“Basic Questions After Moved from Mint”

Jenae J.
1/29/24

I had a couple of basic questions re how Credit Karma works after I had to move over from Mint (can you download transactions to a spreadsheet and can you search for a specific transaction). I spent over 45 mins to get those answered and the answer was "no". Please don't waste my time when you could have answered my basic questions quite quickly. Ugh.

This place didn't keep my information or money safe. Worst banking app ever used the worst customer service ive ever dealt with and I do not recommend this banking app to anyone they are very unhelpful. The thief's name was all over my account and they still denied my disputed transactions. This banking app is one of worst banking apps out there. They don't do anything to protect your money or your information I've been trying to close my account sense cause who knows what information the thief has of mine but they won't close my account says they have to contact a higher level of people. Again worst banking app ever and highly suggest you do your banking business elsewhere cause this place is a joke when it comes to protecting your information and your money. Do bussiness here and you might just be a victim of fraud just like me.

I don't know where to start with this, its just that bad. I was a long time mint user and the fact that intuit thought this was even close to an alternative makes me question if they like being in business. Credit Karma tracks your credit score every day because who needs that kind of frequency? Either you have good credit and you don't really care about day to day fluctuation or you are working on your credit and real change doesn't happen over night, either way its not really necessary. The whole account is basically just a big scam to ram credit card offers down your throat. Everything links back to an advertisement for a new credit card. I used mint to track my spending across multiple accounts and by categories but credit karma refreshes my spending once a month and literally only lists the balance on that day, NOTHING MORE. IF you want anything more than this you have to sign up for their checking and spending accounts through them, and if you do that it still offers minimal information despite your "premium account" designation. It does offer some tips on how to improve your credit usage that may or may not be personalized but it usually directs you back to applying for a new credit card. It kept suggesting I upgrade my credit accounts and the offers it gave me had less rewards than I was already earning. The whole thing is sad and desperate, makes me really question Intuit's whole operation.

Wow! What a horrible downgrade. I've been forced out of Mint and forced to use Credit Karma. After being told the functionality would be there... Its just horrible.

The Good: Credit History. Net Worth.
The Bad: No tracking bills, No tracking budget, No tracking manual loans, No reports that you can customize, No almost everything that Mint provided.

Do yourself a favor and find a different service.

Do not put money on a CK debit card. If ur money gets taken, they automatically deny ur claim. All foreigners are handling ur money concerns. Do not risk it. U will never be able to speak to a manager or an American! I am very disappointed. One operator pretended to escalate my concerns and when l called back, l found out nothing was done. I received an email telling me to contact the vendor who frauded me. Horrible! I stopped my automatic deposits. Your money is not safe with these monsters!

Credit karma sent me a email saying if I wanted a new card I could check credit cards without it affecting my credit score. It was a lie as soon as I checked it my scores dropped over 30 points. Now they trying to lie again. I will be going over to credit sesame. I have Capital one. All my cards are paid on time. They will do everything to keep your credit down. Transunion immediately drop my score after I checked it. It was a prequalify for a card. Which shouldn't have affected my credit at all. So stop lying credit karma. Transunion is the worst of the three credit company's. And credit karma help them to make your credit bad.

Tip for consumers:
This is why people credit never get to where it should be. Because of these credit company's

Over the last 10 years we've noticed Credit Karma docks credit ratings in double digit increments then very, very slowly builds them back up in single digit increments even when you consistently pay credit cards off in full each & every month. They don't check balances frequently or consistently like Experian. It appears Credit Karma works to keep credit ratings low so lenders can charge customers more.
Note: Experian doesn't dock credit as severely as Credit Karma.

Tip for consumers:
Experian Credit Monitoring doesn't dock your credit rating as severely as Credit Karma and they're quick to build it back up because they check balances more frequently.
We've consistantly paid all of our credit card balances in full over the last 20 years so we don't pay any interest charges... yet Credit Karma will sometimes go 2 months adding up balances without showing we paid off previous months. Lousy business.

Last 4 month's l had a lot of inquiries on my credit, a few collections and an eviction. I needed to buy a house in about 1-2 months so. I needed to get my credit ASAP fixed, l saw positive reviews about SKYPLUS760 CREDIT SOLUTION on credit Karma here so I contacted them (Skyplus760 credit solution at gmail dot com). Within 7 business working days, they help me removed eviction, cleared up all inquiries, collections and raised my score from 539 to 809 excellent score. I got a home after 2 weeks, l now live comfortably with my family. Cheers…

I signed up for Credit Karma free. I read most of the promotional blabber they provided and signed up at the end of TurboTax 2023. It sounded OK.
NO NO NO. IT IS NOT OK!
Within less than 24 hours I had received 2 or more unsolicted spams from credit card companies. That has been followed by daily spams from other companies I would have no interest in. That was not happening before I signed up for Credit Karma. I do not have hard evidence linking this sudden flood of SPAM to Credit Karma, but you be the judge.
I strongly recommend that you trust nothing about Credit Karma unless you have no regard for your privacy.
And since this was offered as a freebee after purchasing TurboTax 2023, I can find no proof of purchase to attach.

Tip for consumers:
Credit Karma is a product of "Intuit" that is offered free when you use TurboTax 2023. I do not recommend TurboTax because of their hostile marketing methods, and because they promote products that definitely seem to compromise user privacy and security.

Products used:
Credit Karma is a "service". It is offered free, apparently because they compromise your data to other vendors.

They locked my account for not reason. Called multiple times, they say they can't help. 6 days later still no access to my money and the meme we support team is a $#*!ing joke. They don't care as they laugh at people not having assess to pay bill even though I expressed I have children needing things. This place and people are a POS. Don't trust this bank. You will never give the level of service you need from a real bank.

Credit Karma is a scam of a company, do not open an account and give them your money. Once you do they'll mysteriously freeze your account denying you access to your money for weeks and not respond to your emails other than with the same form email that its under review. It seems there are hundreds, if not more, other people that this is happening to also. I see a potential class action lawsuit in their future.

On a clear score, my credit was less than 463, and I was slightly skeptical but decided to give this an opportunity. Cyberdon@ techie. Com has done more than fix my credit. He has helped me better my knowledge of credit opportunities. I will refer him to any of my friends or family with any bit of credit discrepancies. I am now ready to continue improving my score and not worry about getting approved for the things I want and need in life!

There are so many "free" credit report sites out there with odious names like "Triple Advantage" that con you into paying a monthly fee to monitor your credit rating. Credit Karma is free with no weird issues. I do suspect the information is less detailed than some other sites... but there are no costs involved. No mysterious charges showing up after you thought you got something free.

It's not 5 stars though because it could be better. My credit score swings between 720 and 800+ mostly depending on my balances. If I have a higher balance one month then it can go down. I haven't used the tax services they have advertised. I think I will stick with TurboTax.

Adding a trade line to my report used credit karmas "very good" approval recommendation and was denied. Then Credit Karma sends me a email 2 hours later about how I should get a credit card and the first one was the same card I was denied for 2 hours prior. Credit Karma you're GARBAGE. Erase your app. This should be illegal. Actually I'm going to get the evidence I need. Thank you for prying on peoples hopes to better themselves deny them then ask them to try again within a movie time period.

Tip for consumers:
Erase it and don’t damage your credit by what they say your approval odds are. They are a business just trying to make money and your credit is the cost. Terrible to use. Go with MY FICO or PRIVACYGUARD

Due to a negative balance of $0.60 which I wasn't aware of or thought was possible. I've lost a $700 tax return. Was told I would receive it via mail months ago and now its a game of "we don't have it, they must" between credit karma and the IRS. NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE.

I have used the website and have recently downloaded the app, I have found it to be quite useful. I am able to compare the big 2, TransUnion, and Equifax side By side. I discovered an error on my credit report from both agencies and started to file a dispute with both companies. Credit karma was very helpful with this challenge. TransUnion has resolved my dispute and corrected it, while Equifax did not allow me to go thru Credit karma to file the dispute, making me do it from their website instead. See my previous review of eq. I am STILL waiting for them to correct it. I find that the app is very useful for monitoring my credit score

I watch my cards and pay them off before the first bill. But half a month before the bills due date you will see the score drop. Because you used a card. They do it so that way they lowered your score before you paid off the bill. Oh and when you do pay it, be lucky if they raise it again but it won't be as much as they took from you. Totally illegal..

Tip for consumers:
Just don't let them screw you over, cause there is noone to turn to for help when it comes to wrongfully lowering someone's credit score

Although they say they're current, they are not. For example: I've had one credit card paid off for over 2 weeks and it still shows I owe about 50 percent of the limit. Credit Karma says they update daily. That is tough because I'm trying to monitor my credit so I can use it better.

Credit Karma suggested credit card by Mission Bank, by which they said I had excellent chance to be approved for or Credit Karma would send me $50. Instead they ran hard inquiry, did not approve the card and my credit score dropped 32 points. I so debated not to apply, but instead I did. When Credit Karma guarantees you $50, figure you have a good chance to gain. Advice: Don't take their chance!

No longer up to date information.

"Oops! Something went wrong"

Experian & Equifax information is more damaging than helpful.

Not every single credit card payment information has been updated; yet the purchases/expenses have. I feel it is intentional to show more than 29% credit usage and thus lower your credit score!

Transunion-try to dispute online and it tells you an error can occurred to call. Transunion wants to charge a membership fee.

Experian-you can still see what they have listed as your credit score for free. They also provide what Equifax's and Transunion's have as a credit score for you.

The only free credit check I've ever seen online. They say that it's just so because the score is estimated rather than a raw credit score, but they let you know about where you stand and how to improve your standing, as well as projecting consequences for missed payments and the like. Pretty good for the average joe who's making some attempt at staying on top of his score.
