LAW SOCIETIES DO NOT REPRESENT OR HELP YOU! THEY EXIST TO REPRESENT THE LAWYERS! Law Societies in Canada are UNIONS FOR LAWYERS! The law societies consider you a nuisance. Your complaints will probably be dismissed out of hand by the law society. Law Societies protect lawyers from consumers, not consumers from lawyers! BEWARE, the law societies are the problem, not the solution! A Law Society will NOT pay you money, or make a lawyer pay you money, because of his or her incompetence or mistakes. BEWARE getting a lawyer's name from a law society referral. Lawyers who subscribe to law society referrals pay a fee to the law society, and when it is their turn they get the next referral. There is no checking of skills, experience, suitability or discipline history for your case! Law Societies will seldom do anything to help consumers with legitimate grievances, so BEWARE. They exist NOT for the protection of consumers from lawyers, but for the protection of lawyers from consumers. LAW SOCIETIES REPRESENT LAWYERS, NOT YOU. Even disbarred lawyers are quietly reinstated after the dust settles. Ask the Ontario Premier, his Attorney General and your MPP why Ontario does NOT have a dedicated, impartial, independent, third-party, arm's-length, non-lawyer LEGAL OMBUDSMAN!?
So I was in need of a lawyer and I found this link, input my situation: "I initiated a complaint to HR in regards to safety concerns, hostile work environment, racial discrimination, work harassment by management and unpaid wages along with other unprofessionalism in the work place.etc " and waited to be replied too. Canlaw's replies: "REJECTED. YOU ARE A DESPICABLE LIAR AND A FRAUD DO NOT CONTACT CANLAW EVER AGAIN OR WE WILL CALL THE POLICE " Obviously this is a joke right? This is definitely a fraud and needs to be removed from being searchable, the unprofessionalism left such a insanely disgusting taste.
No response after a couple of months, so I re-requested. The response I got was
"STOP HARASSING CANLAW, YOU LYING PIG."
All I did was ask for help - I tried to use the service they claim to provide - finding a lawyer. A second request after a month or more is "Harassment"? And somehow I lied when they don't even know the details of my problem, much less the truth or falsity of it?

This appears to be plaigerized from the CanLaw site with a few minor changes.
Ordered a will kit and could not open the file. Sent an email requesting a password and did not get a response. Was out $52.00 and had to cancel the charge on my credit card. Many people have complained about not being able to open divorce and will kits downloaded from Canlaw.

This company is run by a former ad executive who assaulted his wife and infant son in 1988. He served ten days of a thirty day sentence. The Law Society has published a warning about using Canlaw and cited some of it's interactions with the public.

CanLaw has been online for over 25 years dealing with about half a million people needing legal help We have never assaulted anyone ever although I thing this moron is a good candidate for a kick in the pants.
