for drinks and popcorn. They have specials like $5.00 Tuesdays. (I went to the movies every week for 2 months during that promotion.) Bonus points to see some movies, etc. I LOVE IT!

Usually I like to watch movies in the comfort of my own home. But sometimes there's a new release that I can't wait to see until it's available on the streaming services, so I go to my nearby AMC Movie Theater. I usually regret it because every time I go, the theaters are so stuffy I can hardly stand it!. The hallways and the lobby have nice flowing air, but not the theaters. This is sort of like false advertising IMO. I told guest services that I would have come to see the movie "Nefarious" AT LEAST two more times, but it was so uncomfortable that I would wait until it hits the streaming services. She just shrugged and turned her back on me. Such arrogance! But this movie, "Nefarious" was worth the discomfort! Typically, the professional critics are out of touch with what most audiences enjoy, and this movie is no exception. After watching an interview on YouTube with Eric Metaxas and Steve Deace, author, and executive producer of the "Nefarious" film, I immediately went out to see it. In one word, WOW! Not only is it theologically and Biblically sound, but it's also just a darn good "nail biting" movie. And it doesn't have even one F-bomb. It perfectly and truthfully explains the origins of evil. In the interview, Steve Deace explained the horrific spiritual warfare he and the other members of the production crew went through when making and promoting the film. This emboldened them even more and the movie is incredible and a must see! IMO, you should see this movie just to show the dark side that their tactics don't work. I was slightly concerned that I might experience some spiritual warfare just for watching it, so I said a little prayer before going and nothing at all materialized.

Our family goes to the movies often and has saved hundreds of dollars over the years with AMC's membership card which is only $14.99 per year. They recently ran a promotion and I renewed it online for only $9.99.

With the card movies are only $5 on Tuesdays which used to be for a limited time, but they brought it back indefinitely. You do have to buy your tickets at the box office to get the discount.

Popcorn and pop cost the price of the smaller size. If you buy a tub, you get a free refill. After you spend $100, you get a $10 credit. You even get your own shorter line for concessions. Our membership paid for itself after two visits.

I frequently get surveys about our experience. If you don't want to carry the card, there's an app that stores your number. The staff just scan it for the discounts.
