At a high level Klima is an organization that is reducing global warming by driving up the cost of carbon. How they are doing this is the exciting part. Firstly Klima is a DAO (distributed autonomous organization) which means it's just a group of people who come together online organized by software. Most communication is through Discord and many of the leaders are pseudonymous. But everyone's incentives are tied together through the Klima token. The token can be purchased by anyone with a crypto wallet like MetaMask and token holders are incented to buy, hold and stake their tokens through high interest paid to staked token holders. The DAO earns money when people trade its tokens and that money goes into the DAO's treasury where it is invested into voluntary carbon offsets which have also been tokenized. The treasury holds these tokenized carbon offsets and over time, purchases more and more with the funds from providing liquidity and related financial activities, thereby driving up the cost of carbon offsets and increasing the value of the DAO's treasury creating a positive flywheel effect for the DAO and the environment. And the best part of the DAO is the community. Lots of smart, well-meaning people, trying to do their part to help the planet (and maybe make a little money in the process)
