“Design Public is like a cheaper version of design within...”

Design Public is like a cheaper version of design within reach and with better selections and better customer service. They carry the real brands like Knoll and they don't have the cheap knock offs. The only drawback is the shipping time.

“Garbage customer service, garbage product”

Don't even bother. There are a million "design" stores online, DP has slow, clueless customer service and dumps responsibility for broken items on their manufacturer and/or shipping company. Completely unhelpful. Have spent years buying items like this as a designer and this is absolutely, 100% the worst experience and waste of money I've ever encountered. Would give a negative 5 stars, if I could.

Returned a bowl that was too small and wrong color. Wasn't used and returned it as soon as I could—(Took 4 emails to finally get instructions on how to return). They claimed it was "scuffed" and charged me 20% of price for "scuffs" which must have been there when I got it— honestly, there was nothing wrong with the bowl. They sent these ridiculous photos of "damage" I couldn't even see. I'd give zero stars if I could!

Purchased the Satomi rug. Has not stopped shedding in 6 months. Has thinned out considerably
Reported to Design Public. The rug was $1000 at the time. They offered me a $50 credit to w future purchase. WHAT? Do NOT purchase anything from them. They do NO quality control and you cant review their products conveniently

I had already seen the horrible reviews and warnings about Design Public before ordering a Cane-line outdoor sofa. Unfortunately, Design Public is one of the few Cane-line vendors in the USA.

I waited several months for the sofa to arrive which it finally did in December 4th. Unfortunately, it arrived in pieces due to damage during shipping. I did not accept the item and it was returned.

I called their customer service number several times and was constantly given the run-around. They insisted on replacing it when l wanted a refund. They contacted me a few days later to say that they had refunded me. Well, they never refunded me! I paid through PayPal and would have received a notification from PayPal as soon as the refund process had begun.

Almost two weeks has gone by and still no refund, just a lot of dishonesty and unscrupulous business practices on the part of Design Public. I have escalated a claim with PayPal to get back the money that is owed to me.

Stay far, far away from this unethical, dishonest company.

I have never had such a bad experience purchasing something online. I placed an order back on Jan 2,2018. The item never shipped based on their estimate, so I had to send multiple emails to their customer service. More than a month later, I still didn't receive the item, but they already billed me. At that point, I can tired of dealing with their lack of customer service, so I told them to cancel my order. After disputing with the charge through my credit company twice, they finally know they can't wins this dispute, since the item was never delivered, they decided to slap me with over $1,303 in fees (restocking, restorage, shipping, etc). So I will need to dispute again (for the 3rd time) through my credit card company. And at this point, I'm looking into taking them to small claims court, because this is just ridiculous. I have never had such a terrible experience with a purchase, especially one that never got delivered! Believe me, avoid this company like it's the plague. There are plenty of other review sites with bad ratings of Design Public.

First time, last time customer here. This merchant engages in 'bait and switch' tactics.

I ordered a discounted "open box" item- a $900 chair for around $600. My card was charged. Instead of notice the chair was on the way, I soon got an e-mail from "Lauren" informing me the item was "no longer available." No reference to a pending refund, just tough luck, and some links suggesting I pick up an ugly, cheap looking patio chair for $499- instead of the oak framed name brand item I had ordered.

When I called to ask how they can sell an item, take the price advertised from your account, and then send an e-mail stiffing the person who ordered from them without referring to a refund, "Lauren" told me: "We can't complete a sale until we charge your card." Hilarious- according to them, the sale was "completed," you just don't get the item, and have to call to get your refund. After that little chat, I later got an e-mail informing me the refund to my card would take 3-5 days- and keep in mind, this was after I had to call to ask for what should have been automatic, once they cancelled the sale.

Speaking as an attorney, this is worse than just a crappy customer relations practice- it's a breach of contract. If you sell an item, and take the money from the customer, and you oversold, that's on the merchant.

In sum: if you see a list price on Design Public, take it with a big chunk of salt. Reading through the other reviews here this morning, I can see that their poor service it not limited to 'open box' overselling.
