I have rented from U Haul many times. Their ecquipment whether a utility trailer, cargo trailer or truck has always been a great experience. From initial check in to final drop off customer experience always A-+++! They are always helpful with accessories or safety check and I appreciate that they always do hookup and release. I have traveled many times from state to state across America and locally. They are TOP NOTCH in my book! Keep up the good work people

Rented a truck a few weeks ago with excellent service from the clerk on Pulaski Hwy in Baltimore, MD. She took my license, made a copy and got me on my way in a few minutes. Today I tried to rent another truck, with the misfortune of getting a different clerk who insisted I had to take my own photo of the drivers license with my phone, and refused to help me when I explained I had no phone with me. She was rude and dismissive. White, thin, 50-60 yrs old. Will find another rental company from now on.

So I was following a lady who rented a trailer from uhaul. It came off the hitch. I stopped and reinstalled the trailer correctly. The regional manager came by and was like oh don't worry about it we will give you this one for free. I was so missed at him. The lady didn't want to take the trailer because she had to go to west Virginia with it. Please explain why uhaul let's this happen. I asked her if they hooked it up she said yep. Come on guys do better

Tip for consumers:
Safety is most important. What if she was going down a mountain in west Virginia

-5 stars! All review sites SHOULD HAVE a NEGATIVE STAR OPTION! This rep was ignoring me the entire time. I'd continue to wait and then ask if they were still connected. At which point she would tell me to hold while she pulled up the account number provided. I would continue to hold, at which point she sent the standard "I have not received a response in over 3 minutes, I am disconnecting the chat option." Which she never said anything after I informed her I was okay with her locating the account." After which she was completely ignoring me. Making it so obvious she just could not be bothered with assisting me since it was almost time for her to be done for the day!

I had a very bad experience with uhaul and the way their people treat us customers like we're the ones taking food out their mouth. Last year I rented a big truck and they charge my card in advance over $178 the person clearly told me that that was not the final pricing and that when the final pricing was determined which it was close to $400 the $178 was going to go back into my account. I tried to talk to this people and all they could say was that I got the wrong info and that was it…,So no more U-Haul for not today not ever!

Tip for consumers:
Wasted my time with their management!!!

Rented a cargo van, worker said just put key in drop box when I returned after hours.next day was charged 20 more dollars for not digitally signing van in. Called manager and she said some places do this and some dont...wow! Make that make sense. All they said was it was in the contract, like someone's gonna read the whole dam thing, why not just tell people this when they rent the van or truck? Uhaul, yall wrong for this, especially to loyal customers. Word of mouth can be your worst enemy!

Dangerous car trailers not fit for purpose!Dangerous Trailers Don't Hire! Picked up car trailer and brakes hardly work and this is apparently normal according to them. I was going to take back but picked up right on closing time. After driving about 20 minutes then brakes locked on and wouldn't release and I got stranded for hours! No refund either! Even the guys working there said they are dangerous and wouldn't hire themselves even though they get for free. It's only a matter of time before someone gets hurt or killed from these trailers. They shouldn't be allowed on the road

Do NOT USE uhaul to transport or belongings from one state to the next. They're delivery service is absolutely horrible. Made me wait for two weeks before I got my personal belongings. Refused to give me the transporter information. Held my personal belongings hostage and used the holidays as a excuse.

The people at the Manchester, CT UHaul store on Oakland Ave. Were great, as was the person at the location in Winsted, CT. BUT, what was not made clear at the time of reservation was that although my rentals were guaranteed (a 10' truck and an auto trailer,) the locations of pickup were NOT. The Manchester store was nearby my home and easy to get to. The Winsted location was 40 miles away and I didn't know until the night before that I'd have to go there to get the trailer! It was a big use of time and gas that I didn't anticipate. They increased the mileage allowance on the truck by 60 miles "due to your inconvenience," but I had to call to have them increase that to 80 miles (after a long time on hold) which was the actual additional mileage. Truck itself was fine-clean and ran well-but the tie-downs on the trailer came loose partway through the drive and had to be tightened before continuing. Easy return at Pocono Lake, PA location. Hope I never have to rent from them again. Lost almost 2 hours and extra money for gas because I wasn't told that I'd have to drive to Winsted to get the trailer (can you say boondoocks?) until it was too late to make other plans. "Sorry, we don't have runners to bring equipment to your preferred location" is a very poor excuse given by the scheduler. Renters should be told up front about possibility of having to go somewhere very out of the way to get their rentals.

I just called & talked to Cody at U- Haul on N Lombard, Portland. I extended my rental & paid for 1 more week on their cargo van, ( my truck was stolen & then recovered & this is my transportation until it is fixed.)
Cody seemed to have an attitude. I was polite but he seemed like it was a problem to help me & when I asked him if he was OK, he said he didn t like to extend rental times on his vehicles, 'that s when accidents happen'. -he liked them back on time.
I wonder what they are in business for if not to rent vehicles? Strange.
Then he said 'O k, I've got it extended for you- have a good day- Good Bye. He hung up abruptly.
No reason for his attitude, & a little rude.

Horrible experience!
I had reserved a 10' truck in Victoria. You called me the day before my move to tell me you couldn't fulfill my reservation, and if I wanted a truck I had to drive an hour away and an hour back to get a 15' truck on the morning of my moving date in Duncan.
I get the truck and get it back to my move location to notice it has no gas in it and the truck is absolutely filled with water and sopping wet moving blankets. Water is dripping from the ceiling, pooled on the floor, dripping from the walls.
I have already taken 2 hours out of my moving day just to get the truck! I sit on hold with you and get passed from representative to representative, until there is no more time, I have a ferry to catch.
We sop up as much water as possible and line the floors with garbage bags to try to protect my things, when finally someone from roadside assistance gets ahold of me and tells me that isn't her job. She goes out of her way to look, and it turns out there is a 15' truck less than a mile away from me this entire time. So why did I drive 2 hours out of my way on my moving day to get this wet truck with no gas in it?
She tells me I just have to unload my entire move, take the bad truck to this location, get the new truck and redo all the loading into the new truck. I have a ferry to catch! We were already rushing because I accounted for taking 2 hours out of the moving day just to get the first truck.

I tell her this isn't possible and I want a refund. She opens a ticket for me and tells me someone will reach out in 3 business days and I can return the truck with as much gas as I had received in it. This was on February 21st.
I pay $120 extra at the ferry for the larger truck that I didn't want.
I return the truck and it has as much gas in it as it had when I picked it up, per your instruction. I receive an additional charge today for $278.50 for the missing gas!
I was expecting a full refund of the $856.31 I had spent originally.

Now it's February 26th. Technically 3 business days later. And you have just told me you had to reopen my ticket and someone will be reaching out in 3 more business days!

I want my money back and you should be lucky that's all I'm asking for.
This is the worst customer service experience I have ever had.

Rented a car trailer for 10 days with insurance. Truck broke down 3 days into the trip. Asked Uhaul to credit me for 7 days not used after I dropped off the trailer. They refused and stole $700 from my card. Cooperate representative name is Ashley out of Eugene, Oregon. Five four 1-seven four 4- four four 8 zero is the contact number. Total obnoxious, arrogant woman.

Tip for consumers:
Avoid Uhaul. The CEO needs to put up his/her golf clubs and take care of his/her company. Total dysfunction after 2 hours on the phone and no solutions; just spite from cooperate for the little guy.

The urgency of an unforeseen situation prompted me to swiftly relocate out of state, yet the associated fee exceeded my financial means. Advised to arrange a local pick-up and address the matter with customer service upon my return, I reached out to the corporate office seeking assistance with the fees. Initially assured of a callback from a higher authority within three business days, I patiently awaited resolution. However, after four days had elapsed, I proactively followed up, only to be directed to Lucy, purportedly the highest-ranking individual for the region.

Lucy's demeanor during our interaction was notably stern, indicating she had already familiarized herself with my situation. Regrettably, her response was devoid of empathy or assistance, accompanied by what seemed like laughter from others in the background, further exacerbating my distress. Despite my earnest explanation of the extenuating circumstances, including the involvement of sexual violence that precipitated my decisions, Lucy remained dismissive and unyielding.

In a tone that conveyed both arrogance and indifference, Lucy reiterated her unwillingness to offer any assistance, adamantly asserting her stance as if to underscore her authority. Her insistence on emphasizing personal opinions, coupled with a marked lack of empathy, only served to compound the already distressing nature of the situation. Such conduct, particularly from a company of significant stature, reflects a profound lack of professionalism and compassion.

I called advising I need a truck for 30 minutes to move a king size mattress only and would take less than 30 minutes smallest truck and only willing to pay $20 because truck would be used less than 10 miles driving. Told had one and to secure with card. I asked and you're sure you have one in Norfolk and she responded let me double check. Then she said oh no we only have a $39 one. I said I don't need that. She responded we have a $20 one in wayne 35 miles away. She failed to mention what I already knew which was that I would have to pay per mile and pay for the gas for that truck to be brought to Norfolk which would be the same or more than the $39 one available in Norfolk. How silly you all are to leave those vehicles sit not making any money when you can let someone use them for half the price when they are going to be used a fraction of the time of the 24 hour, $39 rate. No business or mathematical sense what so ever!

God forbide your one day late on payment and you get locked out of your own unit. Ludicrous... ty uhaul for making me see that your policy on late payments is enough to spoil my milk to not ever wanting to rent from your company again. Sadly I've been a customer for over 25 years.

If you absolutely need a car or moving truck rental on a specific date, do not count on your reservation to be honoured by U-haul. The reservation is for their benefit only and you have absolutely no recourse if/when that vehicle is not available on the day that you plan to pick it up.

Rent your truck from anywhere but uhaul.
Dishonest company. Sent us an hour away to get the truck but was last minute on long distance move so we were screwed and had no choice. Promised a bunch of discounts to coerce us onto continuing with uhaul but we never got the discounts. Put 200 bucks in truck and gas gauge never moved. The do of location was awesome but the big company of uhaul is absolute crap. I booked way in advance for the moving truck and yet mysteriously they were just waiting to see if maybe one might just pop-up in my location prior to the need they male no effort to move trucks where they are actually needed. What a scam. Move everything in a wheelbarrow rather than deal with uhaul. Chasing promised discounts we shall see if I ever get them. But why should I be still chasing the bill of my moving truck weeks after my move? Just bull

Tip for consumers:
Dropp off location was awesome and tried hard to help but their hands were tied. Then when you try and do a review it only let's you review the pickup and drop off locations. Not the actual company. The drop off place had zero to do with me being ticked off. The pickup place should've put in discounts but they probably get screwed on their payment if they do and so he was maybe sneaky when he didn't add discounts but it probably messes up his fee and he was NOT responsible. Uhaul is dishonest

I rented a moving truck with a guarantee from the U-Haul moving center on Mannheim Pike in Lancaster, PA October 3,2020. When I arrived there was not truck available and no apology. Also they offered no alternative. I was left with a house full of packed goods and no way to move them. They also refused to pay the $50.00 guarantee promised if the equipment was not available. Unreliable, dishonest and a good company to stay away from.

I was lied to at the Rio Rancho, NM U-Haul. I am relocating and asked if my vehicle could tow a small trailer. They told me yes (2021 Toyota Corolla). I also specifically asked them how many pounds of personal items can I put in the Trailer - JUST personal items. I was told 900 pounds. I asked the same question numerous times to be sure I could put 900 pounds in the trailer. Well they flat out lied to me. After I paid $526.20 to put a hitch on my vehicle I found out I can only put 400 pounds in the trailer. This isn't enough and now days before I'm supposed to leave and out over $500 I have to find alternative methods to move. I would NOT use this facility every again. They are liars and just want your money

U-Haul will not guarantee that their trailers and trucks will not leak water. I pulled their small trailer in the rain. The trailer allowed rain water into the trailer and damaged belongings that were at the bottoms of the boxes…that part that sat in rain water. U-Haul and their insurer would not cover any of the damages to our belongings. RENTERS BEWARE THAT YOU ARE TAKING RISK TO RENT FROM U-HAUL.

This company is terrible. Their business dealings are shady at best and fraudulent at worst. I rented a 10ft truck for 24 hrs. They told me the truck had less than a quarter tank of gas, and that I could return it with the same amount in it. That truck had ZERO gas in it when I pulled out of their lot and they wanted it returned with gas? Also, they charged me $222 in addition to the cost of $117 for a one-day rental. Someone from the company called me and said it was because I returned the truck 3 days later. When I confirmed I returned the truck to the same pick up location 24 hours later, they told me it was because I did 200 miles over the 30 miles that I originally paid for. It was my word against their odometer which I think is rigged or something. The town where my storage was was 12 miles away from my home, which is a verifiable fact. Let's say though that it was 15 miles away, I would have had to travel back and forth over 6 or 7 times in those 24 hrs to travel 200 miles. That's just absurd! I did 2 trips to that town, which would have put me at 50 miles. I would have accepted 50 miles over to account for any stops, different routes I may have taken, etc. If they told me I went 100 miles total. I would have accepted to pay the additional $50 or $70. But y'all can't make me believe I went 200 miles over, that's just robbery! I hope you enjoy the $337 because that's the LAST TIME I will do business with UHAUL and you best believe EVERYONE I come across will be warned!
