“Unusual filename extension”

Boy, was it a mistake to use these guys! I had Livedrive 3 or 4 years ago. Now that I am going though old back-ups, I cannot open all of the old. Ld files from them. Apparently, they had their own file name extensions which was a way to keep you captive. Don't waste your money. Go with Dropbox of Google but stay away from these solo companies that use tricks of the trade to keep you captive.

I have used Livedrive for several years. Of recent, their service has been failing with lost online documents. It is also unable to fully update/add files to their system.
When I raised this issue with them their customer service threatened to erase all my files within 3 days unless I agreed to continue with them. See below email extract;

"If you do not wish to contact my colleagues, the closure will be actioned automatically within 3 business days, and once this is done any data transferred to Livedrive will become inaccessible and deleted from our servers shortly afterwards.
This said, I would like to assist on this matter more directly, and resolve the root cause. Given the circumstances and situation, I would like to discuss this with you directly over the phone and, if necessary, do a remote connection and have a closer look at what's happening. Please let me know if this is acceptable, and what number I can reach you on, as well as what time would be convenient for you.

I have asked to make a complaint and also to be forwarded a copy of their complaints procedure which livedrive have refused.
I would avoid this company at all costs.

Regards 2.0.0.2, had same issue. There is a phone and email service. But, also received an email about upgrading and that gave a download link. This downloaded and worked fine.
Would appear the download mechanism in the app is faulty.

I purchased a lifetime subscription to Livedrive in May of 2015. Everything seemed to work well until about 10 days ago when, without any warning, I received an "Account Suspended" notice when trying to login to my account. Using the contact form on their web site, I asked what happened. I've yet to receive a response.

Since I purchased the subscription through StackSocial, I contacted their customer support, also. I got a speedy response saying that they'd reached out to Livedrive and were told there was a technical issue and it would be fixed in 4-7 business days.

Today, instead of the "Account Suspended" notice, I got a password error. Another attempt at logging in gave the same results so I clicked the "Forgot Password" link, entered my email address, and got "No account found."

I contacted StackSocial again but haven't received a response.

UPDATE: I received an email from Livedrive today (07/08/2016) stating that Dripbit is no longer a reseller of their service. "We have transferred your files to a new Livedrive account on a 30 day trial." Somehow, they managed to save my files, but instead of honoring the previous deal, I'll have a choice of paying $8 per month to backup 1 computer, or $25 per month for 5 computers.

What a pile of rubbish... Try and find any way of contacting "technical support" - there isn't one - the software does not work - I feel conned. AVOID!

I got persuaded into buying this product by a grat sales man. Never used it!. Then I got charged £49 automatically taken directly out of my account one year later. After much searching I eventually found a contact number for customer support. They informed me I had to cancel in writing to an address over the phone (this address is not available on their site!) at my own expense. I sent it 1st class signed for at my own expense. They still state they never received this letter! I have no come back via royal mail with this service! I have not been given an email address to contact them, so there is no proof of any of the correspondence I have had with them. They are unhelpful blood sucking parasites. Use a data pen to save your information and email

I have subscribed to the ICloud backup KNOWHOW livedrive.com backup service. On my IMAC I keep getting advised that there is a Livedrive update. The notification states 'A Newer version of the Livedrive software is available (2.0.0.2). Would you like this newer version to be installed. It's a BIG CON, when you click INSTALL, the software seems to start downloading but never completes the process. I have contacted Livedrive.com customer service but they don't respond. I now have software that I have paid a 5-year subscription for, that won't update and the customer service is unavailable. Don't buy this software - it's a BIG CON
