I decided to give my sister a break and take the girls to the city for the day. I found out about this program and thought it would be good to have an educational and fun day. The girls LOVED it and being in the city with auntie all day. I would highly recommend it and an introduction to what politics is an more importantly global politics. Cheers to Ms. Mitchem, the founder, great idea!
Like others, our event was cancelled and GIP has been giving me the run around for six months. These folks are unethical and do everything possible to avoid refunding clients $ when events are cancelled. At some point, I will make public the many emails they sent promising the check is in the mail or it is PayPal's fault. Etc. Etc.

Tip for consumers:
Do not sign up for the camps, they cancel and then make you wait months for a refund.

My daughter loves this program. She is 11 years old, was elected Vice President and is inspired to start a government club at school. The instructors are thorough, knowledgeable and kind.
Tip for consumers:
Sign up early. Camps sell out fast.

My girls learned more at the one day Atlanta event than in a semester civics. Excellent workbook and knowledgeable instructors who actually work on Capitol Hill. My girls were mesmerized that young women like them are working in politics. Great job Girls in Politics, mission accomplished!
Tip for consumers:
Very organized from ticketing to dismissal.
My wife signed me and my daughter up for the Daughter/Father camp. It was a perfect day. She can't wait to share all she has learned with family this Thanksgiving. After getting a 'fundraising' call from my daughter/candidate, my brother-in-law decided to attend the Father's Day program with his girls next year. We highly recommend this program and thanks Girls in Politics for including us dads.
Signed, Proud Dad of a future President
Though my daughter had some knowledge of the systems of government, this experience blew her away. The field trips to the places where the systems come to life were invaluable and have created lasting impressions about her roll in the society. The tours to sites relevant to individual contributors to the shaping of this nation were a welcome and pleasant surprise. Overall a great experience.
My son participated in the boys' version of Girls in Politics and had a great time. The boys got chance to have interesting lectures and activities. They also got an opportunity to see Congress in action.
Paid for my daughter's camp that has been cancelled. They promised to refund in full but suddenly the whole team got sick and they just feed me with constant excuses. They also blocked me on FB and don't show my comments. Scammers!
My group scheduled a workshop with Girls in Politics in Jan 2020, did all the leg work to register 40 participants (including coordinating carpools) who were looking forward to the workshop, and it was cancelled THREE HOURS BEFORE by the organizers. After 6 months of wasted time attempting to get my promised refund from the company, it was only through my credit card company that I got my money back. This is a pattern by the organization -- look at all the similar reviews on this site and the DC Better Business Bureau with evidence of the same behavior.
I cannot say how much my daughter and I love this initiative, and she always talks about how attending Camp Congress 2017 was one of her best memories. And because of that her younger sisters are looking forward to attending when they are old enough. You will always have faithful supporters in this family. And we look forward to Camp CEO in 2020

Prompt responses, very organized and timely
As a fourth grade teacher, I asked Ms. Kimberly Mitchem -Rasmussen to present to my class about how our government works. Specifically how voting works, choosing a candidate, campaigning among other topics. My students were so engaged with the way she presented the material. They gain total understanding of our voting system, but most importantly, they understood that every vote counts.
Overall my experience having Ms. Rasmussen as a guess speaker in my class was not only educational, but inspirational. Many of my girls develop a sense of voice and became more actively involved in the class.
Thank you again for such a wonderful presentation.
Love the Mini Camp Congress class for my 6 year old twins. The girls learned so much and so did I. We are taking the next class offered.
We highly recommend these camps for all girls considering today's political climate! My daughters and my nieces have attended three different Girls in Politics Initiative camps. I wanted my girls to understand the political process and they learned more than we could have imagined. I've attended political trainings for women and not learned the information included the Girls in Politics Initiative workbooks. Our Girl Scout troop will be hosting a Girls in Politics private event in the spring of 2020.
Australians please be aware that this organisation is no longer as it used to be. They take money, don't provide services and just feed you with promises to refund. Making money using children is a terrible thing to do. This company was reported to the Fair Trade in Australia and similar US organisation.

I cannot recommend these camps highly enough! My daughter was lucky enough to participate in one of the Girls in Politics camps and got to build a campaign, plan a platform to run on, even make those uncomfortable calls requesting campaign funding. These invaluable skills must be taught and the earlier, the better! In the currently polarized political climate, having a real understanding of our political systems is critical for being part of a democracy and knowing how to effect the change that is important to you personally. Girls In Politics allows a group that is often overlooked educationally to be the focus, empowering girls to see their value, their worth and their power. It is a critical and highly effective addition to girls' education. I wish it could be a required part of the curriculum!
Girls in Politics promised me a refund for a camp they canceled last summer. I have been asking for my promised refund of over $700 for 5 months and all I get are excuses or ignored. Horrible customer service.
GIP is a wonderful civics and government program that my 11yo and 14yo daughters loved. I wish that I had been able to attend a class like this when I was younger. The girls now know they can be politicians and they know how to make it happen. Kudos to Girls in Politics!
My daughter was registered for a Girl in Politics workshop in October of 2019 in Toronto, Canada, it was cancelled 2 days before. I have emailed and called Girls in Politics several times, and I am still waiting for my money back. It is now January 2020.
I attended a one day mother daughter Girls in Politics day. I was with a group of 5 and our group collectively paid just over $1100 for a full day- and we all left pretty disappointed and feeling pretty duped. 1. The founder is quite impressive and works in campaign management & the stories about insider work are pretty awesome. 2. The founder does not appear to be an educator- all written material and oral delivery is not done with thought to what works best when educating a group of diverse aged and skilled girls (the day camp was marketed to girls ages 8-15). 3. The session was incredibly disorganized, with cheap snacks and food for a full day of study and work. 4.Our session went from 8-5 and from 8-2 the girls were lectured about our nation's political system. No visuals were used other than the dense handout written at a high school level. Actual work on campaigning was rushed through from 2-5.5. Very little time for girls to work on their campaign and for all to share their message with the group. 6. We left with girls who were utterly uninspired to run for office- quite the opposite intention that the mothers had going into it. 6. Our girls were aged 9-13, so young on the spectrum- but within the age that the event was targeted towards. 7. the marketing materials on the website look great but the event felt opposite of everything I saw on the site. 8. There is nowhere to review the company- not on yelp, fb, on the website. They are only listed on eventbrite. I'd be curious to know who comes back as a repeat customer. 9. I really wanted to love the event and i love the idea and the founder seams like a smart interesting woman- but this seems like a side hustle, with lean back up support, and not lots of thought into delivering a long term meaningful product to girls.
Thank you for posting the review. We will investigate and be sure the refund is processed. We'd love you to join us for our next Toronto camp on April 25. The tickets would be complimentary.
Warmest Regards,
Girls in Politics Initiative
