“I had my Imac computer fixed by Geekavailable earlier...”

I had my Imac computer fixed by Geekavailable earlier this week, after finding them online. Could not be happier :) Price was fair and customer service was absolutely awesome. I dropped my computer off on Monday morning and got it back same day (only $199 for a 320 GB installed, pretty much half of I was quoted at the Apple Store). All possible stars for Rod and his crew!

“Very frustrating”

Very frustrating. A simple request to upgrade from XP to Win7 on an otherwise working PC landed me to pay for a complete set of memory sticks. There was nothing wrong with the old set. It took me over five returns to the shop to finally got my PC working properly. Bottom line is you won't see me doing business with this shop again.

READ YELP TO GET THE REAL STORY ON THIS PLACE!

If there were a NEGATIVE star, I would certainly use it for this place. I'm also glad to see that I'm not the only one who thought this place pretty much sucks! Price gouging and bait/switch is what the description on the Web Site should be...

I took my Macbook Pro in that will boot up but has no video and they wanted me to pay over $150.00 with absolutely NO guarantee that it would be fixed. That was for basic troubleshooting and cleaning up the inside. Then, if that didn't fix it - they would then troubleshoot the components. I asked it they could trouble shoot the components first, before cleaning (to possibly save the 100.00) and they said no. Potentially - this could have cost as much as getting a NEW motherboard on Ebay for 300.00 - without the guarantee they can actually fix it.

So - am now bidding for a motherboard to replace it myself. Luckily, I am in the field of technology and know when I'm being taken advantage of when it comes to this kind of work. Apparently taking a computer apart (in their words) takes quite a bit of work. I can talk my 14 year old niece through it in 10 minutes! These guys are full of it.

DON'T TAKE YOUR EQUIPMENT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF!

Here is a place in Fremont, CA that won't charge you unless they actually fix it and you can ship it there for cheap:

Hope this never happens to you - Had to have hard drive replaced. No problem. Lasted 64 days, then that one failed. Took it in, they said everything was fine (paid $49.00). Brought it home, plugged it in, and computer did not work. Nothing had been done to it. It was Friday. Had to wait till Monday morning to bring it back. Told I would be prioritized for quick service. End of day, computer had not been repaired. Had to go back next day to pick it up. Asked for $49 charge to be refunded, since nothing was done. "Manager" gave lame excuse and dismissed the fact that they didn't get it right the first time. Got runaround from beginning to end. Very disappointed. Did not get refund. Very unhappy customer. Took 6 days to have a second hard drive replaced. Not acceptable.

I had a great experience with them. Service was done same day. I loved all the tips they gave me on how to have my 3-year old laptop running as a new one. Thank you, guys! I'll recommend you to everybody I know :)
