I know nothing about technology and this system is very easy to use. It is basically all connected to your phone so you can even change settings while away from the home. My installer, Nick, is the only one I will work with. He is definitely worth the wait. He is knowledgeable about all the equipment and knows the best way to set things up. He is very clean and never leaves a mess when installing. Customer service is not always available but when it is they are very helpful.

If I could give it no starts I would. I have 4 cameras and only 2 of them work properly. They charge me a monitor fee, but when i called about my cameras not working i was told my monitor had been suspended due to none payment but they had just took over $240 out my account without my permission or notified my about them taking the money out my account. Long story short say yourself time and money by not dealing with this company at all! Now I see why this company has been sued!

Forget trying to cancel! They make it so difficult, try to talk you into staying over and over, and finally, after verbal authorizations and passwords and confirmations and them keeping you on the phone forever, they send you an email requesting a "Notice of Cancellation" with no instructions on what that "Notice" needs to contain in order for you to actually cancel. The longer it takes us to cancel (we've been trying for 2 months now), the longer they receive our money, and that's just the way they like it! Ridiculous.

Not a great experience when we had to move and cancel our service - they make it really hard, you have to wait 30 days, they actually canceled it on the wrong day and wouldn't reactivate it - they are horrible. Also, the monitors and such run on batteries which don't have a long life, and the equipment has expiration dates so you have to replace it which they never tell you about. Do not recommend them.

My elderly aunt and uncle in their 80's paid on the equipment for 2 years then moved into a nursing home. Vivint said they had to pay off $1400+ for equipment before canceling the service. They did this. Once the service was canceled, they have continued to be charged for the past 5 months. Terrible company that took advantage of elderly on so many levels: first telling them they needed to finance to build up their credit rating (at 85 and 86 years old) to refusing to stop billing them when services have been canceled.

I really hate this company. They are so frustrating and their contracts are awful. If you have autopay and update your payment (let's say if you changed your card), and it doesn't go through, you get NO notification about it, and therefore don't have an opportunity to fix it. You only find out about it after the next pay cycle occurs and they charge you for both months plus a late fee. You can't opt out of their surveillance service unless you buy out their equipment which is absolutely ridiculous. Their equipment is over the top expensive and triple or quadruple the price then it should be. So you're stuck paying for years and can't break away from them. It sucks.

You're better off with Ring. Save yourself and don't bother with this company.

I've had vivint for about 4 years now, and I've got to say, it has got to be the most unreliable system I could have ever imagined. The sales team is great at getting you to believe it's a perfect system but I assure you it's not. There's has been countless times the system has failed on me. The times I need my cameras the most they are offline. And no, nothing is wrong with my wifi, everything else that is on wifi give me little to no trouble at all. But there has been so many issues with my system I am just done with them!

Tip for consumers:
They sell you product that works maybe 50% of the time don't fall victim to vivint!

I've had Vivint since 2021 and their salesman was good. He stated they're US based and manufacture all their equipment in-house. He also said I could go to him for anything even after the installation. A month after the installation was done and they got my money, he'd refer me to call support. Fine. Typical salesman. Onto their equipment: I've had to replace the Smart Drive, a doorbell, and multiple Wi-Fi Bridges (the part that plugs into the wall). These items aren't cheap. For 2 cameras and 2 doorbells, it cost $3800 and that doesn't include tech visits (which they will do only after lengthy troubleshooting calls for $99). One camera goes offline everytime we go on a trip (which is the worst time to go offline since you'd like to monitor AND you must be present for troubleshooting). Other cameras and doorbells go offline multiple times during the day. Vivint has introduced their updated line of overpriced stuff and a newer camera with better features will run $600. For one camera. May want to steer clear of Vivint unless you like overpaying for cheap crap with poor customer service.

Door to door scam. Go through there tablets real fast and don't tell you that 2 cameras and a cheep touchpad screen will cost you $3500. On top of that, you cant cancel there monitoring system until that is paid off. This company ruins lives and they have the worst customer service. Stay away please.

After hours on phone troubleshooting our system, we finally demanded they send a tech out. We had to pay, and they said date out two weeks. Yesterday we waited 4 hrs as they said 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm arrival time. Nobody came and nobody called. They said he ran late at another appointment. Now it's scheduled for over two more weeks out! Very unprofessional and system has sucked.

The company kept calling me after I told them I was gona go with my old provider being I paid for equipment in full. They texted several times trying to see why I didn't want them. Today Feb 20th a salesman claiming he's with this company knocks at my door trying to get me to switch. He wouldn't take no for an answer and I found it to be very creepy. He also asked if I had a countertop or table he could use to write things out so I could better understand. Why are you trying to enter my home? They are in competition with ADT and it's crazy.

Tip for consumers:
The salesman was just creepy and made me glad I already have an alarm system because he made me feel very uncomfortable.

We removed one of two security panels on a property. Long story short, the panel that stayed on the property did not work after the second panel was removed.

I've been on the phone for literally hours. Tech representatives said that we needed a new panel. I've asked specifically for a supervisor to give me a call back to know avail.

Now I'm reading all the horrible reviews of this company. A test of any relationship is when a problem occurs. YES, I HAVE THE INSURANCE THAT REPLACES COMPONENTS THAT NO LONGER ARE OPERABLE. WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIS COMPANY?

Tip for consumers:
They encourage you to buy the insurance and when you need it, the supervisors refused to call you back.

Vivant outsources their customer support in some cases. I believe to the Philippines. I understand that English is the second language for some of the operators. The problem is they're comprehension. There is none.

I was happy with the system up until we had a problem. Why are we pairing five star prices for zero star service. There's something radically wrong with this company.

I use my apple watch for turning on and off my alarm system. Has always worked, but since the last Apple update, it stopped working. Contact their customer support and they told me yeah we aren't supporting it anymore. Um what? What terrible customer service, especially when I exclusively use it and so are lots of others. Way to screw over your customers Vivint.

Nunca cumplen con sus appointment los técnicos que vinieron a mi casa no saben nda también vino un supervisor, tuvieron que venir porque el sistema no trabaja llevo 9 meses sufriendo esto y no tienen solución ya me canse cancele mi cuenta al fin esos appointment nunca llego nadie y el mensaje al técnico nunca lo contestó no usen esa compañía es un ROBO

I had this alarm company since 2014 when we first moved. We started having issues with the equipment last year 2023. The system kept sending alerts and I called them in November. We spent a whole hour on the phone about how to reset the system and change the battery. So we decided being we started using the ring cameras we don't need vivint anymore. I called at lunch at this point they want to tell me another story how our equipment is old and it needs to be replaced. And they will give us a big discount and free equipment. They didn't say that yesterday. So I said I wanted to cancel but she kept trying to sell me packages. Finally I spoke to a manager that said I will get an email for cancellation and I have to send the email back with the password. So we did just that. Then we get an email about a month later saying the account cancellation was unsuccessful. That doesn't make sense. At this point I removed all credit card information from the account that was still open and accumulating charges. I called they again. Same story are you sure you want to cancel blah blah. All over again. Never received email about cancellation. January 25th we called again to ask why is it still open. Then they want to say because we have a balance. We canceled in November anything after that I'm not paying. Spoke to manager and she said they would take off anything after November so we only owe $90. So I give them to payment information to authorize that only. Received the email of the payment but never the cancellation. Fast forward 3/7/24 and I noticed my account balance is lower than it should be because I need to get my car fixed. I have four charges of $79.56 in my bank account. So I called them. And once again "I'm so sorry" and I was put on an eternal hold. Spoke to a manager and she said we don't see that your account is cancelled but we will cancel everything now and delete the balance for you. You will get your funds in about 5-7days. Still no cancellation email or money.

Absolutely horrible tech support/customer service. They ONLY know the script and just keep repeating it. The most unhelpful call center I've ever dealt with. The entire company feels like a big scam.

Since installing less than three weeks ago we've had multiple camera issues with going offline. No communication between the controller and the devices. Now we've lost control/access to our thermostat. It is locked out. Service is just as sad. We were told that we would have a tech on site between 4 and 8 today. No show No call. They will be removing the system.

They add fraud charges every couple of months saying you had a tech come install more cameras and upgrades which never happened. They hit us with an extra three thousand dollars + this month with a twelve day time window to dispute the fact, NO ONE CAME. Nor did we ask for upgrades or extra cameras to both of our homes! This isn't the first time I've had to babysit them! They have done this five times! Had I not caught this extravagant amount this time! I would not be eating this month! Nor would any of my bills be paid! Run! Do not walk from this scam of a company. Its constant I am disputing bills that are added for fraud charges. When NO one comes, and you don't ask and it gets constantly added to your account on purpose, THATS a fraud charge.

Do not use those companies the doesn't have costumer service, after bugging them to come fix my cameras they told me for them to come it's $100 I agree it's over 3 months cameras not working and I'm making payments. This is a b*sht Vivint services

We purchased this system, we were over sold and the monthly was higher than agreed. Then we sold our house and they won't let you cancel as of the closing date! You have to go through a ton of hoops and if you don't follow directions exactly, they won't cancel. When you finally get to the point if cancelling they then tell you it will take up to 30 days! It's beyond insane. They must be really bad because they are super desperate for money to pay the lawsuit!

Awful! Their equipment is awesome but their customer service is void of intelligent representatives. They will tell you one thing and once you have all your equipment you are screwed. If you wish to waste your time being transferred to various departments when you have an issue just to finally be sent to legal for them to still not comprehend a damn thing then best of luck.

I had a door to door salesmen tell me that VIVINT wanted use my house as a marketing strategy due to it being a highly trafficked area. He said that they will cover the cost of all the products as well as the installation as long as I agreed to put their sign up in my yard & recommend their product. I decided on 3 outdoor cameras, 2 door sensors, 5 light bulbs & switches, carbon monoxide detector, motion sensor & glass break sensor. He tells me I'll have two charges a month. One was for about $40 & the other $60. I end up not liking the service & want to cancel due to products breaking, cameras lagging & sensors being not sensitive enough as well as many other issues. I am told that I am contracted in until 2028 & if I wanted to cancel I would have to pay the remaining balance of the equipment which is $3,000. I asked for the contract to be sent to me with the cost of product. After reading it turns out nothing was free. I paid $200 for the installation. I incurred $3,800 in product which I signed a 60 month contract on. I do not recall any mention that I was signing on for 5 years otherwise I would've never signed. However I obviously did not pay close attention to the contract at all as everything I thought was the opposite. Basically I signed up for a loan of $3,800 in equipment from them which is not even efficient, helpful or securing. Paid for an installation I was told was free & am now stuck with them for another 4 years after not enjoying the first. The lights don't work & I can't turn some off & others won't come on. They sent me a new light switch to resolve that which I will have to install on my own. If I want someone to come out to fix any broken product I have to pay them $100. I don't even bother arming my house on away because the sensors are so sensitive it send the distress call if something is dropped on the floor. However animals & people can creep through my yard without the cameras even detecting them despite the sensitivity being set high. The cameras installed do not even have coverage on my side yards which makes the whole thing feel pointless as I do not have a fenced in yard & with the woodsy area behind my house people constantly walk through my yard to get to the street. Everything this company sells you on is a lie. If they have anyone try to sell you on it please decline unless you want to sign your death sentence. Well if it isn't obvious enough their sign is no longer in my yard & I would NOT recommend their product!

The phone support can't/won't/doesnt know how to help and they want to charge you $99 to send a tech out. I am going to the media as this system hasn't worked properly for the time I've had it. DO NOT BUY THIS SYSTEM

Where do I start? First off I WAY overpaid for a system that provided inconsistant coverage and playback ability of alarm videos. That was my fault for not doing more comparative shopping. I was getting better coverage with my simple ring cameras. The big kicker is when I sold my house and tried several times to transfer my account to the new home owners Vivint instead created a new account for them and I still had to pay of the $1400 balance of the three year contract. So Vivint was able to double dip on the same system! Their customer service farms you out to foreign call centers to very poor English speakers and they pass you around from one department to another until you get dropped or tired of waiting on them. I wasted $3k in equipment and $3k in service contract so trust me when I say go any other way but don't go vivint!
