This site is very useful for finding information on Self sustainability and things around the home and garden, the members are friendly and are always glad to give you advise on things. The chat feature is a great way to get to know the members and find out information to any queries you may have and they usually get answered quickly, the moderating staff are nice and very good at keeping the peace which is very good on any site :)

I love this site people have been very friendly and helpful. I have disagreed with people and never have felt at all like anyone was being rude. I have seen the Mods on action they have in my opinion been more than fair to any user that has been out of line. I will go back on a regular basis!

I love this site and the people are extremely kind, funny and helpful. Its a great place to be yourself and have fun in chat. I have posted in the forums as well as I have learned lots of new things and gotten great ideas from others as welll. Great site, Great people. As to the negative feedback to the mods... they are doing their job. We are allowed to disagree, just not be disrespectful to others. Everyone is allowed to have their opinion, as with all chats and forums you get in trouble only when you cross the respect line.

This is a great community of very helpful, knowledgeable people. Many subjects are covered like gardening, canning, and raising a variety of livestock, with a particular emphasis on urban farming. The chat room is a great way to connect with other people with similar interests. As far as the mods go, they are very fair in my opinion. A chat room is a very hard thing to moderate, there are always a few bad apples, but they do a good job of keeping things family friendly. Of course they have low tolerance for any trouble makers, and that is the way it should be! I spend a lot of my free time on this site, and even though it says Seattle, there are members from all over the US and even some members from other countries.

Great website, great friendly helpful people. Have connected with many old and new friends. Very helpful site and growing.

I love this site. I am learning so much for my veggie garden this year. I also enjoy the chat where I can chat about my chickens to people who understand. The people are nice and very helpful.

DIY is a great place to go to meet like minded self sufficient urban farmer type folks. The forum is great and informative, and covers a good many subjects for a new forum site. The chatroom is good and the people tend to be great. Like anywhere you tend to have a few bad apples or attention seeker types, also like other sites there is a tad bit of favor showing with a few. DIY is nowhere near as opinionated as other sites and public forums as I've been to. Its a pretty close little community of people that are willing to help you out and give advice as needed. I reccommend it for anyone into backyard farming, and those who are looking to become self sufficient.

At first everyone is nice and cool with you, but if you do something wrong then the mods will get after you in a heart beat. You don't have the right to stand up for yourself which isn't cool at all.
If you don't know what you are talking about then you get in trouble or yelled at. Really rude moderators
