Ordered an xenith epic helmet from these people on October 20th. The helmet was too small for my son. We were past the 30 day policy but they said we will work with you, which I liked. We got a new helmet from them four days later. New helmet fit great my son loves it. Good experience. Will use again for shoulder pads this spring.

I have ordered several times from SafetyFirstSports so this is an honest review of both the good and the bad of my personal experiences. I ordered colse to 2 thousand dollars in helmets and accessories from this company. Most of what I ordered arrived fairly quickly and I was told there may be some delay in some of the order. Took much longer than I expected however when it arrived not all parts were correct and some were missing. I was able to correct that however after correctly fitting and getting the helmet field ready I was told by the league that the helmet was not able to be used as it had no certification sticker. I contacted SafetyFirstSports and was ultimately told Sorry, we dont send out helmets without stickers. Well, thats simply not true. Later they emailed me to say " our helmets go through a 3 step safety inspection before being sent out so you will need to contact the vendor and here is the contact info". ZERO HELP just passing the blame to someone else. I will resolve the issue myself however I just want to make everybody aware of how fast they will run from your problem instead of trying to help correct it in any way. I will be very vocal in my area to warn people about doing business with SafetyFirstSports. There are many places online to buy from and I recommend using someone else. I just had an amazing experience using safetyfirstsports.com! I bought some new football equipment for my son and actually had customer service from a man that actually knew and played the game. With injuries being a key topic for today's parents he was very patient and informative with his answers. Thanks again!

The helmet i ordered came with the wrong Facemask. They also insured me that i get the Eyeshield i ordered refunded, because it wasnt in Stock. Almost 3 Months after the order still no money back.

Fast. Great product. Made my kids day. Good feeling knowing there safe as possible. Highly recommended. The first set didn't fit and they turned around quick the next sets to make it in time for my kids birthday. Good to talk to a human being and to guys and gals that have first experience in football and coaching. We need a coach. Hint hint.

What SafetyFirstSports.com does NOT tell you is that when you order a custom helmet there is no guarantee that you will get the correct color(even though you ordered it) and that manufactures may have a different version of a specific color. So if you return it they charge you a heavy restocking fee all because they failed to mention that the color you order may be correct. Otherwise you have to pay additional shipping plus an extra $40 to have it repainted. They are VERY slow to ship and respond. Not to mention they will delete any negative review off of their site which is why you only see 5 star reviews(which is deceitful). I highly suggest you look elsewhere and contact the manufacture directly and talk with them directly about the custom colors.

Contact the manufacture directly and don't do business with this company.

Moxi, In regards to the custom colors. We recommend a paint match if your looking to match a certain color which was recommend. If you choose a matte royal blue for instance it will be off the manufactures color not another manufactures color. Also we do not delete negative reviews, and sorry the standard manufacture color wasn't an exact match to what you were expecting.

I ordered a Schutt F7 custom youth football helmet for my 11 year old son over the weekend using the "SafeFirstSports" website. They called today to tell me that they didn't have a helmet in stock in a youth size large (in the color we needed), and suggested that an equivalent would be the adult large... As a craniofacial surgeon, this didn't sound right to me.

Further, the "expert" on the phone stated that the shell of the adult was polycarbonate and much stronger than the youth (acrylic), and that it was therefore a better helmet. Again, as a surgeon who deals in head and neck injuries, to my understanding this is not necessarily valid. When I asked the weight of the adult versus the youth helmet, the "expert" didn't know. When she eventually checked, the adult helmet was nearly 1/2 pound heavier than the youth helmet (6 oz. To be exact). The hardness of the adult helmet was achieved at a greater weight, which is a problematic when applied to a young player with immature head versus body proportions, i. E., head larger in proportion to the neck as compared to an adult). So much for safety first (before sales).

SafetyFirstSports should know that helmet weight matters, and a heavier helmet on a youth correlates with a greater potential for neck injury.

Second, the harder material is not necessarily better, particularly if it is heavier. Again, their "expert" had no idea, and given that there is arguably no more important piece of safety equipment in football than a helmet, in my opinion she should have known.

Third, when I asked to speak with her "manager" to let them know that they shouldn't offer adult helmets to children unless they are weight equivalent, this "manager" began our conversation by interrupting me and it all went downhill from there... When I asked to speak with her manager to let them know that they were not placing "safety first", she argued with me and then canceled my order.

MORAL: In my opinion, SafetyFirstSports appears to have little understanding of helmet safety in spite of their marketing name.

CONCLUSION: I ordered the exact same YOUTH helmet from $#*!'s at a comparable price, and it is scheduled to arrive as much as two weeks sooner.

SUGGESTION: Order from $#*!s instead.

Hello Peter,

Sorry you didn't have a great experience. What I believe the disconnect is that one of our customer service agents was trying to actually help and give you a five star rated helmet, as the youth models don't currently have a rating system.

As far as helmet weight, if that was your main concern there is lighter five star helmets available and other youth models available. Our customer service team tried to explain that but you were more interested in lecturing them. Thats great your a surgeon but your in a completely unrelated field outside of football safety. It would of been helpful to let them do there jobs instead of acting like an egomaniac. In that environment it's impossible to help a customer or educate them on football helmet safety. It is very rare we hope a customer doesn't shop with us or even play football. But your the type of elitist that will sue a local football team after your son turns an ankle. Glad you found another source.

Ordered a helmet June 20th. It's now Aug. 2. Still no helmet. Can't get a hold of anyone.
Left several messages. When I did get someone on the phone he said he would check on it and get back to me in 10 minuets. That was yesterday.
