“The advice of this office was detrimental for my case”

James W.
1/22/16

I was involved in a child custody case in which I defended myself. However, in order to prepare myself for the case and the court hearing I consulted the office of Michael Muchnick and had a consultation. The lawyer helped me to fill out the paperwork for the court. There were no problems regard to latter. However the lawyer gave me bad advice in terms of the expectations I could have for the outcome of the case. Since this is a case where parents are not living in the same country and the child is less than 5 years old I asked him if it would be feasible to have the child come over during the summer months. He mentioned that no judge would give pernission for a child under 12 years to leave the USA to visit a parent. This information turned out to be completely false. Having consulted other lawyers whose knowledge is more up to date. It turns out that judges do grant the above in some cases. I have made decisions and signed a parental agreement based on bad advice from this office.
