“Supplier Sourcing”

Oscar R.

ThomasNet Team. I've been using ThomasNet for decades in numerous supply chain roles with different companies. Motorola, Nippon Sharyo, Sumitomo, Chamberlain and now Dayco to name a few. ThomasNet continues to be an excellent resource and experience every time. The site is user friendly with plenty of tools at your disposal. I especially like the one click RFI feature, which sends my request to 5 suppliers at once. Thank you, Oscar

“Complete Nightmare”

Matteo V.

I think this is my first time ever writing a negative review for a company, because it was that bad. I recently finished a 12-month advertising period with them and have nothing to show for it. They also offer website services which I unfortunately used and it was a nightmare. Process was supposed to take 4 months, but it ended up taking 12. The website was so poorly done. Our blog page didn't even work after going live. Once they fixed that, we literally had a blog post on our website that was for some other company. They didn't catch those glaring mistakes and others during pre-launch or post-launch QC somehow.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention and we appreciate the feedback on your experience. We aim to complete our website builds within four months, though we often find that clients need more time as other business priorities pop up and deliverables get delayed. Unfortunately that appears to be what happened in your particular case. If you believe you are still missing promised deliverables or feel there is an action we can take to improve upon what was created, please reach out to us at this address:

I am Abby with All American Freight brokers. I am working on "Thomasnet" from couple of months and was able to get suppliers and manufacturers in my contact. The best thing which I love about this platform is I can search companies by applying filters like regions and product, which eventually lead me to my desired customers. I wish, in the future, may this platform have access to more data which in turn will be helpful to its users.

Tip for consumers:
You will find a plenty of information about buyers and suppliers of specific products that you are looking for. It is a user-friendly site, there is ease to access the data while searching, evaluating and connecting.

We paid them for a "year" advertising, website redesign, and SEO. After 4 months we had a new website, but the number of actual customers contacting us through our site is down over 75%? Our company has had a website for over 10 years and our inquires have cratered since Thomasnet has taken over. Now we are told the contract is for 18 months and we are still paying.
This company front loads all of their work, which is basically only building a website that can be done for a fraction of the price other places, and then coasts for the next 12-14 months. It has been a massive expense for our company with little or nothing to show for it. Huge mistake.

Tip for consumers:
While SEO is difficult to measure, we can say after 10 years without Thomasnet, and now 1 year with Thomasnet, our website customer inquires are down 75%.

We have advertised on ThomasNet for many years and have always treated it as a sort of billboard for advertising. We have found that other marketing avenues can generate more leads for the money spent, but we have been more interested in the exposure for our business on the ThomasNet directory. A Thomas rep explained a new banner ad program that was available which sounded perfect for the exposure aspect we were trying to capture. It was a larger expense for us and we decided to move forward based on the description given and examples of where it would display on the site. As it turned out, the banner was placed on much deeper pages with poor results over the course of a few months. This was a case where the sales rep did not understand what he was selling and gave us incorrect information about this "new program."

Cathy M. – Thomasnet.com Rep

Hi Justin, thanks for providing your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you believe our program was misrepresented. While banner ads do offer branding exposure to differentiate you from your competitors on the ThomasNet.com supplier discovery platform, many other aspects of your total ThomasNet program are inherently more measurable (than branding) in relation to their direct impact on generating qualified leads and sales. Powerful and unambiguous measurement tools are included in every ThomasNet program. In most instances, once a rep sits down and reviews a program's actual performance with advertisers that share similar concerns to yours, the true ROI of their ThomasNet program becomes clear. We would like to look into your concerns -- whom should we contact to get more information about your experience with us?

I am new to finding suppliers and ThomasNet helps me narrow down people making great products right here in the USA. I love Made in the USA stuff if I am going to put my logo on it. I have also attended a couple ZOOMs seeing how to use the Thomas Site better, I recommend this because the people are down to earth and make it a better experience to use their site. I'm new and I feel lucky to have found ThomasNet, my Facebook group for entrepreneurs recommended it to me.

I was originally lost on ThomasNet.com, there are so many companies and items to search through. I like the idea and knew it could be a valuable resource if I could figure out how to use it. Cathy Ma did a free webinar explaining everything I needed to know and really set me on a track of success to get linked up with the companies that could take our company to the next level. Thank you!

The site has a large amount of information on several companies. They list the companies size, sales, products, as well as contact information. The site also has a robust search feature to filter out, or in, to find a specific company with certain criteria. Their customer service is top notch. They have customer service to field general questions about the site, but also have engineers and quality technicians to answer any technical questions about materials, standards, products, processes, and anything else. Very helpful!

I used to work for a marketing firm and partnered up with ThomasNet to provide additional lead generation sources to our clients. The agreed plan was that ThomasNet would write an eBook for our client on a specific topic, they would then push the ebook out to their large database, and our firm would receive leads of people who downloaded the ebook. Sounded like worthy endeavor but was thousands of dollars for the investment. You pay up front but if you break it down, each lead ends up costing almost $100 if memory serves me right.

We encountered the following issues:
- First off, their team is just completely unprofessional. They were sometimes behind schedule in building the ebook by months and would only finish if you reminded them about tasks. The work they did was then filled with lots of errors or very unimpressive. I was sometimes embarrassed to share the work with our clients because our firm had a higher standard when we created work for our clients in the past.
- Second - as far as the leads go, the program was a complete fraud. Our team would receive the leads and follow up on them. The leads would sometimes have absolutely nothing to do with what our clients manufactured... example being a furniture company allegedly downloaded a book on thermal heatsinks. Also, I would have a client that manufactured packaging and another that manufactured thermal heatsinks... so completely unrelated... and we would somehow receive some of the same leads saying that people downloaded ebooks for both companies. The chances of that happening are extremely unlikely but we would see this happen all the time amongst all of our clients. The final straws were when our team would get email replies or have live conversations with the leads that would politely insist that they never downloaded an ebook on that topic and they would remember doing so. A few had said they were always getting several calls like this and they could never understand why. It was pretty obvious that ThomasNet was just picking people at random to fill the lead quota they promised us when we started the program. Our management did a very poor job on following up on this but when we finally confronted ThomasNet about this they pretended like they didn't know what the problem was and would lie that there was an error. We were told a few times they were looking into it but again they would never get back to us. It is extremely shady for a business of this size to do this to smaller companies. They think that they can't be touched because they are the big fish in the pond.
- Another area of scamming they would do... you could set your leads to filter to only the types of leads that would be a fit. For example, maybe you were targeting only companies of a certain size or region. If you didn't pay attention, they would often try to pass leads in that did not fit your agreed upon filters.
- Overall we participated in this program with several clients over the course of about 12 months. The results were terrible and it is beyond obvious they are scamming any customers that go into this program. They were always finding different ways to try and explain how the leads worked as opposed to the truth. Then when it came to the other work they did, such as the ebooks or even website we had them work on, they were always behind schedule and provided extremely poor work when finally finished. Run away as fast as you can. Do not give this company any of your money or time.

In today's fast moving manufacturing settings, it's not always possible to get the best price due to time constraints when needing supplies and specialty products. That is until I found ThomasNet! Thanks to them I can research pricing and companies all in one spot without the hassle of a deep search of the internet to make sure we are purchasing the right product from the right suppliers. I often recommend ThomasNet when asked where to search for supplies efficiently.

Their model works pre-internet now it's historic... This thing is as useful as blockbuster when netflix hulu are around. I do not recommend, money can be spent more appropriately using google ad words or web optimization. Check google trends and see how much this has fallen off. My parents used this back in the day. Get hip and avoid, way better alternatives for fractions of the price. Some sales rep is going to try and dismiss my claim, but these are just straight facts.

Find other alternatives. They will paint the perfect picture and tell you all you want to hear, don't fall for it. I was sold into a year contract and paid extra to show higher on searches. $3,000+ dollars later- not one customer and not even a CALL from a potential customer. Nevermind the fact that our company was struggling during the pandemic and owed 2 months of advertising expenses during this time, I tried speaking with their reps to agree on some sort of terms especially during the craziness and all I was told is they can not do anything for me and that my account would be sent to collections if I did not make a payment. (All while small business was in deep $#*! during the pandemic- they could offer no help) save your money, dont be sold by these con artist

Once you sign up, you are locked in for the duration. There is no backing out of you contract. No buyer's remorse. You can fight them any way you like, but they will not let you out of their contract. And once you are in, they don't give you a lot either. Most of the tools are equivalent to Google Analytics, so nothing great. I don't believe I received a single sales lead them them. Once they started "hating me" for trying to get out, they also stopped the monthly phone calls and emails. They basically ignored me for nine months because they knew they had me. I added a partial screenshot of my account just so you know I'm real.

We've gotten over a thousand leads this year from Thomasnet, many of which were associated to closed deals. I was also happy to receive access to helpful and educational webinars throughout the year as well as great customer support. I see a lot of low ratings on here so just know this isn't a solution you jut pay for to resolve your problems, its a resource that you can work with to solve your problems.

ThomasNet helps us to to get digital leads using their many tools such as Web Trax and company overview video. While customers and potential customers search for solutions to their industrial corrosive and high purity concerns they find us and generates a marketing generated lead. The new generation of engineers are looking for answers on the web. Although we have a website of our own the ThomasNet forum has an extended reach to match these searches to our targeted audience. As a retired Army Colonel we would call this Force Multiplier which strengthens our ability to win battles with overwhelming firepower. The partnership with ThomasNet, our internal marketing and sales team increases our ability to win more. I will take any advantage I can get to differentiate our business from our competitors. ThomasNet does that. ThomasNet team offers webinars and conferences to help teach the latest in digital marketing and lead generation. Their sales Rep really looks out for their accounts best interest and ensures you receive and understand the latest offers. They also helped us spot light new products such as our XXP280 in photo. Their news letter helps to inform us of many industrial topics which may generate new leads and opportunities.

Tip for consumers:
Sign up for the webinars or attend conferences in person if you can. ThomasNet has much knowledge in digital marketing and lead generation.

I work for Partners in World Health (PWH) we facilitate the collection and distribution of high-quality medical supplies and equipment for the benefit of individuals and communities in need, both locally and internationally. (www.partnersforworldhealth.org) We were in a bind looking to try and source local suppliers for one of our overseas partners desperate for equipment. A quick search on ThomasNet revealed not only more local suppliers than we knew off but a national network of potential partners. After a quick correspondence with our contacts at ThomasNet we not only sourced much needed contacts but were enrolled in their donation program that has helped us enormously. This sight has been around for a long time offing engineering service, promoting your engineering service or product. It was a great tool for me as an Engineer about 5 years ago. I find that they had let the internet money making scams take that tool over. I refuse to use a place that I must dig forever to find the info I am looking for. I think they need to get back to what was working for them... That is my opinion... Frontrunner
