LexisOne

Lexis One is a branch of the massive LexisNexis service, which provides all manner of information and resources to a wide range of businesses in many fields. Lexis One is the section that covers the law in its many forms, and provides resources to lawyers and law firms, but for the rest of us it also has an outstandingly useful feature if we are in litigation or thinking of becoming involved in a legal case - a database of case law for the whole of the USA, and it's free to use, for anyone. This alone could be worth your visit, if you're looking to identify legal precedent in your own case. There are also other free resources here, including news, podcasts, articles and some free downloads, and anyone can register for free if it's required. If you're a legal professional, and/or can pay for information, the services available increase enormously. It's not cheap, but given the cost of hiring professionals to do the research for you, it could still be a bargain. And for your firm, there are services to deal with internal management and finding prospective clients. As a layperson, the site has been useful to me simply for the free case law. Don't let the fact that it's aimed at professional attorneys put you off, as there's plenty of useful legal information here for anyone, for free.
