“Horrible Service - Charges But Doesn't Deliver”

You will be highly disappointed if you purchase from this company. I purchased their standard software to work with my Docketport 465 sheetfed scanner. For the first few months, it worked just fine, but then all of a sudden began putting watermarks on my scanned documents and kept pushing me to upgrade to their professional version. When I contacted their customer service, that is where the disappointment began. They said that they had to turn that feature of no watermarks off because it was only offered in the professional package. They also stated their website clearly notes that when it doesn't. Further checking into them recently reveals that they have a 1 star rating with BBB along with several complaints that are marked unanswered for years. They are just another company to add to the list that promises, lies, and then doesn't support their product.

I had purchased it many years ago. It has let me down so many times that I gave up on it for a few years. A few years later, I decided to give it another chance. So, I approached their support. No real support came from this at all. Instead, Ed Hammrick himself ended up becoming very rude. And I still had no answer to the issue at hand. Apparently, I was the one being rude by asking him for help, although i asked in a very polite way. And YES, i can document this. Ed Hammrick Software advertises raw Slide scanning, yet fails to give precise instructions on how that is actually done. In the end, it was clear that RAW Slide scanning is NOT possible at all. If you work in an office, this Software likley is a total waste of time, for its interface is very complicated for someone who quickly needs something scanned. If you consider yourself a more demanding customer, well, here is a great opportunity to throw time and money out of the window. On another note, reading through Trustpilots 5-star comments there, I could see a huge amount of them to be comments originating from dubious accounts with no track records, and when checking for verified customers opinions there, there was only one single comment there from a "TRUSTPILOT VERIFIED CUSTOMER". So if You try to figure out if VUESCAN is worth spending money on, i would personally advice only make this place here on sitejabber a section of the decision making and research...if its worth spending any time and money on this software.

Contacted customer Support which is 1 person apparently Mr. Hamerick. Vuescan was not recognizing my Epson ES 400 Scanner and I had already tried all that was suggested on the website first. Mr. Hamerick initially emailed me to assist me and I was given a specific set of instructions to "click on File and then Default Options and then proceeded to instruct me on the "Drop-Down Menu" that was supposed to drop down. This never happened the drop-down menu was NOT dropping down and I wrote back to Mr. Hamerick letting him know that there was no Drop-Down menu after clicking Default Options as instructed. So I got a reply email from him telling me to "STARE AT THE SCREEN FOR 10 MINUTES TO FIND FILE FROM THE MENU AT THE TOP LEFT OF THE PAGE" This was his answer to me after I already knew where the file was located, clicked on it and then clicked on the Default Options at which point the Drop-Down menu was supposed to appear. So not only does he apparently not care about customer service which shows by his useless and inappropriate response, but I wrote back to him again letting him know I didn't need to stare at anything I knew where everything was and what he was talking about and followed his instructions to the letter until I couldn't go any further, but because I canceled my subscription, he discontinued to attempt to help. Furthermore, I canceled the day after I bought the subscription and the website tells you immediately that you can continue to use the service until the end of the billing cycle which meant I have a full month left of service to try to get things working correctly and receive support and nothing, no response or further attempt to help me just his sarcastic email. I did receive an email on how to cancel my subscription from him but by the time I received it, I had already seen the instructions on the website and canceled before receiving that email. Very disappointed all the way around. Obviously, Mr. Hamerick can create an online business and software but rather not be bothered when it comes to providing help to paying customers. I usually purchase the 1-year subscription when given the opportunity, thankfully this time I only subscribed at the $9.99 a month price so I only lost a little over $10 after tax and some time!

Tip for consumers:
Very poor customer service is my biggest issue with Vuescan!

I was unable to use Vuescan and have not used any other products at this time relative to getting my scanner up and running for Windows 11

The smart software with ugly service, trying to make consumers to write support letters according to its desires. They are described nowhere. Buy only Pro version and only with full combination of conditions:
1. You need to scan films in big numbers. Especially of bad quality. There is a lot of software for text scanning with normal support Paperscan is free.
2. There are no drivers or comfortable software for your scanner and for your OS and it is not supported by Silverfast. Their support is not better. But it is cheaper.
3. You can afford 100 dollars, knowing about bad service. The software is functional but such support…
4. You have no free license.
5. You are against piracy. Pirates are robbers, but sometimes they really help in technical issues.

That is my situation.

The Vuescan is installed both on real Windows 10 machine and physical machine with Windows XP.
All found full texts of emails with Hamrick software and log are enclosed.
I use its Vuescan software to scan films with Hewlett Packard Scanjet 4600 scanner.
There are no official Support of the device from Hewlett Packard, when the scanner is installed on Windows XP. So, I spend a lot of time and money to select software, study descriptions on the Vuescan site of all the scanners to find all the film scanners, supported by software. I need those which allow to scan films without cutting. That is why, I looked all descriptions on hamrick.com and info on other sites. They are very rare in my country. Then, bought one. So buy and install Windows XP, on computer imitation (look Vmware software to know or google "virtual machine"). There is some error on the XP. I can not understand its reason. May be, I was asked to send a log. I sent it to Hamrick,. Read it contents in the file enclosed. The support asked to install the driver. It was installed by me on both locations. Nothing changed and I have written about it. And what is the answer: "Again, I have no memory of our past emails. The "drivers" means nothing to me. Stop writing to me, this is waste of time." There is the essence of my claim:
I have a problem with software. I have installed virtual machine to use it, found and bought and OS a scanner to use it, now I have errors. As normal customer I have made support log which is necessary, copied this log to real machine. May be even made a video somebody to understand, what happens and enclosed it. I waited 2 or three days for the answers. I did not insist, I simply reminded. I was instructed to install drivers. Ok installed. Everything repeats. What are the further actions? I was interested in my actions. And was ready to wait. And now, when the issue is not solved. I am written, I was wasting time. By the way my letters were short. And you write word "regards". Really there are no regards, and no respect in such approach. Hamrick priced software at 100 dollars. Where is 100 dollars service? NOT. THANK IS WHY I THINK, THAT NOW 2 USUAL FREE KEYS, AND SOLVING THJE ISSUE WILL BE NOT COMPLETE BUT FAIR DECISION. IT is Hamrick happiness, I am not in USA. FOR ME WORDS AND PHRASES THE DRIVER, YOU WRITTEN, ERROR REPEATS HAVE MEANING. AND THEY SHOULD HAVE MEANING FOR NORMAL SUPPORT FOR 100 DOLLARS SOFTWARE.
