“Seems to be legit, however (active) membership numbers seem to be kind of low.”

I've been using this site for about a month. Here is the breakdown of my thoughts and experiences with it so far. (Account creation and the browse/search features are free.) This site has a monthly fee charge if you want to communicate. The more months you purchase at one time, the bigger the discount. If you do decide to pay, automatic renew is set to' yes.' Make sure you change it to 'no' in the billing options if you do not want it to auto renew. There are 2 payments tiers - Gold and Platinum. This is necessary for you to send messages to other members, unless they are already a paying member. Messages can be sent to anyone, however it can only be read if one of the two communicating members has a paid membership. I prefer this method over how other dating sites charge you for ever little transaction. This is a huge plus for this umbrella of dating sites. Unfortunately, membership on one site does not grant membership to their others. There are a wide variety of members from different countries, but the overall number of members seem to be a little low compared to a few of their other sites. I've communicated with a few members, but nothing serious has come from it yet. No one has asked me for money, gifts, etc.; so that is a good thing. I, also, do not get a massive number of messages from women when I have no profile picture or information on my profile. I am not saying that this site is scam free, but they seem to have a bit of an handle on it. Overall my experiences with this dating site have not been bad. There seems to be a lot of old accounts that have not been purged or disabled. I think they should disable accounts that have been inactive for maybe 3 to 6 months; users should be able to reactive them by logging back on. Searches come up with a lot of people that are no longer active. You may wish to sort searches by last active date just so you have a better chance of actually getting a response. If you are interested in trying this site; I recommend you create a free account and try it out. Do not join unless you find a few souls you wish to communicate with. There is also some safety advice posted on each profile page to help you avoid scammers. Check their other sites, as most of them seem to have more (active) members. The international cupid site seems to be the most active out of the ones I've looked at.

I opted out for auto renew membership. But they still renewed and charged without my consent. Email them dozen of times and got no response.

Hello Jones

For your convenience, we will automatically renew your membership shortly before it expires so you can continue to use all your premium membership features without interruption.

You may opt-out of auto-renewal at any time through your Billing settings. However, to ensure your choice is processed correctly by our system, we recommend you make any changes to your auto-renew settings at least 48 hours before your membership is due to expire.

Please contact enquiries@hongkongcupid.com if you have any further questions.

I signed up this website for a week. This site is full of internet scammers. I've got over twenty responses in the first three days. Even I said I won't consider anyone is younger than me, I am 49, and 19 years old guys sent me messages. They just kept on bugging me.

When I encountered someone I thought might work out, I asked them to send me photos with latest local newspaper or magazine in their hands in order to prevent impersonation. Then their attitude changed dramatically, some of them sent me nasty messages and some disappeared. I think asking these culprits to provide photos will make them leave you alone.

I contacted the customer services informing them about the issue, and asked them to refund me some portion of my six months payment, but they refused.

Since then, I haven't received any response, my money is down to the drain.

Think twice before you sign up this website, my experience was a torture.

I realized the scammers have the same pattern. They being kind and sweet to you, then tell you they need to go abroad, then for whatever reasons, they need money.

Internet dating network is amazing tool, but we should know how to protect ourselves. Try asking for the photo I mentioned, don't chat with them through other app as the network provider won't take any responsibilities. You need them to block this person from hurting you. When I discovered it was a fraud, I blocked him from my whatsapp account, then he sent me MSM messages in two different foul languages.

Good luck everyone!
