“Wouldn't honor referral reward based on in-app Zip purchase, constantly lied ect”

J T.
7/7/23

Set up was easy, however I saw the Zip's true colors when they wouldn't honor my Zip app purchase with the referral reward. Meaning, if you signed up with someone's code, then bought something online through Zip's app you'd be able to use your referral reward to pay the last of your installments off of that same purchase. When I didn't see the reward amount reflected in my payment schedule(as stated by Zip on their site), I made sure to contact customer service immediately after I bought something. I was told by the rep that it'll reflect it soon and then was brushed off so they 'could help other customers'. I thought okay, that was kinda rude but at least I'll have my last payment taken care of. Nope. Weeks went by, my reward was about to expire and I didn't see in my payment schedule my reward paying anything off. So I contact a rep again, and was told I didn't use the app? HUH? Despite downloading the app when I used it the first time and purchasing something, I somehow...didn't use the app? That made zero sense. I even brought up their coworker confirming that yes I did use Zip's app like I was supposed to. There was no reason for my reward to not pay my zip loan. I was brushed off and told to use the app again. So far its been back and forth with customer service rep after rep trying to convince me I didn't use the app, then they let my referral reward expire ect. I even sent screenshots I took of the confirmation email of using the app for the purchase and the first rep who further confirmed me doing so. Then a few reps finally admitted that I did use the app, only to tell me they'd give me the reward again but I'd have to buy something with the app again! Like wow, so this entire thing can happen again? I suspect they don't want people to actually use the referral reward(or let many people use it despite getting it the right way) hence why the back and forth with them trying to pretend I never purchased through the app. As well as attempting to make me do yet another purchase through the app. It didn't work though because I'm certain the same problem would arise again. At this point I'm going to reverse charge the payments with my bank. Idk what's wrong with these guys. All they had to do is be honest and add my ref reward to my payment and call it a day. It's been months now, they're ignoring me. I would've respected them more if they admitted to their mistake, then properly credited me but oh well on them I guess. They made themselves look bad. Good luck to anyone who tries to follow Zip's own rules because they don't.

Tip for consumers:
They really love to gaslight their customers. If you think this was bad, I've seen Better Business Bureau online reviews where other customers experienced something worst but always falling in line with Zip lying and treating customers with common decency until they're embarrassed online.

Quadpay is an ok payment platform, does not seem to offer an fair amount on the payment platform. I have been buying and paying with Quadpay on time all payments (sometimes even sooner than when it's required) and I am still at the current limit (no increase) -- I have written to Quadpay and you get customer service (probably not even in the USA) and they don't seem to know how to handle the email's they receive and takes time for response. Quadpay is an ok payment option but it could use some work. They have now announced that Zip is acquiring Quadpay and I hope they will work more closely with customers and offer more limit increases, and more compassion for your customers because without us going out and purchasing everything you would not be in business. I think many companies need to realize that fact. So this I could not give 5 stars for many reasons but I hope with the new Zip format they can improve many options for loyal customers.
