I have been a customer for 40 years. 99.9 percent satisfaction. And if there is any sort of a problem, they take care of it with no argument. Will be a customer till I die.

I was there for over 10 years and always got fair service until the bank took stands with gov policy that they didn't do field training or proper in house training for us to be treated fair. The new bank lawsuit filed for the 2900 rule requires you fill out a irs form to proof your not a drugs store or criminal doing something wrong! Well my car got smashed and I was harassed for too many ach payments bother me too many times asking me why when now today it's what saves paper and is now the only way to do bills. This and I went to bank with a new idiots in charge with hunt valley bank account s I asked my teller I heard it is there any new rules to put moneys in our accounts no answer? I asked what is taking so long she said she had fill out irs form my cash. Folks in line cat called me knew the rule lol at me security code with nitwits caused me to asked for money back and the dum manager calls our house demanding I come back to fill it out that attempted to avoid is a report too he said it makes us safer lol 450 people shot that week in Vegas's night clubs wow real safe we our … this dum bank manager made a big deal about nothing cause I am self employed and my girl friend just lending it temporarily till insurance paid with md law suits to cover minimum fee for my small damages and I got my account permanently closed for ever by this nitwits! Never trust any one in any Jobs's they lie lie lie and this bank doesn't care about me you or any one else! Use other banks in your areas b of a Howard's new

I ended up with M&T Bank on my mortgage along with Loan Servicing as the loan servicing agent. I have had countless problems over the years with Loan Servicing company. Loan Servicing has many names. Do not trust this company. I now know why M&T uses them. I received an escrow analysis over a month ago. (I WOULD LIKE A MORTGAGE ATTORNEY TO CONTACT ME IF SOMEONE WOULD). I could pay about 350 or pay an extra amount which was double what the escrow needed. I got a new insurance policy with more than double less that what they needed and asked for a new analysis. I was told they would contact me shortly. It has been over a month. Do not trust them to do anything in your favor and they do this on purpose thinking most people will give up. What is the recourse? Two payments later no one has contacted me. This company and their servicing agent is why the housing mortgage system is not trustworthy. Why is the loan originator having to pay for the mortgage companies mortgage insurance when they cheated the country in 2008. Why? Why American business can not take care of their customers instead of trying to take as much money as the government will allow. DO NOT USE THIs or the age if you can avoid it.

Tip for consumers:
Do your research and ask for all fees upfront before signing a mortgage agreement. Question every fee and especially they way they calculate escrow accounts. Especially escrow accounts. Especially these two companies.

I finally got a secured credit card from M&T, but it took over a week of jumping through hoops. Their customer service leaves much to be be desired.

They will take and keep all your money, but they won't give you a credit card, for bogus, unsubstantiated reasons. I have to wait 7 years for my credit to clear. I'm not going to live that long.

M&T seems to have failed to keep up with modern technology. Its website was outdated 20 years ago. It lacks any functionality that would keep it with pace with its competitors.

All of the local bank branches are only open from 9AM to 5PM and seem to be in the sketchiest, farthest reaches of the city, so an online presence is so important. It is unfortunate that they dropped the ball.

If you try to use any of the transfer apps like Zelle, your account will freeze, and you have to wait on the phone to unlock your account. I was never able to use my Zelle because my account would just re-freeze when I tried to make a transfer again. Also, my account would just freeze out of nowhere, and when I would call customer service (which, again, takes an hour) they would say that there was a suspicious charge being made. Mind you, I live in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area for most of the year, and my mailing address is a Maryland address five minutes from Virginia, so even though I would do all of my transactions in the same county of Maryland, it is possible that a vendor processed those from down the road in Virginia. This seemed wild to the bank systems.

Putting money in your bank account can take up to 10 business days. I know most companies say this and that they usually are much faster, but M&T has never been faster. Autopay, however, is instantaneous. I have overdraft fees from when it's taken much longer to transfer money through the internal system. They never refund you, ever. Nevermind I signed up for an account that isn't supposed to overdraft - I specifically wanted one that would decline the charge and chose it for that reason.

The website is decrepit. You'll notice a lot of things are just flat out missing. Some of this is just a lack of bells and whistles. They never will try to sell you their credit card or do a points system or whatever. No, they just gave up.

If you have trouble logging in, you will be in for a wild ride. Their IT system is a total crap-shoot. Their security verification is just random questions about you. What are the first five numbers of your social security number? What color is your car? How many bedrooms in your house when you bought it? It can be really awkward when you find out that the bank knows THAT much about you. Yes, it will keep thieves out of your account, but also, it can keep you out of your account depending on how wild the question is. And they will be extremely condescending the entire time. "It says here your password is four months old. Don't you know you're supposed to change your password every three months?" Yeah okay buddy.
