We started with Optima Tax back in November of 2022. We reached out to them asking if they were able to help us with our 940's for federal. They stated yes but it was going to cost $22,000.00 to do so. We paid our first payment on 11-17-2022. We finished paying them on 8-17-2023. Since we paid them in full in the amount of $22,000.00, we have not heard anything from them! When I would call, they would ask to send them the last 3 months of pay stubs. I have tired numerous times to ask for the resolution from the IRS but no response. Need Help! Don't call them...

2. INVESTIGATION $295: There's a significant discrepancy in the term 'investigation.' In reality, it primarily involves a request for IRS transcripts, which are also accessible at no cost through your IRS account portal. Obtaining these transcripts, even upon request, can often be a challenging endeavor. In my case, I decided to part ways with their services and terminate my contract within two months of hiring them, fortunately making an early exit.

If you decide to engage in this process with them, it's crucial to insist on receiving copies of the documents as soon as they claim they are ready. As a client, you have every right to possess all materials pertaining to your case. They may mention the size of the file as a reason not to provide them immediately, but you can suggest having the documents mailed to you, if that is more convenient. If possible, wait for the documents to arrive and meticulously review them before committing to a contract with them. Compare the documents you receive with what is readily available on your IRS portal. Should you discover any valuable information, you can then cautiously proceed to the next step of considering their services.

3. CONTRACT AGREEMENT: If your situation allows for it, consider negotiating the 15-day refund period and having it explicitly included in the contract before finalizing the agreement. It's essential to diligently follow up on any services you've engaged them for during these initial 15 days. It's worth noting that they are unlikely to provide a full refund. For example, if you've paid them $5,000, you may be surprised to receive an offer of only $500 as a refund.

4. SERVICES: Their document view system is limited to one-way access. You can only see the documents you've uploaded and signed, with no visibility into their activities on their end. A reputable company that has nothing to conceal typically provides transparency in this regard. It's important to be aware that you might not have the opportunity to converse with a 'tax professional' or a dedicated 'case manager.' Most of your interactions will likely be with their front-line customer service agents.

5. OVERALL EXPERIENCE & RECOMMENDATIONS: It's crucial to maintain meticulous records of all your interactions and communications throughout your engagement. This includes documenting conversations and any relevant details. In addition to sharing your feedback and complaints on review websites, consider reporting your concerns to organizations like the Business Consumer Alliance and BBB.

If your experience involves clear instances of unethical practices, as mine did, it's advisable to report such valid complaints to relevant government agencies like the FTC and even the IRS, if applicable. Please ensure that your submissions are based on genuine grievances and unethical conduct. It's worth noting that numerous complaints with vague, generic responses from OTR have surfaced, and this issue should be addressed. OTR operates in an arena where consumers are facing significant financial challenges, and it's imperative that their services are administered professionally and with the utmost care. Sadly, in my experience, the IRS provided more informative assistance than OTR did.

I contacted Optima with the hopes of getting help with IRS back taxes and all I received was a bunch of bull. Everything they tell you is read off of a script. After I paid the initial fee I was told that someone would call me to confirm information and go over other details, which they did a week later. I requested to speak with the gentleman that was handling my case and was given the run around until I threatened to cancel. I finally received a call back from the representative and was not pleased at all. I was advised that I owed the IRS far more than I actually did and then was advised that I would have to pay Optima a small fortune in order for them to handle my case. I declined the offer because I couldn't afford their fee. I was told in the beginning that I would get my money back if canceled within 14 days and have yet to receive a dime. I do not and will not recommend Optima Tax Relief to Anyone...Ever!

I inquired about tax relief help through Optima and mmy experience has been great. Optima representatives are knowledgeable, courteous, and professional.

It cost me $10,000.00 more than my original tax dept when I hired these crooks. One of the biggest financial mistakes I have ever made! One star because this system wouldn't let me submit with zero stars.

It took a while to get everything settled with the IRS, but it was definitely worth the wait!. I did not get to talk with all of the "behind the scene" people,and they are the unsung heroes,in my opinion,but I did have the pleasure of communicating with Adriana and she did a fantastic job! I have been waiting over a year now for a resolution and they never call back when requested. The people you talk to say they aren't part of your team so they can't help you. And the "team" never calls back. I paid over two thousand dollars and I believe it was all a scam.

The $11,000 + that OPTIMA STOLE FROM ME while providing ZERO TAX RELIEF.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Thank me later! Paid them almost $5,000 for to fill 3 tax returns. I thought these people were professionals and knew the ropes of getting the most out of a tax return. (for example, tax breaks, First Initiative Programs ect) That is a scam. The First Initiative program ONLY puts you on a payment plan. You can do that yourself. Spent to much money to get the bare minimum and I ended up owning more under these people. A total rip off!

All the people I worked with were very professional and able to help me with all problems I encountered.

I am not completely finished as of yet. So far everything is going well. Didn't understand the lingo about taxes. I understand the process because it's explained to me what they're doing. I wil know something soon I keep you posted.

I understand my taxes better thanks to Optima Tax Relief. Also they have a payment plan for their services. I highly reccomend them to solve your tax problem!

Note that all those who helped along the way did a great Job, but in the outcome of the solution i thought by those commercials you have on the TV i would be able to get a better reduction on the taxes i owe, but that was not the case.
As per Optima, the rules are needed to be following IRS guidelines and i did not Qualify as i understood, but again i thought that i would get a better deal, when i asked Optima representative i was told that Optima states in the fine line that Optima is not responsible in the final word from the IRS, all is understood, but i will have to pay more that 30k in 72 months, so this is only issue i had with Optima, every thing else was good.
