“I have bought over 60 products from ubid”

Karen T.

I have bought over 60 products from ubid. Nearly all were awesome. I had a couple of items that were not as described. However following the directions exactly I had no problem in recieving a refund. In fact I am bidding on it right now. They have great customer service and it states that not all items are form ubid these are the ones that gave me problems. They stand behind thier products.

They have already earned lots of dollars by selling dreams to innocent people, this site is a scam site. Don't waste your money. If you wanna bid, just go to amazon or eBay, I give a star for them for they advertise their site and stand up everyday to fool the people around the world.

This site is a scam, selling extremely low quality products with insane shipping charges! $37.00 is what I paid to ship a pair of earrings! Seriously?. I mean, they do not even have a working phone #! For a reason! Because they choose to ignore customers instead of trying to help them resolve issues. My account has been closed, never again. Don't believe me? Just read all of the other reviews...

Scam. Bought two items. Listed digital camera s NEW came refurbished. Fighting to get my money back with the CC company. Bought steam mop. Came in non working condition. Avoid. They hope you wont do anything so they can keep the money. Scammers phone # *******243

Tip for consumers:
do not buy anything. they sell garbage store returns and expect people not to fight back to get their money. well, this time issue will be escalated.

I have used Ubid.com for several purchases. Overall I have been happy with the deals I have gotten. You have to pay attention to shipping charges, because they tend to be a little high, but not all the time. Also, they charge a 3% transaction fee, that is not very apparent. The minimum is $1.99 and maximum is $9.99. I have made some returns, and eventually got a refund on everything I returned. However, on one return in which I returned 2 items, they only refunded me for one item. This was eventually corrected with some phone calls, and a response from the vendor, whoever that was. My most recent purchase was for some Thomas Kinkaide miniature prints. The box was supposed to have 4 prints, but they took one of the prints out of the case and shipped me only one. That happened twice, Very frustrating, but with the deals I have gotten on there, I will put up with them.

This looks good to the naked eye... like an ebay where you just bid a dollar amount on the products like a live auction. But their products are crap, if you even receive the product you win. Don't waste your money.

I was told that I won the bid on the items and they even charged my credit card. When I pressed them because after more then two weeks the items have not shipped they told me they over sold the item and would return my payment. They are not a reputable company to treat customers this way. I won't visit their site again. If I could give them minus 5 stars I would.

DO NOT i repeat DO NOT use this company. My roommate ordered a t. V. from them which proved to be defective. After filing a claim with the company within 10 days, she received no compensation. After 2 months of this she emailed again, and was told the shipping company made correspondence with her and was told she wanted to keep the item. (not true) When she found out about this contacted the company and was told that she had not filed a claim within 30 days. I am now pursuing legal action with the company, even after they refused to release their lawyer's information.

I wish I could give them -0 stars! They sold me a Television that doesn't work... they would not help me and when I called the manufacturer, they said they do NOT work with UBid. Between this and other misleading things I bought (all in a row like an idiot) DON'T shop with them.

Tip for consumers:
Do not!

I haven't been this year 2010 but for many years, it's the only place to bid on a decent watch for men, got a trash can stainless steel, that opens by placing or waving hand over it, good deals, never complained, also some USGL Rings, and well worth it.

5 weeks ago, I bought a laptop from ubid.com. It came promptly, but without an AC adapter. I contacted ubid repeatedly. Their live chat has never worked, their phone number is never open, always busy. The only way to contact them is email. No response. I finally flooded their inbox with emails and got a computer generated response that I had been assigned a case number. Another week passed, no response. I contacted them again and was told that I'd know something in 2 business days. No reply from them these last 3 weeks. I'll get an AC adapter from someone who wants my business and I'll NEVER deal with UBID.com again. They're a bunch of crooks. Avoid them at all costs.

I recently purchased a "refurbished" laptop. First they shipped to the wrong address, the product has no paperwork... no manual, no warranty no identification documents. It seems to work well but... customer service has not returned any of my emails.

Seems they are scraping the bottom of the barrel for vendors... be careful.

UBID started as a great alternative to Ebay. When they would list multiple numbers of the same product (like 25 cameras available) you stood a great chance of getting one reasonably. And when you were the lowest of the 15 winning bidders you felt damn good about it. But listings now are generally for one item just like every other bidding site. And today when you do win there is a transaction fee - WHAT, where did this come from? On Ebay the seller pays that not the buyer. Lastly, their shipping charges are absurd - way over the top. Once I was so high on UBID they sent me a T-shirt - I bought everything from them. But now I'm disappointed in what used to be a respectable site. Its time for a divorce and I'm sticking with Newegg - great pricing, no buried fees, and generally free shipping.

The site is ok if you want a watch you've already researched. Research is the key as their customer service is NONexistent. Don't expect to return anything for any reason. And don't buy anything from red tag- I bought a wireless keyboard that didn't work right out of the box and it had food all over it! Too bad for me.

On 08-25-11 I purchased a monitor from Ubid.com, after 2 weeks I received my merchandise, after opening the package, there was no power cord included.
On 09-09-11 I contacted ubid.com per telephone and advised the rep. That I need a RMA# and a mailing ticket for FED EX to send the merchandise back.
I was e-mailed all the information and the same day I send the merchandise back to ubid.com
My package was received by ubid.com on 09-15-11 at 1:47 pm sign by E Pearson. I was told by a rep from ubid.com that my refund will be issued within 10 days.
Today is 10-04-11 and after several e-mails and phone calls to ubid, I received no answer about my refund or a date when I'm suppose to receive my refund.
I tried one more time this morning to speak to a rep. And after being on hold for 75 Min which is an average hold time for ubid.com, I was told there having technical issues and can't access my account and I would be called back within 1 hour.
Needless to say, I never received a call back, nor have I heard anything about my refund via e-mail.
At this point I strongly believe, that ubid.com is not issuing a refund, even though my return was exactly as described in ubids.com returns policy and procedures.
Looks like I never get my money back. Lesson learned

Please be aware when bidding on this site. The price you bid is the price you pay. I was informed that they no longer have the bid butler feature on their auctions. Please do not overbid thinking they are going to increase your bid as you are outbid. If you were to bid $200 on an item and the highest losing bid was $75 and the bidding increment is $25, you will not win the auction at $100 but will have to pay the $200.

Ubid.com used to be a great site, but I'm talking YEARS ago. I think they went downhill simply because they could never get a following. It used to be that you had a good chance at getting a deal if you kept up with the auctions but then things started happening that made no sense, like I was bidding against a bot. After several experiences where at the last second I was outbid, I stopped bothering with them.

One very important thing to do is to research current prices for the products! It's easy to get caught up in a "bidding war." In addition to your bid price, there's a transaction fee and shipping charge added to the toal. The transaction fee quoted on the bid confirmation was $6 less than what I was actually charged. Shipping fees are all over the place and from what I can tell, are there to make more money for ubid.com.

I had the winning bids on two refurbished HP laptops. According to the descriptions, they each had 90-days of warranty coverage through HP. The first one I setup kept shutting off by itself, so I sent it back. Luckily, they issued a credit on my charge card after bugging them about it. The second one did fine for about 2 weeks before the hard drive failed. When I contacted HP for a warranty replacement, I found out that HP does not provide warranty service for anything purchased through auction sites, regardless of what is printed on the box. My options were to replace the hard drive at my expense, ask ubid.com to provide service, or purchase an extended warranty from HP. As it turned out, the extended warranty through HP was the most economical and fastest option.

Another complaint concerns their packaging for shipping. One of the laptops had some bubble wrap inside the outer box. The other one had no padding inside the outer box and was free to slide around inside.

It took slightly over 2 weeks from the close of the auction until I received the items.

The only positive thing I can say about this auction site is that you're not charged to place bids.

Ubid is a nice site with some decent deals online but as an auction compared to ebay is really doesn't offer much more. You also really need to know the value what you are buying as an auction on ubid. Ubid had this Sony VAIO VAIO VGN-SZ120P 13" T2400 1.83GHz 2GB 160GB PCG-6J2L and the bid was up to $799 and I found that same laptop on other internet sites like tigerdirect for less money. Sure it is a good deal compared to best buy but not to other internet stores. I would buy cautiously from ubid though they do have some good auction deals.
