“Worst moving company! Rip off!”

TL; DR: Lost and damaged items with no remorse or compensation. Terrible service, avoid at all costs! My experience with Reebie Storage and Moving Company was a nightmare. I moved from Illinois to Florida. Everything to be sent to Florida was labeled and marked with a blue tag. A representative from the company came to the house to take inventory so he could order moving supplies. The initial contact was positive, but after that, things went downhill fast. The movers came twice, once to crate oversize items and take them to a storage unit, the second time to load the van. The first red flag was when the movers crated and took a 3x4 foot table top and left the base. There were a couple of other items not crated that should have been. When I called to have the table moved to storage and the other items crated the company refused to come back and finish the job until moving day more than a month away. This interfered with staging the house for sale. The person who came to the house to estimate the number of boxes and types of boxes failed miserably. For example, specialty boxes were needed for the televisions. The representative clearly counted five TVs in our house when he came through, but only provided one box. Two wardrobe boxes were provided when we needed five. Due to a lack of sufficient packing supplies, (paper, tape, and boxes) to accommodate our belongings, the atmosphere was one of chaos. This angered the movers, and put enormous pressure on them and myself. The movers had no idea that they were supposed to pack kitchen dishes, art supplies, oversized cookware and large items. When the truck did leave our house, the movers had spent 12 hours instead if the expected 8 packing. Before moving I signed the Reebie contract that said I was responsible for counting the boxes that came into the new house. When the truck arrived at the house, multiple movers unloaded it concurrently. This made checking in each box impossible. There were hundreds of boxes. Movers were going in and out, and to various rooms all at the same time. Boxes were stacked so their labels could not be seen or reached. After the movers left and I started to unpack the boxes it was clear the back cushion to a sofa (3 feet by 2 feet- not small) was lost. Along with an expensive hand-woven tapestry I bought in Belgium. The movers indiscriminately emptied shelves of items in our Chicago home, not meant for moving, and sent them to Florida. Closets that had signs on them that said, NOTHING IN THIS CLOSET GETS MOVED were ignored. A drawing table arrived broken, 22 boxes, yes 22 boxes! That should have remained in Chicago had been moved to our new home. At least 9 of these boxes were filled with heavy books. One box was filled with 5 pair of winter boots. I dont need winter boots in Florida. I was charged by weight and number of boxes, for packing materials, and labor for all that was erroneously sent to Florida. When I asked for restitution (several times), the company refused saying it was my responsibility to have checked the boxes in- an impossibility the way the movers did their job. Even if I had checked the number of boxes I would not have known things were missing or wrongly sent until I opened them. I was told I had months to do this, but that was not true. This company holds itself out as professional. They know the routine of moving. The company knew in advance that checking in the hundreds of boxes in the manner that they were removed and taken into the house couldnt be done without adding hours to the job. The movers made it clear that was not going to happen. I ended up paying a tremendous amount to move and lost over $4000 due to missing or broken items. Reebies conduct from the get go is inexcusable. Moving with Reebie Storage and moving Company was a horrendous experience. Beware.
