Gumroad makes it much easier to sell digital products online, provides sellers with a lot of features. The previous review states that "Gumroad is a scam" and I disagree, each product can be reviewed by the customer and I think you just need to do some research before making the purchase. If something goes wrong with a purchase you can simply open a dispute. It's the internet, there are going to be scams, but they can be avoided pretty easily.

This platform is a time waste - be aware that if you start to publish stories there after a while they delete them without notice. Also, the support is very rude and they don't care about your issue. I will be sure that negative feedback will be published on each site where this company is listed. And yes I have proof that this feedback is genuine after a real experience with the gumroad.com site.

It is an unfriendly platform for the consumer. My experience as a buyer has been terrible. Not very intuitive platform, it has difficulties in the affiliation of FOREIGN BANK ACCOUNTS and PAYPAL as well as PAYMENT.
It is URGENT that they improve the USER experience, BECAUSE there are true JEWELS hidden in the PLATFORM.

I've subscribed to a few services that use Gumroad to handle their payment processing and the experience has been one of the most frustrating experiences ever. First of all, when I try to make a new subscription, the page only lets me register a new account. There is no log-in option. I have to cancel the transaction, log-in on the Gumroad site, then go back to the website of the service provider and then attempt to subscribe.

A password reset can take anywhere from 60 seconds to 2 hours to do because their email system is severely slow.

Their entire interface is a disgusting mess.

This is an absolute scam! They blocked my account and confiscated all my earnings ($1000+) for no reason! When I googled them, it turned out they are known for suspending creators' payouts for non-sensical reasons!
I would stay away from such website! There are so many alternatives

I use Gumroad for almost two years. This service was not so good some time ago, but now it's perfect! It's product-oriented style is very helpful sometimes. Working with text was very bad a year ago, but now it's very comfortable.
Creators know what they are doing:)

I having been using Gumroad to sell my digital products for a while now, and I've been having a very positive experience.

The website works properly, the product listings look great, and, most importantly, I get paid for the sales I make – which is the whole point.

Of course, Gumroad isn't perfect. I've had an issue with the automatic workflows (that allow you to send automatic emails to your customers) because my name has accents in it; to be more precise, my name uses "ã" and their platform was choking on those.
I sent a customer service request saying I was having trouble with the workflows, and they immediately responded saying they'd look at it. They always kept me in the loop and told me how things were going, gave me an intermediate fix while they were solving the issue and, finally, solved the issue entirely!

As of today, I still sell my products with them.

I don't have any issues with gumroad, and their discovery system has made my products rise from nothing to known. Thank you Gumroad

I'm a comics creator from the Philippines (https://carverhouse.gumroad.com) and I have been using Gumroad for a few years. I sell only digital products, and have earned US$2,600 since 2017. Not a lot, as I only have a few products.

For context, I am not a power user. I haven't maximized everything Gumroad can do. All I wanted was a place to sell my stuff, and get a mailing list of people who I know will buy what I have to offer.

What I really love about Gumroad is how simple it is to set things up, and that I get my own mailing list. I also like how I don't have to pay a monthly fee, though I wish that Gumroad opened up a donation option for themselves. I haven't sold anything new lately, so I feel guilty about taking up space.

I also like how Gumroad gives many options for setting up subscriptions. I haven't taken advantage of this, because of my audience's concerns about using credit cards.

The Pay-What-You-Want option is awesome. I've been using it for most of my products. Try it. It's a great way for you to find your "true fans."

In the past, I did have a problem with my account being flagged because of a chargeback, but that was quickly remedied after talking to Gumroad support.

Of course, Gumroad isn't perfect. Here are a few concerns I have:

1) Customer support. While their customer support is very helpful, I sometimes don't feel a lot of empathy from their email responses. It feels like the reps just want to quickly get the concern out of the way, so the tone of their emails tends to raise an eyebrow at times. I also had a problem with the way they answered my inquiry about Google Pay. If I were to rate the customer support alone, I would give it 3.5 to 4.0 stars.

2) This applies to my case in the Philippines. While many have bought stuff from me using their credit card, many others are wary of doing so, and not many have Paypal accounts. While Google Pay is integrated, it's still tied to a credit card. I wish that there was a way for people to pay me through Google Pay but using their mobile phone accounts. This would be a super game changer for me.

Potentially, the next best thing would be e-wallets. The Philippines have e-wallet services which are very popular (GCash, Paymaya), and have their own virtual cards. I have been able to buy stuff on Gumroad using these virtual cards, but it's a hit or miss, which can be very frustrating. I don't know if Gumroad can find a way to remedy this.

3) To take advantage of the Pay-What-You-Want option, the maximum file size is only 25MB. I wish it were higher, as I would like to sell tutorial videos. The only way around this so far is to use discount codes, but that's an extra step from an audience standpoint.

4) This is a nitpick, from a design standpoint. Gumroad has a Discover Marketplace, sort of like Creative Market or Cubebrush, but the Gumroad design doesn't have the same robust vibe as those other sites. I'd like to think that the casual feel of Gumroad is intentional, but this presentation can make Gumroad look less professional, and more subject to skepticism.

My advice for those who are thinking of using Gumroad: start small and lower expectations. Gumroad is not Amazon, it's not Shopify, it's not Etsy. So I would imagine Gumroad would have to make some tradeoffs. It's still the best platform I've found for my purposes. Thanks, Gumroad!

Yep. You heard me right. I would appreciate a proper email so i can send them proof that some of the artists they host on their platform as they are creating animated child sexual exploration and getting paid for it.

Despite gumroad being located in US which has laws against deplications of minors in sexual acts. Which extends to animated and computer generated children

I've reported one a good 5 different times a person who animates little girls in sexual acts moaning happily while it goes on. Truly sickening stuff only made worse by the fact gumroad doesn't care.

I'd attach a photo but yah know. Trying to solve a problem not become one.
And no way am i ever gonna support someone like that by giving them money. Thankfully this means these sickos have their credit card tied to their account right? Right? That'll help in getting them arrested for making such content.

They let creators sell digital goods, then all of a sudden they confiscate their money and suspend their accounts! BE CAREFUL and avoid using GUMROAD at any cost! It is a scam!

If you are trying to sell something on Gumroad, as good it might be for some, don't trust it. I got my very first sale last month (a small one, but still a sale) and I was planning to improve the page with more content people could enjoy, but then a few days ago out of nowhere, I received an email from the Gumroad team which notified me there was a dispute related to the purchase/payment and my account has been suspended. Now, while the FAQ page mentions you may experience this issue related to chargebacks, they also state you are free to contact them and complain about it, so that they can help you through it and eventually fix it. However, this isn't what I got when I expressed my disappointment, after reading the buyer could maybe message me and I no longer have an active profile for that. This person from the support basically brushed me off and treated me with superiority even if I was simply trying to understand what happened, the overall explanation has been extremely brief, I've been instructed to check the FAQ (which I did, and there is a clear mismatch between the provided informations) and in the end all I got was "go find another place, good luck".

This is no way to deal with disappointed customers, especially considering that the money they earn from those purchases is LOST. I have been lucky my sale was super cheap, because I read about people losing hundreds of dollars and Gumroad never gave it back despite what their site states.

Maybe you are lucky and the same problem will not happen to you, but considering how many users have been affected I honestly wouldn't bother trying. The customer support is terribly unprofessional and clearly useless when you want your account and money back. Terrible experience.
