Wine Express offers some excellent wines at a reasonable price, but you must also do your own research as well. I am in California... usually, you can find better deals on California wines locally. French wines seem to be their strong suit. Joe Dubnick and James Suckling are overly generous with the scoring. But there have been some real values...
Bought 2 bottles of 2017 Sassicaia. Received today and I am completely disappointed with the quality of the wine. Both bottles show signs that they have been exposed to extreme heat - one bottle has protruding cork and the second bottle's cork has simply exploded. Pictures attached. Extremely disappointed to see this poor treatment to such a great bottle Is Sassicaia and for them to knowing send this to their customers.

I ordered a bottle as a gift to be delivered in 7-10 days. The link to track my order on the website only said "Your order has shipped." After a few weeks, the intended recipient told me they never received the wine. Customer service said it was returned because of failed delivery attempts, even though I never received any notification that delivery attempts had been made. They then charged me for return shipping and restocking fees. They did offer to re-ship the wine, but then told me the bottle I ordered was no longer in stock. I asked if they could send a cheaper bottle from the same brand, they said no. I asked if they would send a new bottle when it's back in stock, they said no. It has now been too long for me to dispute the charge with my credit card company and they will do nothing more to help me. Their website is full of positive reviews, but there is nowhere on there or on Google to leave a review.
I don't expect to get any money back from this, nor do I expect my aunt to actually get the wine I tried to send as a gift, but at least I can let others know not to order anything through WineExpress.com. They will take your money and run.

Like the other reviews, don't expect to revive the order you place. After waiting two weeks, no response to an email sent to Customer Service I called, waited on hold for over a half hour and was told they were out of stock on one of the bottles ordered. I asked why they did not ship the rest of the $500 order or respond to my email or call me to ask me what I wanted to do. The Customer Service person was totally indignant and could care less. Do not order from this online merchant.
I ordered some wine from their big 'clearance' sale. While not nearly the bargains they purport, I think the prices were pretty good -- you can search for other sellers to see what an accurate price is.
Alas, they chose to ship my wine (via UPS) when their local temperature was high 80's, then the day in transit was forecast to be low 90's, both their shipping location and my location. Wine arrived late in the afternoon -- upon delivery, I used a Thermapen to check the temperature of the wine -- 81.6 degrees. Hello, ruined wine!
Mind boggling that they wouldn't look at the forecast and hold the wine for a few days. Today, 93 and sunny (a recipe for wine baking all day in the delivery truck), tomorrow 75.
I ordered a wine basket for a Christmas present to be shipped to my father. Two weeks passed nada?

Product was never delivered (one of the excuses was "sometimes, especially around the holidays, and especially when it's an expensive bottle of champagne", products "disappear" and we never hear about it. Yet, I was charged over $90 for the delivery and even after countless calls & emails & customer service dripping sweetly with empathy & concern, no credit has been issued.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!
Tip for consumers:
DO NOT USE THIS SITE!
WineExpress.com is "the exclusive wine shop partner of The Wine Enthusiast catalog and website". As a first time buyer, I placed an order for an advertised wine. The website indicated "Due to high temperatures, we are holding shipments in our temperature-controlled warehouse until it is safe to ship again". Absolutely right, especially where I live (Nevada) where it's triple digits daily this time of year. I placed the order on a Saturday and, in an abundance of caution, emailed WineExpress verifying the shipment would be held. Not receiving a response, I emailed again 2 days later on Monday morning. Monday evening I received an email indicating my order shipped. I emailed WineExpress asking why they shipped it in the heat despite their claim to hold it in a warehouse, and they replied the wine was being shipped in "temperature-controlled vehicles". The wine was delivered 5pm on a Friday when the temperature was 112 degrees. The UPS driver indicated that at no time had the shipment been in a "temperature-controlled vehicle" and he estimated his vehicle was at least 130 degrees. Temperatures across most of the US during the almost week-long shipment from NY to NV were in the 90's and in triple digits during UPS local delivery runs. Not surprisingly, when I opened the box, the bottles were very warm to almost hot. Fine wine is damaged at prolonged temperatures above 80 degrees, and the temperature of these bottles were far above that. I emailed WineExpress and, without apologizing or explaining why they indicated the wine was shipped in "temperature-controlled vehicles" when it obviously was not, WineExpress agreed to retrieve the damaged wine and issue a card credit by 8/4. The damaged wine was retrieved (I'm wondering what poor hapless buyer will end up with it) but, despite an email on 8/7 indicating I hadn't received the credit without a response, I placed a dispute on the charge on 8/11 with my credit card company.
So, in apparent violation of its own policy not to ship due to high temperatures, and while ignoring my emails, WineExpress ships the order and tells me it was shipped in "in temp controlled vehicles" when it actually wasn't. As a final insult, it then doesn't refund for a damaged order when they said they would, requiring me to dispute the charge with my credit card provider.
WineExpress exhibits incredibly poor business practices, treats customers poorly, and ends up wasting fine wine. In sum, a very disappointing experience with WineExpress.
I wrote a review a few days ago about having to fight for a refund with WineExpress. I had ordered a $130 wine gift basket for a client. When it arrived, it was like $10 worth of Ghiradelli chocolate. No wine. No snacks. I had to contact their customer service multiple times just to get someone to respond to me. After I sent them a picture of what I received, they responded a few days later saying they would issue a refund. That was like 2 weeks ago. They FINALLY refunded my money. So, while I still do not suggest dealing with them, at the end of the day they eventually did the right thing.
This company is a scam. I was asked to order a nice wine gift basket for a client for the New Year. I ordered one that was about $120. It had 3 bottles of wine, a bunch of snacks and some chocolate. First of all, when it shipped, there was no tracking information. Any business these days will absolutely give you tracking with an order of that amount. Second, when it arrived it was a tiny mixed box of Ghiradelli chocolates. That's it! Zero wine. No other snacks. This box was worth around $10. I contacted the company immediately and said I want to return it for a refund. I didn't want a replacement because I wouldn't have it in time. They asked me to send a picture of what I received. I did and didn't hear anything back. I followed up with them twice over the next week and finally got a response thanking me and saying they will process a return. That was over two weeks ago. No refund. I have tried following up about 5 times since then because I am really annoyed and want to be done with them but now I can't get any response. This is a scam. They probably do this with everyone. Send them something of very little value so that they can't say that you literally stole their money and it was "Just a Mistake". This company is awful and I seriously wish I would have looked at this site before ordering. However, I was asked to order it as I was literally leaving the office for Christmas vacation. The site looked reputable enough with decent prices. I was horribly wrong.
We have had multiple orders that Wine Express bills and we have paid but they never send the wine.
This is a scam.
Would be happy to upload PDF documents with all of the order information but you website will not accept.
I purchased 3 wines from them. Never arrived. They do not answer to emails. I have waited over an hour for an operator. Finally used the instruction to get a call back. Never received a call back. The on-line chat has extensive wait time and finally kicks you out. Do not buy from this outfit.
01Jul19-Placed online order for a wine shown to be out of stock everywhere else.
07Jul19-AmEx Billed $238.24 Vendor asserts order shipped on 05Jul19 by USPS **************145 (missing 2 digits of the usual 22). USPS does not accept wine shipments per Pub 52.422
08Jul19-Chatted with Katrina at 0953. Said it was already shipped and to simply refuse delivery if I want to cancel. Could not say which carrier has it. But 3 minutes into my 4-minute chat, my UPS App suddenly announces an "Order Processed: Ready For UPS" estimating 12Jul19 delivery. Amazing! Online record at 1655 says "We're sorry but due to overwhelming demand this wine is no longer available." But order status is still "Shipped to [me]" under a phony USPS tracking number and is fully paid.
I leave the reader to analyze these facts. If my UPS Tracking entry is accurate, I will have delivery on 12Jul19. If not, I will not be waiting for my refund because AmEx can handle it.
I placed order and was charged. Shipment was lost by the carrier. I had to fight for a credit. Then the shipment delivered so I called to inform them so they could reverse the credit. The rep said don't worry about it. Then the rep sent me a note saying they would re-charge my credit card. Believe it or not, they then sent UPS to come pick up the delivered wine. After all this I get a very nasty note from a woman by the name of Ms. Nancy Adornato telling me that it was me who requested the wine to be picked up. No one at WineExpress has a clue what they are doing. Order from a reputable company!
Order Dec 15th
Label created by shipper Dec 19th
Item has not been picked or shiiped Dec 30.
WineExpress cant tell me why and blames shipper... Shipper cant tell me why and blames WineExpress for not getting item picked up.
Terrible customer service on the phone by WineExpress.

Ordered Oct 1, it is now Oct 22, still on hold after 20 minutes. I think this is a criminal enterprise, period.
I pre-paid for an entire year wine membership club for one of my relatives. After 2 months they said they're cancelling that wine club and if I wanted to continue shipments I would have to join one of their "new" more expensive clubs and pony-up an extra $300.
The other reviews are spot-on. There is nothing Express about this company. Both orders were shipped very late. Their shipment tracking program has not worked for any of the shipments. If you want to talk to customer service, good luck. They have one person, Stacy Cabello, that handles all the correspondence. She is not only slow at responding but is an absolute moron when it comes to how she treats customers. I hope this company ends up going bankrupt for treating people this way. If you buy wine from them after reading these reviews it is your own fault.
Tip for consumers:
Buy at your own peril.
I was ready to press the order button - $510 of champagne. I Read the review and will shop elsewhere. Thank you, but I am sorry you had to take the hit for the team.
I noticed a number of poor reviews on line and thought, is be the same site I am using?
I have ordered multiple times / multiple cases and have been extremely happy with the description and rating of what I planned to purchase. Each order has shipped within one day and delivered to me in PA in 2 days. Pricing is competitive and I have picked up things unavailable to me locally. I can't speak to the gift baskets as I only purchase wine. I will continue to order from WE.
I placed an order for some champagne as a gift to a friend from out of state. I found this site and decided to order it from them and have it shipped to my friend. The order was placed on the 9th. I was speaking with this friend yesterday and asked her if she received the champagne I sent. She notified me that no shipment ever arrived. Now its the 27th and I contact wine express customer service. They inform me that because of weather no shipments have gone out. I understand there is no predicting mother nature but there was nothing stating that my shipment might be held up for 3+ weeks.
There is also no email notification letting their customers know of this issue or offering of a refund if the item was intended for someone else. I just happened to remember I had ordered it and verified they never shipped the item I paid for.
This was my first experience with wineexpress.com and my last! There are far better companies to make these purchases that have far superior customer service, o have customer service to begin with.
I placed an order with WineExpress.com, waited patiently for over a week, then emailed customer service to see why I had not received my wine. Finally, I got an email telling me that my order had just shipped (eight days later). After ten days, I checked with UPS, thinking maybe my order was lost somewhere in their system. No. It still had not been sent by WineExpress.com. Kind of ironic, isn't it - the Express part? Today, I have still not received my wine nor a response to any of my emails from customer service. According to UPS, WineExpress still has not sent the order. My credit card was charged the day I place the order, though! There are so many wine sellers online. I recommend that you choose another one.
When you buy wine online you need to be sure that the company is actually storing the wine properly as you cannot see the bottles in advance and you want to make sure the shipping is also done well and packaged properly so the wine arrives in good shape. This company does a great job of shipping and the value is also very good. They have a wide selection of wines and if you sign up for their newsletter they send some good deals.
