The Recording Connection teaches audio engineering, music production, electronic music production, hip hop and beat making, live DJ, live sound and music business through a one-on-one, mentor/apprentice system of education. Each student is paired with a mentor--w working professional in their chosen field of study. For instance, an aspiring audio engineering student will be paired with a professional audio engineer who has worked with numerous name artists. The student learns in the professional audio engineer's recording studio where they have access to all the latest gear and are in a working, commercial environment where they can take in how the audio business functions in the real world, how to acquire and deal with clients, and what real-world pacing is like.
The Recording Connection traces its roots back to 1986, when founder James Petulla started Radio Connection, a one-one-one mentor/apprentice school in the broadcast arts. Since then the company has grown and evolved to include Film Connection, Recording Connection and CASA Schools (culinary arts). All four schools employ the mentor/apprentice, one-on-one, real-world model of education developed by James back in 1986.
