Hy-Vee in Springfield Missouri held a veterans Day breakfast and I have to say I do commend the staff and corporate for their generosity they showed to the veterans and their families. More places should take notice of how to show appreciation to all the people who keep them secure and safe. Thanks Hy-Vee. Good Job!
My wife purchased 2-5 oz steaks was charged for 8 oz steaks. When I went to the service desk they told me because she paid with a check they couldn't refund the money. So it cost me an extra trip to the store at $4+ a gallon plus 30 minutes of time to come away with no meat and flipping gift card! I'd recommend any grocery store over HyVee! They screw up more often than they don't and their customer service policies are the absolute worst!

My husband and I used this Hyvee restaurant for the first time (Algona, Iowa). We were not impressed. Tbh, I've never been impressed with the cleanliness of any of the old restaurants (Humboldt, Iowa), but we were appalled at this one.
We expected the possibility of the usual dead flies on the window sills, crumbs under every table, but there was a sign on the table that really took the biscuit! (See picture for reference) The sign and the napkin holder was disgusting!
You guessed it, we won't be returning!
Btw is it not law to have trash can lids in use in food establishments?
Seasoned pork chops to salty to eat. Discounted bakery item charged full price. 10# riblets were frozen pork scraps. BS at customer service saying riblets are like that in Iowa. Don't believe that's true. Just junk meat. Better to shop at CUB - not saying much for HyVee.
I switched my card over to perks and I've used it 3 times and I've never received the perks prices yet. Twice I've used self checkout and have had to call management over to help me. Also the smiles in every isle is a joke. There are only a couple of people that have ever spoken to me and greeted me in the early morning. To be employee owned, employees don't seem to care.
I have shopped at Hyvee off Langsford rd for a decade. The manager that works customer service could care less about customers. She is always rude if I drop off cleaning like it is an inconvenience.
I always have to watch advertised specials as 9 times out of 10 they have to correct the price or they tell you that you have to buy 3-5 of any said item to get their sale price…I will be taking my $200 a week grocery bill to Price Chopper. Enough is enough!
The only thing that is good about my hometown HyVee is the long term employee that fills my online order every week! She is the best, considering what she has to work with! Please get it together HyVee
They have discontinued all the items that I loved. They promised to bring them back after they remodeled. Did not happen, despite numerous conversations with the managers. I can never find anything there. I never know where things are located. I used to be able to find things much easier. They apparently changed the recipe of the fried chicken. The last time I got it, it was so heavily spiced I could not eat it. And when I got sesame chicken, it did not taste anything like what it used to be. The pharmacy is a mess: long lines. And when I contacted them about the price of couple of my medications, I could hear the one guy in the background cussing and said he didn't have time to do what I had asked. Instead of just calmly explaining they didn't have enough staff to do that, he just went ballistic. So I switched my meds to CVS and get most of my groceries from Walmart. Really sad. Their customer service used to be great. But not so much anymore.
Tip for consumers:
I am not from a competitor. I don't believe in that. It only hurts the customer when reviews are not authentic. My hope is that HyVee would learn from the reviews and that they would fix the things that are broken. I have tried to give HyVee the benefit of the doubt, since I used to love going there. They had such wonder customer service. I kept hoping things would get better after Covid had settled down, and after everyone got used to the changes in the remodel. but they have not.

This review is based on multiple visits over the period of several months. I don't remember what I purchased each time, but nearly every visit to HyVee I walked out of the store with only a fraction of the items I went in there because I couldn't find what I went there for.
I tried multiple times to get the sale price that is advertised. I tried in store and online. But every time, it's a disappointment because the price advertised is never applied. At the store, I could ask and once in a while someone would apply the promotion manually. Online, the item says it's on sale but the full price is charged.
It is such a waste of time to go through the Hyvee advertisements.

I went to my local Raytown, Mo HyVee to buy the Kraft Roka Bleu Cheese spread. The English and the Pineapple spreads are $4.49 a jar but they have the price for Roka at $6.69 a jar! There are a lot of HyVee stores from here to California and they are selling the Roka for $4.49. So what's up with that? Price gouging!

They are always out of the daily deal, I used to be able to get a rain check bc it's not the people's fault that are shopping that they run out of everything, but nope can't get one anymore I was told so no sense in shopping Hy-Vee anymore can't get what you want anyway
Tip for consumers:
Don’t downgrade your customers as is not our fault that you run out of the daily deals. I’m definitely not going to bother even looking anymore I will just get what I want at Walmart if I can’t get a rain check anymore

Failing to recognize over taxing. Refusing to refund. Check your receipts. Walmart refunded no problem.

Every given week you can go and purchase things that are on sale and get charged full price. The meat there says HyVee Reserve which is the exact same as select. It's the worst kind of meat you can buy. The 3 grades of meat are select, choice and Prime. But they charge Choice prices. Not to mention if you go in there after work at seven 8 at night they're all sold out of everything that's on sale. Terrible inventory!
Horrible, no better yet pathetic level of customer service in the pharmacy department. Glenda told me if I expected meds to be ready for pickup within 3hrs I should go to a McDonald's. She was argumentative, cocktail, arrogant and rude. After calling ahead and being told 30 minutes till its ready, I show up 3hrs later to be told that they need 5 minutes and to get back in their 20 minute drive through line again. Glenda was refusing to let me sign for the 1 that was ready and literally sitting right beside her to sign. She literally told me to find another pharmacy if I couldn't understand why I needed to wait in line twice to get my script. I've never been to a hyvee this $#*!ty at customer service. Not once, and I have picked up med's at 4 other hyvees over the years.
The flowers I bought and paid them to deliver, did not arrive in a timely manner. I called the store and got excuses. I will never use them ever again! It messed up my Valentine surprise for my wife. Lon Phillips

Hyvee at this location has issues from the front door to the parking lot. They have two walkways but Hyvee is constantly parking their catering and floral trucks between these crosswalks. I brought this to the attention of the store manager. At first the store manager acted as though Safety was a major priority. But then came the excuses. He said he instructed his delivery folks to park 20 feet from the entrances. The very next day they parked an 18 wheeler tractor trailer between the two entrances on the SIDEWALK. Both ends of this trailer were within 2 feet of each entrance. I took a picture of it and emailed it to the store manager. This is where I found out that customer safety is not so much of a priority. The excuse I got from him was... "The trailer is a promotion of their seafood and it will be moved after the weekend" - This told me that promoting their seafood special was more important than the customer's safety. Notice the white Jeep in the picture I provided. The driver's view of that exit is totally blocked by the trailer. If a customer is injured due to this neglect I will be sure to provide the plaintiff and their lawyer with pictures and emails. Maybe a lawsuit will be a wakeup call because my warnings are not being taken seriously.

None.. for now on I will be shopping at Price Chopper.
1. Still looking for price per ounce to compare prices. Asked abouth this when they first opened here. And lots of shelves didn't even have price stickers. 2. Coupons can be worthless when item is no where to be seen. Friday night and half of on sale produce items where no where and no one was working the department. 3. Loved it when checkout person threw the apples down the ramp; put everything in one too heavy bag with the taco chips; and didn't care if items where in bag upsidedown- good thing nothing leaked. 4. Good thing the sea food counter was being emptied - they must not notice the old fish smell.
Glad I have my choice of other stores to buy from

Reason ******* to avoid Hyvee. Today I was the 5th person in line at the self checkout stations (to buy my 2 items)...They have numerous selkf chrckout stations.but SEVEN of them were turned off! Argh!
Is it really so hard to just turn on the stations?!?!?
Creepy stalking and a "police/law enforcement" person standing at the front acting big but doing geo tracking and stalking and surveilling IN the store when people visit is a disgusting practice Systematically and procedurally calling it "risk or loss management" is shady and surveillance capitalism and not something customers should deal with or have to see when at your store(s).
You don't even fully disclose the practice of sharing, surveillance, what data you are using, video and taxpayer funded systems you are implementing and what data you are sharing/brokering or integrating with.
This needs to end and taxpayers and customers deserve a better experience (in the name of public safety) and is shady and lots of money grabs.
Stalking customers is shady for any Illinois business and calling it "security" and loss control. Pathetic statement about your organiation/stores and operation.
I purchased a cold, cooked rotisserie chicken from Hy-Vee. The chicken needed to be cooked more on the outside as well on the inside. It wasn't done at all. The employees need cooking lessons. When I cut into the chicken, it was so very pink. Almost raw!

I really like my Hyvee store but one thing that I don't like is the daily deals are always out of stock completely and this generally happens early morning and does not allow for other people's schedules that cannot get there right away. A lot people around me complain about this and refuse to go to Hyvee for deals because there is none left especially if you work or have a 3rd shift job and don't get up til late morning. Just seems that the daily deals should be stocked throughout the day so that everyone can at least have a chance at the deal especially with the high cost of food these days and for those who are loyal Hyvee shoppers that just can't get to the store in the morning. Hope someone from Hyvee reads this review so that maybe a change can be made to make daily deals available for all their customers. Otherwise, me personally I love shopping at my local Belton, MO Hyvee and appreciate the great customer service.
Tip for consumers:
That daily deals are very limited in quanity and limited to early morning shoppers.

Tried to take advantage of a BOGO sale advertised all week for pork roast ONLY got one as they said conveniently the one that would have been free was "out of stock" nice bait and switch this was a pick up order and I was not notified of this only realized it when I got home and it was missing
Not only is Hy Vee the highest priced store for groceries, the no longer are honoring the price of out of stock items for the substituted item. In most cases the price is higher for the subbed item.
Being closer than other stores is not incentive to continue to shop at Hy Vee. I'll drive a little further to deal with a more reputable store.
Sour smell the bartender grabs a dirty wine glass to serve a glass and instead of washing it or putting it in the dirty dishes he puts it back with the clean one
Specials and sales always a bait and switch. Always read tag and small print. They will lie cheat and steal every chance they get.
