“These guys make great portable solar chargers, batteries...”

SouthernAZ J.

These guys make great portable solar chargers, batteries and accessories like lights, phone chargers and speakers for laptops. You can charge up one of their big battery packs or use their little solar chargers for direct charging. The small ones are about the same size as a notepad computer, so really convenient. Their customer service is great. You can also buy their stuff from beprepared.com, sometimes for less than the manufacturer's site.

Bought a lighthouse LED light for my emergency supplies. Never used but just decided to turn on and not be able to turn off again. Useless! Contacted Customer Support and got this Hello Jerry, If you were still in warranty I would advise against it as it would break your warranty. As your warranty is up you can feel free to do with it as you wish. Sincerely, Michael Petersen Solutions Center Representative

They tried to grip me. For $7 plus dollars. Screenshot include says it all.
Watch them closely, they will rip you off. Then take there sweet old time in rectifying.

Tip for consumers:
Do not trust them. Their rating is low. With the majority of consumers not happy. I can see why.

Products used:
Faraday bag. Jumped through hoops for a return of a measly 7 bucks and some change they tried to steal.

I've bought several of their products over the years: small solar panel, lighthouse lantern, and a small power bank. I will never buy another product from them. The solar bank's battery died and I was unable to get it working again. Waste of money. I hardly ever used it. Customer service was less than helpful. I have to ditch the power bank and call it a loss. What a shame.

After owning multiple of their products and over $1000 invested, I can firmly say I'll never buy from them again. They come out with "innovative" designs that fail immediately after the warranty period is up and there is ZERO support to try and fix them. They will not even respond to acknowledge your issue. They do not care about their customers or their products beyond getting them sold once. Save your money and get better products from another company. Hese are as reliable as the chinese knock off except 10x the price. Example: Goal Zero Lighthouse 250 ($80 lantern) will not turn off until the battery is drained... useless unless plugged into a power source and then you would have to cover it up with something to go to sleep and recharge before the net use

I bought gold zero because they were the first company that was providing solid solar solutions. I have bought two 500 W yeti lithium ion batteries I have 150 W of panels. In the last year, one of the batteries will not charge with, plugging them into any power source, AC or solar. Recently, my 50 W panel has stopped transferring power to the battery. In Canada, a 500 W yeti cost me $1200 Canadian. I've had two years of service out of the battery and it no longer is rechargeable. Due to some problem with the 8 mm input.
Now the 50 W panel is not transferring power to the one battery that is working. This is a lot of money for stuff that does not work over the long-term. As I'm a full-time nomad I need these things to function flawlessly. I am not satisfied with goal zero products in general. I am seeking another supplier to fill my needs. Very disappointed. Do not recommend you buy any goals or products. In addition they will nickel and dime you for every cable connecter that should be included. I'm sure there are many other manufacturers that have surpassed the ones great reputation of goal zero.

I bought the yeti 3000x. So many issues. First it notifies me nonstop about nonexistent issues. Such as: your gen is at zero charge (when I know it's 100%) then 5 minutes later it notifies me that it's back to full. It's like that gf who just won't stop texting till u ghost her. Second, I can't turn the backlight off on the screen. Oh sure, there's a button for it (thx gz for helping me, idiots). But the light just comes back on. It shouts from the back of my Jeep: steal me! Yes I put black tape over it. Sad. Then there's the issue that if I have solar plugged in then the gz can't accept a charge from the car alternator. I have a built in solar panel on my hood. Sucks having to plug/unplug all the time to charge. There are soooo many other issues. Oh and customer service is a joke. I've switched to jackery.

No service department, no parts, no repairs. Hugely overpriced. A last resort product, doesn't last very long and not built for the outdoors or the elements.

Tip for consumers:
Not repairable, zero service.

For the prices they charge Goal Zero has very inferior customer service policies. I spent over $2700 for the Solar panel, 230 W high speed charger and the new 1500X power station. When I opened the 1500X the Anderson port does not charge the unit which is what both the solar panel and the 230 W charger use. After calls to tech support and resetting the unit they acknowledge it was defective and I needed to send it back. Normal merchant would send you a new one so you would have something to use and send the defecting unit back. Not Goal Zero. You have to wait a week to 2 weeks for a second company to send you packaging since the LI battery is hazardous (although when it was shipped it just came in two boxes). Then you can return it which since it must go by ground will take another week and then after they receive it they will send you a new unit (I hope). So you spend $2000 for a unit and won't have use of it for a month or more also using up a month of your warrantee. Customer service says that is their "Policy". Pretty poor policy in my opinion.

Verified purchase

I am very displeased with Goal Zero and their solution to "their" problem with a product that I purchased from them. I purchased a replacement battery for a Yeti. When it arrived and I opened the box and the handle was broken. I immediately started taking pictures as I hadn't even taken it out of the box. I simply opened it. Since the battery is super heavy the handles make moving the battery much easier. As only one handle was broken I was able to move it and put it in the unit (Yeti). The reason I struggled to put the battery in the unit was because I was needing the batter for an event that I was doing in a week. When I received the battery it was after hours so the next day I contacted Goal Zero and sent the pictures of the damaged handle to see what could be done about it. This is where customer service started going south. First their solution was for me to box it back up and send it back and once they receive it they would send a replacement. That would have taken a minimum of 3 weeks. I needed a functioning Goal Zero Yeti in a week. Second, and this always gets my blood pressure up when businesses who drop the ball do this. The representative went on to tell me when the battery leaves the warehouse it is in perfect condition else they wouldn't have sent it. So since they wanted to go there I went on to ask at what part of the shipping process that damage could have happened if it didn't happen BEFORE putting it in the box if the box wasn't damaged. I took pictures of it still in the box and simply opened so it didn't come from me. Basically, I trusted Goal Zero (Yeti) to provide a product that was in perfect condition and they failed to do that. Then failed again when they had the opportunity to rectify the problem in a timely manner. Moving forward I will chalk it up as a lose and the price you pay for dealing with companies with substandard customer service. I am very loyal to companies that I use until they wrong me then I start looking for other companies that offer better service and a better product. I will not refer Goal Zero to no one.

Products have short warranty and are pricey, though innovative. Contacted them twice with a question about a discontinued product (Lighthouse 250 lantern that suddenly refuses to turn off - they appear to be having similar problem with their newer brighter version)and never received a response. Wasn"t asking for warranty coverage or replacement just wanted to know if it was repairable. Also own a so lb. Ar panel and flexible light. Won"t purchase their products again if they don't care enough about their customers to respond to an inquiry.

THEY SEEM TO MAKE SOME PRETTY NICE STUFF, BUT THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. ALSO THEY HAVE SOME VERY LOW QUALITY BATTERIES THAT DON'T EVEN LAST A YEAR OR SIX MONTHS, AND WHEN THEY FAIL, THEY WON'T REPLACE THEM. ALL MAJOR MANUFACTURERS HAVE A ONE YEAR OR LONGER WARRANTY, BUT THEY DON'T. I WONDER WHY?
