“After four years of having a site with that via weebly they took payment and deleted my site”

Frances W.
8/4/20

After having a site I built myself with the weebly site builder through MYDOMAIN they took payment for the next three years on 7/2/2020 and two weeks later my website pops up a forbidden error message. A few clients alerted me to this and after four calls and numerous chat attempts nobody can tell me anything other than I never had a site with them. I even have initial screen shots of when I was building the website to prove otherwise but the company doesn't want to hear anything about it. Stay far away from this bogus company.

This is the copy of the response that this company gave me when they themselves stayed in 24 hours with the busy domain of a client that I did not renew on time.
However I have domains that expired 5 years ago to availability.

"Unfortunately, at this time the domain name is no longer available for renewal.

If you have any further questions, please chat with us at https :// helpchat..."

Been with these hucksters for many years, now decided to transfer my domains elsewhere, since their user interface is absolutely crap. Requested the AuthCode and it never gets sent to me. Tried 10 times still not arrived. Chatted to their support for 2 hours going around in circles, their test emails get through to me, but the AuthCode is nowhere to be seen. By definition this company (and EIG Ensurance) are scammers. Lookup the list of companies owner by this privacy equity parent and never use them.

After 15 years mydomain decided that my email address associated with the domain was not validated, so they placed the domain into "clienthold" status, which means all DNS entries are removed and it does not function at all. Now, the email address associated with this website was also 15 years old and out of date, so there was no easy fix to get it back online. There was zero correspondence to the account email (which was correct) warning of this.

Their backend hardly functions, you will find it timing out quite often and details not updating.

I would stay the hell away from mydomain, they are extremely incompetent and no one should put something as important as a website in their control, they will only ruin it.

It literally does not get any worse than this lot - I'd sooner move into an Ebola ward in Sierra Leone. I signed up with them TWO years ago but when I found that their hosting and add-ons were so not user friendly, I switched to Go-Daddy in August 2017 about two weeks after signing to My Domain (because My Domain were so $#*!e). GoDaddy are the dogs bollocks as far as I'm concerned. My Domain should have stopped their emails but they didn't. On and on they came. A year later, I received another slew of emails which steadily gathered in pace coming up to the renewal date of my original signing with My Domain - happily I didn't put an auto-renewal option on my credit card otherwise they would have renewed everything until the cows came home. It's impossible to get them to stop emailing me and the emails are quite threatening in their content. They have stated that I owe them 0.00 - yes, nothing, not a cent, but the aggressive emails continue to come. You owe us money they assert. I say their bills are at nil - but My Domain is ignoring this and will not stop sending the emails despite my asking them to stop. So I've decided to show these people up for the bullies that they are - today I received an email stating that despite owing them nothing, my website is down when it is alive, well and kicking $#*! on GoDaddy domain hosting. Their wording would scare the $#*! out of anyone who isn't absolutely certain of their rights and facts. I told My Domain that I would write a review and here it is. Avoid them like the plague. Run as far away and as fast as you can even if you trip across this site and they offer you every single facility going for free. You have more chance of getting your jewellery back from a bunch of grave robbers about to come down off a week's binge on crack cocaine.

Used for 2 years and cancelled my service since I no longer wanted the two domains I had hosted by this company. I cancelled my subscription, deleted my credit card information and thought I was done. Nope every year for the past 6 years these crooks will try and charge my credit card. I then have to wait days for this crooked charge to post so I can dispute it with my credit card provider. It isn't a lot of money but these people don't even respond to support tickets about a refund and cancelling. So I have to file a charge back twice a year when both of my cancelled domains get charged.

My Domain.Com is very cool.

Going for a job interview and don't want to give your "*******@YAHOO.COM" address? Through MyDomain.Com you can look and see if your domain name is taken. Many times the dot com is gone, but dot net, info, tv, etc. is available!

I purchased 4 domain names and one email service. For $9 a year I have something cooler than "Yahoo.Com" to give potential clients and 5 email accounts with unlimited size mailboxes (Email account service is $20 a year). Very handy as my wife is a graphic designer and sends HUGE (285MB) files to and fro.

I recommend it to anyone who has their own site as they ALSO have site hosting (but I'm not quite technically proficient enough for that).
-------------------UPDATE------------------
As always, smooth sailing breeds complacency. Was charged ($245) for something without being billed. Had charge reversed (begged the bank and they overturned the overdraft fee) and am now moving all of my business to Hover.Com

I have been using mydomain.com for more than 10 years, but recently in the past 2 years, they have been going around promoting their SITELOCK subscribtion. If your account isn't subscribed to SITELOCK, chances are, your website's going down. They will tell you your site has malicious files and down your site, to get it back up, only you can remove them. If you don't know how to, then you have to pay SITELOCK to do it for you. I had a few dormant sites and did not even log in or upload anything, then they claim that it was from my computer. If you host multiple sites on one account like I did, ALL your sites will go down. And it takes them ages to get it back up! 2 years back, they tried this trick, just this week, they try it again. GOODBYE mydomain.com, I'm bringing my business elsewhere! For the rest, don't host with them!

Avoid hosting your sites here at all costs.
I switched to mydomain.com years ago when GoDaddy was doing something sketchy.
Since then I have found it excruciating to work with mydomain's customer service.
Recently a Wordpress website we hosted with them went down. They told us it was because it was infected with malware. I don't know about you, but I expect that a domain provider/host would at a minimum have protections installed to prevent this kind of thing. Then, I get a series of sales calls from their team trying to sell me the "solution" to the problem (which they allowed to happen), offering to fix it for the low, low price of $350. This is not the first time they tried these high pressure tactics. What a racket! Without any options, we bought into their scam.

Since then I have transferred ownership of that particular company to some associates, and got on chat support to cancel the sitelock renewal. The agent confirmed it was canceled. Days later, I get an email telling me that the $350 charge would be auto-renewed. WTF, right? So, another 15 minutes on with tech support from India and they only canceled "part" of the sitelock service, not the expensive one. Wow. When I asked for a confirmation email, or a copy of the chat log, they said "we don't do that." Are you kidding me? That's incredibly shady and unprofessional.

I don't have time to deal with this kind of time wasting, and I'm guessing you don't either. Stay far away from this company.

I purchased a new domain name for a new business from My Domains because I had used them to purchase two other domain names 3-4 years ago. They show a good deal but I did not buy the privacy add on which doulbes the cost because I did not understand it and hadn't had to before and between 13th and 16th four days My email is full of spam and my phone is getting constant calls from wed design spam! Bull $#*!. So I went back and bought their privacy but never again. JUST SELL exactly what we need for a price that is fair and don't leave ignorant unsuspecting people in such a mess and hassle. YOU GUYS SUCK!

They took down my site, they sent out emails to an old email. When I tried to ask for accounting and pay the bill by credit card they said they first needed to authenticate me? What? Why cant I just pay you and you get my site back up and running. They didn't care that I was loosing $. Company policies over customer satisfaction = Sucks! I'll be migrating the site in my slow times!

If you paid snapnames.com on a back order catch and it is at mydomain.com you just got ripped off. Mydomain.com will put them selves as admin of record, never send you a renewal notice, and lock the domain down, never to be unlocked ever, no matter what, now matter how many times you try, you will not be able to unlock the domain they will steal the domain from you. Even if you do get your email address as admin updated correctly, It expires because you could not get it unlocked to transfer out. At this point they auto send this stolen domain to enom where you can buy it again for $160 within the 40 grace period, mean while it is up at enom auctions as expired. So your only resolve is to send a help ticket to snapnames.com asking for a refund for the money you paid them to catch the domain in the first place. I personally think we need a sharp lawyer to start a class action lawsuit against snapnames.com and mydomain.com as co defendants, for us all to join in on. Ya dream on

I started with mydomain.com 18 years ago when I registered my first domain. I needed a few simple things: email forwarding, custom DNS, website forwarding, and that was all included in the registration fee.

Over time, they have made their "control panel" more confusing to use, obfuscated the recurring pricing and billing structure, and ruined the free stuff. The straw that broke the camel's back was when they downgraded my account to "domain parking" from "hosting", and broke my email forwarding.

There are less expensive registrars out there, and most will include domain privacy for free. (mydomain.com charges for domain privacy. They entice you with a low-price "teaser" rate that quickly increases year-to-year.)

On the plus side, my experience with phone support has been good overall. Be sure to call during normal business hours if you want a remedy that is out of the ordinary, though. After hours support appears to be provided by a far-east call center, and the personnel there can only do basic technical support.

We have been using My Domain for years for a small business. We had very few problems until recently... It started with them connecting with the SCAM Site Lock. Luckily, after getting harassed by that company for months, we made a few threats & they have not called, but that was a hassle, and started with My Domain using them as their Malware protectors...
About a month ago, our site went down... It had an error message, I tried fixing it myself, waiting, calling them, everything! Created a problem ticket on 3/23... called on 3/24 & said it would be fixed by 10pm... Wasn't. Called 3/27, said it should be fixed by the end of the day... Wasn't. Called 3/28 - said they'll e-mail us a confirmation of when it should be resolved... Never received the e-mail. 3/29, called again - said they have their professionals working on it. Couldn't give me a time frame... Couldn't tell me anything. This was technical support... Called 3/30, created a new ticket raising cane because they were taking so long to fix the issue... Site was finally fixed on 3/31.
The next week, I edited my website - making some modern updates that were long overdue. I published it on 3/31 - didn't show changes... Waited over the weekend. 4/3, I speak with their technical support. They tell me they found the issue & updated & corrected it & that the changes would take 1-12 hours to show... (which I should have known was crap because I have published websites before, & the results were instant)... But nevertheless, I said thank you & this morning, 4/5, I get on & of course, the old site is still up. I contact them again. The person, who barely speaks English, tries telling me to go to a new directory and it will work. I said "I'm not sure what that means... like a different browser?" They say "Okay." What am I supposed to do with that?! I have now been on a chat for nearly an hour & we are getting nowhere. Ready to be DONE with My Domain. All they do is pacify you for a day or so at a time until they feel like fixing the problem... which they never tell you about. Never tell you what it is. Never tell you anything! Ugh... Just don't do it.

I have been with mydomain since 2003. As long as things were simple everything was fine. If you want a domain name or an email, my domain is OK. Now I have a website that has more than one page, they can't seem to handle it. In the past 2 weeks, my website has been down 11 days out of 14. I have had extensive contact with web support and they say everything is fine but I have no access to my website on the internet. Moreover, they LOST the last 3 years of my website! As in lost 4 page of my website and 2 1/2 years of my blogs. It's a good thing my webmaster had a backup. Mydomain didn't.
For the first 4 days, their support techs didn't know what the problem was with the website until they discovered the server was down. This is a preliminary problem anyone should have checked first.
I would not recommend my domain for anything except getting a domain name. They seem to be competent at that if nothing else.

They are beyond terrible. As the other commentators on this site have stated, mydomain.com are erratic, unstable and the level of customer service is shockingly poor.

Anything which is simple with every other domain name registrar is made a painful process by mydomain. For instance, changing your nameservers or moving domains to other registrars, which takes a matter of seconds to change the settings in the interfaces of other registrars, involves writing a dozen emails to mydomain.

Incompetent and bureacratic. They've caused me so much misery. No wonder the web is full of negative reviews about them more than any other major domain name registrar I've seen.
