“False Advertising, no communication, & they left me hanging for 6 weeks”

I ordered the Homestead Table Lamp from Woodland Creek's Log Furniture Place. I ordered it because I was sent an email from them on December 14th 2020 (still have the e-mail), advertising that this specific lamp was on sale... I ordered it on the same day I received the email. It is advertised as taking 5 to 7 weeks. After 6 weeks, I called them to ask for a status of the order. Since I called on a Saturday she was not able to get me a status till Monday (yesterday). Monday came & went & I heard nothing back. So I knew something was wrong and called them back on Tuesday (today). At that point I was told that the item was "Out of stock" & it would be another 4 weeks! First, why did they e-mail me a False Advertisement?! If it was "Out of Stock" why did they send me the e-mail advertising this lamp on sale... and advertising (even today) that it is NOT "Out of Stock", that it takes 5 to 7 weeks?! Second, in the 6 weeks I was waiting for my order they couldn't have told me that it was "Out of Stock"?! That is just unacceptable and extremely unprofessional to not let your customer know & to let your customer wait 6 weeks & only telling your customer it's "Out of Stock" AFTER the customer calls back to ask for a status of the order! I think it's possible they never filled the order in the first place, that it fell through the cracks... but they told me it was "Out of Stock"... so if they didn't order it, then they lied to me about it being "Out of Stock"! Either way, whichever of the above scenarios it is, it is totally unacceptable and can't believe they run their business this way and in either scenario is unethical & unprofessional. I requested a full refund which I hope they will actually follow through with in the 3 to 7 days I was told... and I will not buy furniture or anything else from them in the future. I will go elsewhere. I removed my personal/payment info from my Proof of Purchase (a purchase I never received) because I don't need any identity theft problems.

I paid a fortune for a mirror like they show on their site (Beartooth Aspen Cheval Mirror with extra character). They show a picture that has a mirror of at least 18" width and a total width of 28.5". Mine arrived with a mirror of 9.5", enough for a skinny 12 year old to see a reflection. They say it rotates so that one can use it as an aid when dressing. When unscrewed, mine rotates parallel to the floor and that is the only position it will hold. When I complained, their representative Chase Stevenson justified it because it was made to the specifications. He ignored the fact that it wasn't functional.

Tip for consumers:
If you purchase, remember that the pictures shown of the product are not necessarily indicative of what you will receive. Only a suggestion of what it could look like.

This compliant is about how the product is delivered
I Ordered 6 leather chairs. When I called, I was told by the customer service mgr. Who took my order that I qualified for free shipping. When the items arrived by Fed Ex and not a freight truck the driver dropped a 5-foot x 5-foot x 3-foot wooden crate at the entrance to my house and walked away without having inspected them or getting a signature. So, what you need to know when ordering from this company is you are responsible for using a crowbar and hammer to open the create and then disposing it. The hauling the furniture in and if there's a problem well, I don't know how they would handle it but given my experience I can't say I feel confident. After explaining that I never had furniture delivered where they would just leave a crate and you couldn't inspect the merchandise. In fact, the customer service mgr. Said: " Per our shipping manager, FedEx actually performed a threshold delivery for you. You chose our free shipping option and would've been responsible for unloading the furniture. Instead, the driver unloaded for you." I guess he wanted a 73-year-old to jump up on the Fed EX truck and unload it? And did they think Fed ex would allow that?

Got to the shipping method and discovered their horrible customer service once they get your money.
Free shipping means they will bring it to the bottom of your driveway but YOU have to wrestle your crates of furniture out of their truck. If you want to use the truck's lift gate it's $95. If you are willing to pay the $1,085 to have your crates of furniture brought to your actual house, they will drop your crates someplace dry, but not uncrate them or bring them in your house. If there is something wrong with a piece once uncrated, YOU have to deal with how to get it back to them and hope for a replacement months later. When I called and raised these issues with them I was met with condescension.

After reading these other reviews, Thank God we didn't buy from these scam artists. RUN, do not walk from this place.

In response to their company spokesperson's comments below, he can go ahead and publish ALL the conversations I had with them. I have nothing to hide. And apparently making fun of my name isn't condescending at all. Trying to bully me will not make me retract my review.

I am getting ready to place an $8000 order and just got to your shipping methods. I am astounded at the lack of customer service once my items are paid for. We would need the $1,084.50 delivery method. We are on a culdesac with our house up a hill. I can't believe that with the other deliveries you expect people to climb in the truck and wrestle the crates out themselves. I'm not even sure that is legal. Even with the expensive delivery method my items will be dumped out in the crates so I can't see if they are damaged upon delivery. I am going to have to rethink if I want to order from your company.

Understandable. Not everyone needs the service so we don't build it into the price as that would be unfair for the majority 95%+ of our customers. I also feel our 3rd party way overcharges for the service and I recommend local moving companies vs using our 3rd party service

Yes, most take the free shipping and have help for delivery or the liftgate with help. But there are some that need more of a service as well so we try to accommodate for all needs

While keeping it fair for most, on average we have 500 orders a month, with 95% choosing the free shipping or liftgate delivery.

We own a produce company with truck bays and dock workers. If we decide to order we will have our items delivered there and use our own truck and employees to get the items to our house. Most people don't have that option. Also, once uncrated, what are my options if an item comes damaged?

Oh great question - if an item is damaged just send us a picture of it and we will rectify, we just ask that the damage is noted within 72 hours.

We purchased an entire bedroom suite from these folks. When the bed was set up, we realized that our mattress did not fit in the recessed portion of the platform bed. We assumed that we simply ordered the wrong size frame for our mattress. When we decided to purchase a new mattress that will fit in the frame, we realized that there is NO mattress that fits in the frame. The CA king mattress is too long, and the king mattress is too wide. So there is literally NO mattress that fits this frame. What kind of furniture manufacturer builds a bed frame that fits no mattress? When I emailed them about this, here was their response:

"You would have needed to call us about the size of the bed once you received it. We have a 1 year warranty on our furniture. Past that time, we are unable to offer a replacement. However, If you decide to order the correct size bed we would like to give you a major discount. The price for a California King/King would be $2129. 40. Please give us a call if you would like to place the order."

I'm astonished that they actually thought I would pay them more money to correct their blunder. These folks are truly awful.

I ordered a reclaimed wood dartboard cabinet on 8/21/19. The website stated it takes 2-4 weeks to build and another 1-2 weeks to ship. On 9/29/19 I called and left a message asking the status of the order. Two days later I get a phone call stating that their supplier can't build it in the color I selected. I receive this information over 5 weeks from when I ordered the product. Since they called me after I left them a voice mail asking them about the order, I'm certain they didn't place the order with their supplier. I cancelled the order and asked for a refund. We'll see if they do that.

I bought a wooden bed frame kit for $400 plus approx 70 to have it finished for a total of $469. The bed frame kit was crap. Consisted of 4 - 4" x 4" posts and some 2 x 4's Some of the 2 x 4's had been doweled on the end and 1-1/2" holes had been drilled in the posts to fit them into. The doweled ends had not been sanded, not had the rest of the wood for that matter. They slapped on a stain finish and that was it. If I use the thing... a big if... it will require quite a lot of sanding and then refinishing. I realize $469 is not a whole bunch of money but as a builder I know the value of the wood used may have been $50 max. They could have at least spent 30 mins and sand the rough doweled ends... as it turned out I wasted $469. They may have some other good products but beware of the bed kits.

The bed kit in this review was sold as a rough sawn post bed kit. The manufacturer of it does not sand the posts, otherwise the saw marks in the wood would have been removed and it would make the bed less rustic. Then it would just be smooth post non rustic bed. The doweled ends are not sanded either as they fit inside the wood and will not be seen/felt.

The wood may have cost $50, but then there is the labor of circle sawing the wood, cutting the wood to the correct lengths, tenoning the posts, drilling the holes in the correct areas, staining, finishing, packaging, shipping, etc. As a builder I'm sure Garry realizes this, but I wanted to pass it on to anyone else who may read this review.

We sure do appreciate Garry's comment on us having good products other than this particular bed kit which did not meet his expectations.
