“I love my jitterbug phone.”

Dolores R.
1/10/23

As a senior citizen I was uneasy about getting a smart phone to replace my flip phone. Then I saw jitterbug advertised. All I wanted was a phone to talk, text, and take & receive pictures. Jitterbug makes all of that so easy. Its reasonably priced! Monthly charge is according to what you use the phone for. I have unlimited minutes, text messages, shared mobile to mobile.and runs me $39.99 a month. I could do much more on my phone but only check weather & my alarms. Keeping things simple was what I wanted and got! LOVE IT!

I am So Disappointed with Lively Customer "support" - I spent 3 hours on the phone to fix THEIR mistake that left me without a phone.
I'm told it "may" be fixed by Tuesday … so Now I DON'T have a phone for the next 3 days. And MAYBE it will be fixed. REALLY?
I am absolutely LIVID and do NIT recommend!

Tip for consumers:
INEPT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE PROBLEM NOT the actual

Bought a phone and minutes for my elderly mother. She never used the phone and did not pay for additional minutes. Starting recieving calls from collection agency in less than 60 days. Apparently we had signed up for a plan and it was our responsibility to notify them we did not wish to continue. After calling they stopped the plan. Expect me to pay $117 or it's on my credit for services never rendered. Just more sharks!

Lively does not produce what their commercial says it works with Alexa but it is a annoying process to set up. Then to find out it doesn't work with Alexa unless you use an entire sentence. " Lively Launch Alexa to make a call to "Person of Contact". What elder person will remember all that. To make a quick call. Lively claims therij phone is simple and users friendly for elders and low vision. Not true. I am going to switch her to Siri.

I would give a negative star if possible. These people are crooks and they take advantage of seniors. They claimed to have an unlimited plan for $24.95/mo for their God awful jitterbug phone and they charged $283 claiming that the unlimited is only for talking and data. Their phones never work and they should be investigated.

Tip for consumers:
They need to investigated for fraudulent services.

Wife and I are in our 70s, retired and handicapped. 10 years ago we subscribed to Consumer Cellular because they offered dumb flip phones for the handicapped and the Doro phones worked for us. After two models of Doro wore out we we into our third then those began to wear out so I checked Consumer Cellular for another dumb flip phone and they had abandoned the Doro and only offer plain Alcatel flips with no handicapped features. I was Incensed. Wife had suggested Great Call Lively's Jitterbug II so I began to study their program then I bought two Lively phones at Walgreens on May 7 and spent a day studying the program, making notes and I prepared a cheat sheet with all of the necessary information for importing our two phone numbers from Consumer Cellular to Great Call Lively. I called Consumer Cellular and got the two passcode for transferring each of the numbers and added those to my data sheet for the transfer. I called Lively customer service on May 8 and began the subscription process. On May 9 I tried to make an account with login at Lively but it did not know me so I waited a day and called a for progress update. I was told that the information I gave them was rejected by Consumer Cellular. I gave then the data again then an employee put my info in the system so that I could have an account. Daily calls back and forth with lively while giving them the number transfer data a total of 4 times availed nothing. About May 12 I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was told that the supervisor would call me the next day but that did not happen. About a week went by when I was involved in other pressing matters then I called for an update from Lively and I was told that the data that lively repeatedly gave to Consumer Cellular did not match what my Consumer Cellular account showed. This last Lively employee was astute enough to see how all the other Lively employees scrambled the data due to their collective inexperience. I called again to cancel everything and I demanded a full refund which was promised but they did not refund me. I had to call my bank and request that they make Lively refund my account.
The Lively II phones, which are also Alcatel, do not have the quality and serviceability of the Doro phones so I will be looking at Easyfone and stay with Consumer Cellular which is less than half the price of Lively for the same exact service.
I have more proofs of purchase but I was only allowed one.

Being 'Home Alone' has a whole new scary feeling now that I have no phone service. Unfortunately, I had ordered a new phone for its safety features as well as its ease of use. I did not consider that if the phone does not get a signal, it does not matter how easy it is to use or what safety features it has.
The problem started yesterday [November 18,2022] when I called Live!y to activate my new Jitterbug2. I was on the phone off and on from ~8:30 AM to 4:20 PM when Live!y customer service hung up on me. [Thinking back, I now wonder IF that was the end of my phone service?] It was a long, frustrating day. Afterwards I was exhausted.
My first call to Lively lasted ~ an hour with one person, then she transferred me to someone else. I'm already getting frustrated. The second person asked me the same questions as the first person. Why? Then I was told what information I needed to get from inside my phone in order to transfer my present phone number to this new Lively phone. Before I ordered the phone, I was told this number transfer would be easy. Now I have just been told that the hard part will getting the information I needed.
[I got the needed information, then called Lively again.]
I now had the password plus a photo of the inside of my phone. This happiness was premature. I spent almost an hour on line with my second Live!y customer service person. He said that I did not have all the information he needed. YET, I had given him everything from inside my phone plus the password. [I do not think he really knew what he was doing because the third person used the information I had given to the second person.]
After going through a lengthy identity verification process, this third Live!y customer service person said she could get this all straightened out. After ~ half an hour, it looked as if I was finally going to get my long used old phone number put on my new Jitterbug2. After being told it was all straightened out, my phone call was ended. I had a question to ask, but she was gone. Exhausted from using the phone all day, I sent an email to Lively. I still have not hear back from them.

I am not sure what was done by this third person, but neither phone is now receiving any signal. I tried a few times, then bundled up to walk down town to see if there was a problem with our service here. "No, our phone is working great today." I tried using my phone in their office. NO signal. Why is my phone not receiving any signal?
I sent them another email telling them I now had NO working phone.
Winter has started in Maine. I do not drive. So I really need a working phone. As of today, November 26,2022, my new phone has not arrived. I have a friend who will drive me to Walmart to get it activated when it does arrive. How Lively killed by signal receivers on both phones, I do not know. I do know they do NOT respond to any emails from me OR respond to my my efforts to get help through their "Contact Us" link on their site. Then do not seem to care about me as a customer at all. I have gone to my bank and put a stop payment [$22 charge] on my automatic monthly payments. I have also initiated a stop payment on the charges to receive the phone. NOTHING works, so why should I have to pay. HORRIBLE experience with Lively!

Lively is the WORST telephone company in the world - I've had their phone for over two years and they refuse to replace the piece of junk they sold me - People ask why I didn't answer my phone - I TOLD THEM BECAUSE IT NEVER RANG - This has happened at least twenty times - The phone beeps and says I have two Voice Mails - I go to Voice Mail and it says I have "NO VOICE MAILS" - Lively tried to fix my phone remotely - Of course it didn't work and they still refuse to replace the phone - I'd get more results yelling out my window - DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH LIVELY - They DO NOT know how to run a business and have NO IDEA WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS...!

Tip for consumers:

I saw the ads in Parade magazine for the Jitterbug phone which was easy for people to use who had trouble with technology. One thing is certain: I would never be able to use a smartphone. But this? The first time I ever tried it wouldn't come on. So I called tech support. And waited and waited and waited. Unlike Ma Bell, these people don't help you right away. When I finally talked to someone, I was told to hold down the on button for 30 seconds. Are you serious? Every other device ever invented can be turned on by merely pushing a button. And how long exactly to I have to hold it? What if I don't hold it long enough and don't realize it? Then nothing happens. And once it comes on it still has to "warm up". My desktop computer goes through this, but I got a cell phone to carry for emergencies. I'd better never have an emergency. Also, when I enter the number, nothing happens. It's not like my landline, which figures out when I've finished dialing. No, I have to remember to press "Yes". And I can hardly hear. This thing's harder to hold than a regular phone with a "receiver". And how loud do I have to talk to be heard? They used to call this company greatcall.com. None of my calls were ever great. I'd cancel because $20 a month seems a lot for something I never use, but it's good to have this for emergencies. As if it worked! This company wants to claim their product is easy to use for people who have trouble? They need to try harder.

Actually, on June 5,2022, I had a much better experience. I got through right away to a friendly and helpful person. He couldn't solve my problem because as hard as I tried, I couldn't do anything. But I had recently been told to upgrade my software and once I did that, my bill would show that I had done that. My bill never showed this, but instead said I would receive a new phone free. I did not. I asked him, and he said he would get me to the person who could get the phone for me. Again, no waiting this time. With some effort, the very friendly person said she could send me the new phone. It'll be just like the old one, but since the old one doesn't work, that will be an improvement.

Or will it? I have the new phone. Someone left me a voice mail. I don't know that I've ever had one. A voice told me I should set up my voicemail but didn't make it clear how not to because I wanted to listen and then respond. Apparently I recorded my greeting while pushing every button and yelling at the phone. I finally heard the message but in the process of trying to get to where I respond, I kept seeing that I had changed the ringer volume. Which I never intended to do. It was fortunate as I tried to figure out how to turn off the phone I realized I was on vibrate because the person I responded to responded immediately after I was told to leave a voice mail and didn't.

Easy? Not yet.
