“Terrible place!”

Dekia J.

This place is horrible and very dysfunctional! It actually deserves zero stars. Turnover rate is ludicrous. They don't honor the terms of their contract and they advertise services they don't provide! Horrible! Horrible! They only have two group classes. The facility is also not well maintained! One time the lights were off in the bathroom was over two weeks! Not sure how this place operates with the way they handle business!

Gayton crossing sauna in Richmond Virginia is never cleaned. There is constantly trash on the floor and it smells so bad you can hardly sit in it. Smells like bad hair weave and sweat. It's disgusting. Bathrooms run out of toilet paper often and never have paper towels to dry hands.

Golds gym offers a variety of classes, as well as promising clean equipment, tons of weights, options besides a treadmill for cardio. All around great environment to work on being the best you in.

I just wanted to drop a quick note to share my incredibly frustrating experience with Gold's Gym, and I strongly advise against joining them.

I've been trying to cancel my membership for what feels like forever. I've done it all - visited in person, handed in my card, made countless calls, and even had to go to the extreme of closing my bank account, which I'd held for over 20 years, just to stop them from charging me.

During one of my visits, I couldn't even see a manager, let alone get inside because they marked my account as "delinquent." It's frustrating because I know the staff, especially this nice Latina lady, were trying to help, but their hands were tied.

I mean, seriously, it's not like the manager was stuck in meetings all day, right? It's not Goldman Sachs! I just couldn't get a hold of anyone who could actually assist me.

In a last-ditch effort, I sent an email to the manager, even though I doubt I'll ever hear back from them. They were supposed to call me back since January, and I'm still waiting for that call. It's beyond frustrating.

So, long story short, if you're thinking about Gold's Gym, please reconsider. Their membership cancellation process has been a never-ending nightmare, and I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what I've experienced.

Visited the Concord NC location with intentions to join. However, I refused to join a gym where people will not return their equipment to proper location. Plates were left on nearly every piece of equipment in the gym. Trees had no plates as they were on the equipment. Leg press had five 45s on each side and nobody using it. There are signs posted to return all equipment. But obviously people cant read. Seen someone trip over a 45 left on the floor while they were carrying a barbell. She was just shaking her head in anger. If you are caught leaving equipment on the bars, suspend the membership. Spoke to another member about this and he stated that the gym was ok to leave a plate on each side. Give an inch, they take a mile. Just require all equipment to be returned. Its simple logic. Decided to join another gym where you will be kicked out if you do something like this.

Been working out most my entire adult life. Was living above the downtown Austin gym for 2 weeks while seeking permanent digs in ATX, saw the gym downstairs (didn't even have to open my car door) and decided to join (soon to realize was a BIG mistake) for a couple of weeks- one month tops (as our residence was for only 2 weeks). I worked-out there 6-8 times and (regrettably) convinced my girlfriend to join as well.

I am a convenience freak- so this was good- at first, right away when entering or leaving, sometimes the people at the front desk did not even acknowledge my presence (who pays their salaries?) when entering...too busy having sex switch their phones I suppose?

NOW TO BRASS TACKS= me- almost 63, not my first gym membership (regardless of length of membership) in all my time I have NEVER had such a difficult time cancelling a membership, so much so, that after fraudulently charging my credit card (did not realize until 3 months later...never use the card anymore) BOTH SHE AND I CANCELLED AS INSTRUCTED AT THE FRONT DESK...Golds refuses to acknowledge that:

1 Not patronizing the gym for MONTHS

2 Not working with me in any way, shape, or form to come to a solution for this matter- NOT acknowledging that they (could have) dropped the ball.

3 Both my Fiancé and I have made it clear that Gold's manner in which to cancel is a joke, which we nonetheless cancelled as indicated, with a STAFF member at the front desk.

4 Effective today, my Fiancé now has a COLLECTION agency letter since they took the SAME posture with her as well!

5 My...proof that this organization is very dirty, so much so that when you...TRY...to call the corporate office in Irving, TX I was unable after 4 attempts to get anyone on the phone and when I hit various numbers on the phone? All were set-up to get me on the phone with the DOWNTOWN Austin gym, based on their phone system understanding what area code I was calling from...what legitimate business won't take a phone call at their CORPORATE office location?

LASTLY, during my few/our visits, a couple of times I had to tell the homeless boys that I had no cash (not needed at the gym) and they got stopped with me...making me want to be unkind, don't need that pre or post workout

Tip for consumers:
pathetic customer service- worst gym experience in all my time

The Golds Gym on Bells Ferry road is horrific. The staff is rude and crude and all they want is your money. The head of training I think his name is Shelby is so unprofessional the way he speaks to the trainers and the way he stares at the women there. He makes me feel so uncomfortable that I never want to return, His foul language twords the ladies in the gym is so unprofessional words cant explain. I have 2 little daughters and I was mortified. Needless to say I will nevr go to this gym ever again.

Golds gym in manchester nh, on down st. Has a member there claiming to be a trainer. He gave me a free 30 day pass and gave me free training. He convinced me to buy a membership and not even a week later he started to get really uncomfortably creepy. Talking about sex, my body, how he hates his wife, affairs. It's got really weird so not even two Weeks into my membership I stopped going. It turned out he WAS NOT A TRAINER, his wife texted my phone a bunch of times threatening me saying to stop talking to her husband. -ALOT OF INCONVENIENCE. I called the gym to explain why I would not be coming back just when I got a membership. Not only did it take 2 to 3 weeks to even call me back but they claimed there was nothing they could.do. I called again to complain and they just said, " let's see what we can do for you and call. You back" they never called back. So Now. Im. Stuck with a 30$ a month membership. GOLDS GYMS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A NIGHTMARE. SAVE YOURSELF SOME TROUBLE AND DO NOT GO THERE.
