“The best resistance workout ever!”

This machine will blow you away. It removes all of the hassle and space requirements of free weights. It tracks and adjusts your resistance on each exercise, making your workout super efficient. The classes are excellent, and the ability to design your own programs allows you to precisely dial in your perfect workout regimen. Automatic spotting, smart flex, eccentric, and chain are all very useful features, and can only be done properly using Tonal. Way more sophisticated, precise, and much safer than doing negatives with a partner. I use Tonal 3-4 times every week. This is the future of resistance exercise.

Tonal has been charging me twice per month for 4 months. Their service centers are awful, incompetent, and incredibly inefficient. They dont archive notes, so you have to start over each time you call. I have sent them screen shots of my credit cards showing the duplicate charges and they sill cant get it figured out. Fantastic product, awful customer service.

Should have realized that a company that takes down their local google listing (so they can't be easily reviewed by actual customers) is a scam. Dang it. I usually look for real google reviews before making a purchase decision of this size. Low and behold, they had no google listing at all! So, without that customer feedback I was ill informed on how terrible Tonal is. They are the absolute worst.

Spent $4k on a Tonal in June of 2022. That unit broke 5 times in 12 months. After the 5th service request Tonal brought me a brand new machine. It broke in 7 months. Now they say that they will not warranty the new unit and I have to pay $400 for a service call that they will try to get to in 30 days. Total cost $4,000 + $60 per month subscriptions = $5k for a machine that currently sits on my wall and doesn't work. Until they figure out how to manufacture a machine that lasts more then 3-7 months STAY AWAY!

Piece of junk, I hardly used it and now motherboard is out of warranty and since it can not be fixed, I was asked to purchase new one.decided not to buy new one and throwing the existing one in trash and getting wall repaired. Worst investment I have ever made.

I was so happy to recieve my Tonal and found it to be the best work out system I have found. This was true until it broke. Their customer service is oursourced and the scripts are patronizing. Tonal replaced my machine after three month of constant pressure only to get a refurbished machine that broke after three workouts. Now they want me to pay $795 to get it replaced because I am now out of my one-year warranty. Interestingly enough, they now have a two-year warranty with many hidden reasons not to replace the unit. I have never written a negative review, but I felt compelled to let potential buyers know there must be a better system. If your machine breaks, good luck! Tonal has your money and has been getting your $59 a month so they don't care if you are unsatisfied. Please do yourself a favor and read the reviews before purchasing. Great concept but fails on customer service when your machine goes down.

You pay a fortune up front and I thought it was worth it till I found out you have to pay a monthly fee to keep the thing going. Without the fee you can't do even a custom workout and the screen glares at you to renew now!

Expensive hardware that's great….until you have to pay a big monthly bill :( ! Then Tonal increases that monthly bill and if you don't pay you lose all the features. It's 'all of nothing' - pay the high monthly fee, regardless of whether you use some/any/all of Tonal's features or services. I sadly do not recommend because of the high monthly fee.

Do your research! No avoiding the high, which increases at their sole discretion, monthly fee!

I have had Xrays and and MRI of my right hand. The weight didn't come off when I clicked the button to release the weight. TONAL is a HAZARD to your health.

Bottom line...great machine, I really like it when it works. Everyone you talk to at customer service is polite and responsive. The installation guys have been great. The problem is product quality and delivery timelines.

First machine I got was defective. Screen randomly froze, but I was able to get a few workouts in and found I really liked it. Replacement took about 4 weeks to arrive. Second machine is inoperative. Again, the customer service people are very polite but they are telling me another 4 weeks to get a replacement and that my priority for a replacement is different than for a new buy. A friend of mine has had no issues with his machine and loves it. If and when I get one that works, I am sure I will be happy as well.

The machine broke in 2 months. The worst customer service I have ever encountered. It's been weeks of calling everyday and getting no where. Still can't use the tonal. Concept is good but machine is poorly made and very delicate. Plan on no service when it brakes and it will!

First let me say the machine is fantastic. Very versatile and you get a full home gym. Is it worth the money. Idk. I'm mixed.
What I don't like is the accessory are minimal. You get a basic and not everything you need. The bench is a flat bench. If they would have given a adjustable bench would have been a whole lot better to do incline decline and seated workouts. But they don't so you are limited there. Next they don't add any ankle straps to do leg workout so u have to buy that. No curlbar so you have to buy that as well and it's all aftermarket stuff. The subscription is worthless and your stuck for a year. This unit would have gotten a full 5 stars if they would have gave better and more options for accessories and would have came with a top of the line bench. For what you have to pay I don't see why that wouldn't have been doable. Again I love the machine but pissed I had to go purchase aftermarket accessories to make this a perfect home gym.

This company has very $#*!ty service calls go on unanswered my units been sitting in Salt Lake City for a month they schedule you and then they cancel you they are to
Busy to do their job. I gave them to the end of the week to bring it here and install it if not I will attempt to get my money back. I am in the process of looking for another workout system. I can't understand the people in customer service and they can't understand me. How do you run a business like this. These guys need some serious competition.

Beware they are eager to take your money quickly,, but no delivery or Installation quickly..They will not call you back, so be prepared to discover where unit is and when they will install it..

We received our Tonal and the install was smooth, but they sent us a used accessories kit. The bench has sweat stains and the bars/handles have wear from usage. Super gross. They said they'll send us a replacement set, but have yet to receive it, so at this point we have a disgusting set of accessories and a wall mirror. Not impressed so far. Will update this review if it ever gets resolved.

Purchased The top of line with all additional options, paid monthly fee of $50 for well over a year. We had a baby and purchased a house excited to move in we contacted Tonal for relocation requirements. Tonal voids warranty if you don't use them to do the moving of equipment. No problem, we PAID $538.75 on 4-14-2023 to have them move our equipment, after zero emails or follow up we called 5 different times to inquire on status as we have to be out of condo by end of month. After hours on the phone with staff who struggle with speaking clear English i was told no supervisor is available to assist and i must sent proof of payment as they don't show the $538.75 that was taken from my account on the 14th. Literally the absolute worst customer service EVER! I like the product but honestly will most likely sell it as I never want to deal with this again. Sad thing is i referred 4 others to purchase a Tonal

I never write reviews but if I save one person from wasting their time or money. Please look elsewhere for a home gym. They device broke in the first 3 weeks and has been a useless device in my office for last 3 MONTHS. Tonal and XPO are completely incompetent still have not replaced it or refunded my money. XPO has cancelled 3 separate times which I took off from work to be home for the install/replacement.

They take your $$ but make you wait 2.5 months for it to reach the local delivery and installation company (XPO Logistics). Now that they have it they won't schedule a delivery date because they don't have the resources. XPO customer service sucks. Tonal customer service sucks and not doing anything to help. I'm on the verge of canceling my order.

If you have a LONG time to wait (3+ months) this might be ok.

Not to impressed by Tonal Customer Service or Tonal in general right now. I recently bought a Tonal last week and hadn't even been shipped yet and they sent me an email for 250.00 off after I paid full price. I called and asked for the discount and was told No it was not possible. Not a good start Tonal for one of your newest customers. I have read some bad reviews about Tonal and I'm hoping I get a better experience once I receive mine, that of course I had to pay full price for.

When you pay $4k for a gym equipment you expect it to work without any extra charges. Well, that's not true for Tonal. After a one-year contract with them, where I was obligated to pay the now $60/mo membership fee, I've decided to cancel the membership. And for my surprise, ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING WAS RIPPED OFF OF MY EQUIPMENT. And when I say everything, I mean everything. I've expected that the library of on-demand workouts would be turned off. But, instead here's a list of every single feature or benefit that was turned off at the time of cancellation:

-Our growing library of on-demand workouts with our expert coaches
-Your metrics: data measuring and progress tracking
-Personalized weight suggestions
-Dynamic Weight Modes like Smart Flex, Eccentric, Chains, Spotter, and Burnout
-Form Feedback
-Free Lift movement library, including the video demos
-Your Custom Workouts
-Heart rate tracking
-Tonal Radio
-Apple Music integration
-Motivational features like Achievements, Leaderboard, Personal Records
-Partner Workouts and Virtual Group Workouts

My metrics? The custom workouts that I created? Apple music integration? (which by the way is a separate membership that I pay every single month to Apple and not Tonal). That's abusive in my opinion. They are simply manipulating their clients to pay $4k upfront, plus $720 in membership fees for a whole year, and when you think that you can finally set yourself free... you find out that the machine only works with an outrageous $60/mo fee.

The equipment that I paid $4k for is now a huge black screen on my wall. That's it. I paid for a huge black screen that features some touch-screen buttons at the bottom. That's it. That's all I have access to without the membership. Even the dynamic weight feature (which some may consider a safety feature) is not available anymore. As a consumer, I feel manipulated, used, abused, ripped off. Unfortunately, I don't have the means to sue this company. But I truly hope that someone out there does.

I waited 2 months for delivery. The installer (XPO who came at 8:30 pm on a friday - 3 hrs late) said my studs were 21" apart so I needed the wider bracket. I contacted Tonal and let them know the situation and XPO said they would come back out with the wider bracket. They came out 2 weeks later and the installer had no idea what I was talking about and did not have the wider bracket. At this point I have no faith on this company's ability to properly install.

Both arms broke down 4 times in past year. It's an uphill struggle to get someone from Tonal to fix the problem. It took me 3-4 weeks, numerous phone calls to their customers service, just to get a schedule for the fix.

Initial order took 3-4 weeks, and overall liked the product. Then an arm broke and it's been hell since. Call and try to explain to someone that doesn't speak english, cannot find my account, follow up email, with video of the issue, 3-4 weeks for a repair team to come. That fix did not work, go through all steps above once more, and I'm now on the wait for yet another replacement tonal, 3-4 weeks replacement arrives, installer brings it, installs it and says sorry it's broken. Now no one will answer their support line, I'm sure my 3rd device won't be here within the next 3 months. Issues began in May, and still not resolved mid July.

Don't waste your time and money, I have been waiting 4 months and then they set a day for delivery but I never got this machine, they rescheduled 4 times in 1 month after waiting 4 months, so I decided to cancel my order. Tonal is the worst company I have bought from them. If I could I would give them a negative star!

I bought a Tonal second hand but almost brand new. Before I bought it I talked to Tonal and they informed me that the warranty would not transfer but they would support the product. After 2 months of total use, in the middle of a workout, the screen goes white. The program is still running in the background but nothing can be seen. After powering the device off and trying to reset it multiple times, I called Tonal. Eventually, customer support emailed me back. They said that since I was the second owner they would not do anything to help. Two representatives offered to remotely access the Tonal and try a reset, but they were overridden by customer support. They told me that this is a known software issue but won't give me any details or try to fix it. I offered to pay for a technician to fix the product or to exchange the original Tonal for a new one at a discounted price, and they refused. The only thing that they would be willing to do was sell me a new Tonal at the upcoming sale price, $50 less than the current price.
The idea and programs are great when it works. I really enjoyed using it. Unfortunately, the quality and reliability is poor and it rarely works for long. Even though Tonal told me they would support the device, they don't. Bottom line is that once the warranty has expired and it malfunctions, which frequently happens judging from reviews and their customer service, all you have is a $4000 wall hanging.

Got my Tonal installed and at first it was great. Started to get some good workouts in, got into a routine, was starting to see some results.

Then one day, in the middle of a set, the left arm started to click like I had pressed the button to rotate it. With the weight still engaged and in the middle of a rep, the arm actually unlocked and started to swing around putting my arm/shoulder in a bad spot for a second.

I immediately called customer support and thought I was scheduling a tech to come out. 3 weeks later there has been no updates, no phone calls, no emails, nothing. Despite me repeatedly asking for literally any update at all.

This is not a premium product, it is not premium service, and I would absolutely not recommend this product to anyone until they get drastically better product support. I'm going to have to start completely over in my workout program if/when they finally get back out here to fix it. But they are more than happy to continue charging you for the monthly subscription I can't even use!

Please take the time to look at as many reviews on as many sites as you can and listen to what people are saying on them.
