“A cesspool of scammers”

I had a one-year subscription to eharmony, and in that time received about 10 matches, half of which were scammers, looking for money or online sex. I reported everyone of them and the selection never got better. I learned not to trust anyone on this site. Do not join. There is no screening at the eharmony site and there are many many bad actors on the app.

Hello, I signed thinking it's a one month plan and cancelled it believing I'm all set. Then out of no where I received notices that I still owe over $148 for 6 month plan. And I was sent to collections to my shock. I just setup to pay off the balance and I can't even use the site anymore. They're scammers and I wish I can sue them!

Tip for consumers:
Please. Stay away from E-Harmony. They will scam you out of your money!

Horrible company. The app is old, poorly structured and ended up with zero dates. That's not even the worst part, I closed my account and they tried to bill me over $500 for the renewal I didn't approve. And when I didn't pay they sent me threatening emails saying they are going to send it to collections. Horrible company, will never recommend.

There were only like 20 guys in my area on eharmony, 19 of which were not my type at all. I messaged customer service asking for a cancellation because of the quality and quantity of matches and they refused plus told me I was stuck on the hook for 3 months at$85 a month. Ridiculously expensive and not even an inkling of help to get me any closer to finding someone who I'd like.

Eharmony advertised deal for $12.95/month for first 3 months and then normal $25.90/month. However, they charged me $139 and then wanted more. I disputed it but they put it in collection and my final damage ended up being over $550. Absolute false advertising and bait-and-switch.

Title was a mouthful, yet I feel it is necessary to give a proper back drop story. I've been involved in numerous online sites on and off like most folks. The experience with these guys was par for the course. A lot of the problems spring from the types of people using the app and the tech support people who review everything done by participants. I joined up and paid in October 2020. Like anyone new I had a few women send me messages and several view my profile. November came and I stopped logging in until January. I met several quality women in the winter and dated one for a couple of months. We broke up and I logged back on in March. I started to notice that my profile was hardly ever viewed like it was in the fall and winter. People had stopped flirting as well. The interest level was really non existent. Another thing I did hate technically about e-harmony was the ability for people (or tech people to make it appear it was someone) to block others so easy. For instance, when I met the woman I dated for two months in January, I announced on my profile I was in a relationship. So, that I could be kind and fair to people. A viewer of my profile did not like my honesty and regurgitated my statement to me in a message with another message attached to it that she'd blocked me. The site has a pathetic way of announcing you're blocked by stating: 'so and so says GOODBYE.' Once they use that feature you cannot send them a message. I got blocked by a woman I never contacted. I suggested to admin they needed to change this feature so that no 'bad blood' would make the experience aggravating for users. They could not understand why I'd purvey such healthy dignity in how I was to be treated. I also suggested a couple of weeks ago they use a feature like Tinder (even though Tinder is garbage) to set it up where my matches could only be women who had indicated they were physically attracted to my photo or I was in their age range. It makes sense to only want to flirt with people you know would flirt back. I got a response stating that 'they want to give us as many matches as possible and LET US DECIDE'. What that told me was they wanted to keep up appearances that there were more good matches than in reality. I don't have magazine cover looks, yet when I go out in every day life 50% find me attractive 50% don't. I do about average like most well rounded men would do. You get on a site like this. One week you feel like you have something to offer. 4 months later for 8 weeks you feel dog, ugly. Maybe I just went through a batch of good women, then a batch of bad ones. It was just real peculiar how that worked. When I paid for 9 months I announced I was not renewing during the onset of the contract. I'm a guy in my forties looking to date younger out of necessity in wanting a family of my own. The women I encountered on E-harmony were mostly socially inept, insecure 'church' type people. Those tend to be more restrictive in things like age. This is not a good site for seekers of age gap relationships. No one told me that... I just sensed it. Then again it's hard to know if my profile was hidden at times or I was intentionally mismatched with women in the end so I'd crave more matches and pay for a new subscription. Two days before my paid membership expired I attempted to announce on my profile I was no longer a paying customer and could not communicate if messaged. I want to be fair to people. I got an email from tech support stating I was not allowed to announce it. Seems as paying customers we have the right to announce what we want to announce. Makes me wonder why they don't condone integrity. That same day I opened my message box to see that I'd been blocked again. This time for liking someone's comment. No message, just pressing the 'thumbs up' button. I know there are some grasping people online, but still felt it was improbable someone would block me for that. I honestly didn't remember even viewing their profile. Usually when you do there is a mechanism on the left of your profile showing who you had interaction with. I don't remember seeing the 'ghost' member who had supposedly blocked me on that list anywhere. I remembered I accidently set up two accounts from October. It appeared tech support was up to some shenanigans trying to get me angry again about being blocked by a member I barely contacted, if I had at all. Before that I had announced on my profile I was not renewing and was going inactive. The pattern was as the time before. When I either announced I was going inactive or taking a break then, all the sudden, I'd supposedly get blocked by someone. I also announced on my profile that morning: "This account is inactive. Membership expired." I got a notice that my new profile message was not accepted. I went back and wrote: This account is inactive. I never got another message telling me to change it. I think they realized they couldn't win. The same type of thing happened with my account on Match.com about a decade ago. From my accidental first account I noticed the day after my legitimate, used account expired I got a message claiming a woman two hours away had sent me a message. After months of not getting anything happening on that account from both ends. I already deleted my used account. Still working to delete my accidental one, I had to use a password. When I requested an email to allow me to change it to finally delete, it never arrived in my inbox. Pathetic. The tech support people who run these sites are vindictive, insecure people who want to control others. They lose their crap when they come across someone assertive. You have to decide whether you want to leave your dating fate up to these types of factors you can't control compared to walking up and introducing yourself on the street. I finish this review better off knowing I'll go down to the local coffee shop and get a smile and a flirty message from the barista behind the counter. I'll do that instead to get a sense of what is real in how I fit into the dating paradigm.

Tip for consumers:
Vindictive and insecure tech support monkeys. Not good for age gap dating.

Way too expensive with an awful cancellation policy. They make you pay an excessive amount to use the site and give you horrible options where you are locked in having to pay for unused months of service that you don't even want to use. Contacted customer service and they refuse to give you a refund even if you want to delete your account.

EHarmony is a great dating site for anyone who is serious about finding a long-term partner. EHarmony uses a scientific approach to match you with compatible singles who share your goals and interests. I found my perfect match on eHarmony and we are now happily married.

I subscribed to eharmony. The site is not a good dating site. The bank account I gave eharmony for billing was subsequently closed. When the renewal was not paid, eharmony cut off the service to me. Then, eharmony turned me over to collections for almost a thousand dollars they say i owe under the contract even though they cut off the service. What a scam.

Barely any men online for matches. The ones that are look like something out of the walking dead. Now for almost a month I have no been able to log in and the daiting site has done nothing about it. For 25 pound a month I am being robbed. But it doesn't matter as the site is awful. Please single men or woman stay well clear it's dodgy as hell saying that so are the men usually on these sites

Tip for consumers:
Just awful site and no communication
I can not log in for ages and they have done nothing to solve the problem.
They are only concerned about taking your money that's it.
The men on the site look awful the very few that are in the site .

Their claims are totally baseless. They are only out for your money and don't have any clear adherence to your boundaries for preferences. No quality matches Even the deadlines for your subscription are not met. They charged me long after. Total scam

Tip for consumers:
They claim there’s a refund policy but it’s bogus

Shun this 'service' that has had huge numbers of negative reviews on line! Sorry to say that perception is not reality in the case of this dating service. All the promotion on line is self-serving and very strictly limited as to what is available to prospective members UNTIL THEY SIGN A $$$ CONTRACT!. In most states there is no 'cooling off period' to allow for cancellation if misrepresentation no matter how flagrant that is present...as in Idaho. Matches are NOT based on my priorities that I carefully put together. After paying one learns furthermore, many of the 'prospective recommended' individuals have no photos making it impossible to decide if it is worth following up on. The expensive and 'very long lasting memberships' are clearly designed to maximize their cash profit at EHarmony with no way to cancel after it is found to be a worthless 'service'. It appears that their service is designed to take advantage of lonely people going through tough episodes of divorce, spousal death, or just separation. Also I have tried to revise and narrow down with filters to no avail. After 3 days of this nonsense I am going to challenge my bill with my credit card company as this service appears to border on fraudulent behavior. A non-cancellation policy based on deliberate misrepresentation or especially outright fraud is non-enforceable according to court findings.

Tip for consumers:
I have to believe that their own reviews are fictitious since the reviews I've read in online review sources are uniformly horrible.

Products used:
Never used the service as it seemed bogus, of no help to me at all!

Pretty impressed by eHarmony. I've been using wejustfit.com successfully for around two years and had a few days and even a relationship on the site, but someone said I should try eHarmony as well and it's actually not bad. I figured it was all just marketing, but I think I will probably get a date on this. Between the two sites, I should really boost my chances of finding someone serious. Here's hoping. Kate J x

Verified purchase

After a lengthy review process they ask you to sign up at a ridulous monthly rate and then charge six months minimum. I was cross-eyed after the review process and didn't pay attention. In two minutes of "joining" I wanted out. No way to filter for Asian women which I specifically wanted. I'm new at dating websites.

I tried a trial over a year ago and just got charged $90 without warning... Apparently the trial I did automatically signs me up for new memberships. Customer care doesn't care and is ignorant to my complaint, can't talk to a human neither. Boooooo!

Tip for consumers:
They told me it's in the policy and that I signed up for it. I did not sign up for anything and now they want $400 with $90/mo payments....

They blur the picture before you sign. Brag about their success ratios. All are tricks to deceive you and squeeze money out of you. Only a few women are using this app, so I almost had no dates there over a course of 4 month. This is while in other apps I have several a week even if I use the free version. I asked them to return my money back as they provided no service and they refused.

I signed up for what I thought was a month, only to be billed over $200. Read the fine print. It is impossible to call them so I left an email explains my plight and they said no refunds. I am attractive, thin and realistic. I have had very little activity and believe there are a lot of bots there as literally no one responds. It's a scary place. I don't recommend it at all.

They make it as hard as they can to communicate about your account with them, but have no problem holding YOU accountable (no refunds) for automatic renewals! Phone numbers they give you to communicate with them are bogus and won't even go through when you call to talk to them. DO NOT give them your credit card number!

Tip for consumers:
I’ve read lots of reviews on eHarmony from people that have experienced the same things I have, and it’s very unfortunate that a business like this continues to get away with this. I tried blocking them from charging against my credit card in the future, but have to change my number to do that. Very unsettling when you can’t trust a business that is SUPPOSED to be a trusted business!

If you want to throw your money away….Don't sign a contract. They will not let you out and you lose money….This is worse than any free site. I had a six-month subscription to eHarmony, and in that time received about 20 matches, not one responded and the ones that did were scammers. I thought by the reputation eHarmony has and the price you pay would be a great site to join. I reported to eHarmony and all I get is a response that they removed the profile and not to communicate with member. I learned not to trust anyone on this site. Do not join. There is no screening at the eHarmony site that they say they do.

Tip for consumers:

The "chemistry" matching is a joke. I've yet
To find ANYONE that has similar interests or ideals. I don't drink alcohol and there is no criteria to weed that out so I continue I have to address if after matching/chatting. I am more "left" leaning and I have been matched twice with almost offensive right-wing nuts. The caliber of men I've come across is not impressive. AND they don't give you an option to do a month so they lock you in to bleed you dry! DON'T DO IT!

Tip for consumers:
Don’t do it! They lock you in to a 6-month membership before even seeing the sight so when you realize it’s total and utter crap, there’s no way to get out!
