“Fired for a rule that never existed.”

I used to work for a security company call IIdon at a business building called the Union in Dallas, TX. During that time of the pandemic the company, IIdon never ordered us or encouraged us to wear a mask and neither did the building manager that ran the Union. One day last year when I was leaving work and cutting through the plaza of the Union, I saw several attended children playing in one of the square gray fountains. The plaza of the Union is about 120 feet long and about sixty feet wide and is surrounded by several restaurants, the Union building, and a high-rise apartment complex called the Christopher. The plaza also has a lawn, and it has two large fountains that I consider to be dangerous because they collect algae so quickly which makes them very slippery for those who want to play in them. Both fountains have such very sharp edges that if ever a baby or child ever fell on one of the sharp edges that can be found on the outside edge or the inside edge of the fountains that it could cause considerable trauma to their head. So, when I was trying to tell the children not to play in the pool and was trying to find out where their parents were one of the owner's who just came out of The Henry with his cronies, got very mad at me. When I tried explaining that the children had no current parental supervision and the situation about the fountains, he yelled at me several times "Where's your mask? I politely told him that we had never been told that we had to wear a mask. He then accused me of lying and yelled, "You need to get your mask on if you are going to be in the plaza!" After noticing that many of his cronies were not wearing a mask I then commented, "But some of your friends aren't wearing a mask." He then yelled, "That doesn't matter!" and then shouted, "Where is your mask, you need to have a mask on!" I then said "whatever" and walked away and caught the Dart rail home. Two days later I was fired. To that arrogant jerk, I just want to say thank you for getting me fired, for with the super unemployment that I won, I was able to get a car, write a book, and start a business. If I ever see you, I will politely thank you and shake your hand for this major windfall. It will be easy to recognize you, for you see, you look exactly like that uncle in my family that my parents never wanted me to be alone with for any given amount of time, for some strange reason. Oh yes, Happy Thanksgiving.
