Verified purchase

I searched the Groupon website for tickets to Seattle's Space Needle and chose tickets for six people. When I attempted to purchase and entered my cc info and selected "order" the website stalled. I waited and waited and finally hit the back button and tried entering the info again. It seemed to go through but I found that I had purchased six tickets to the One World Observatory in New York! I did not search for New York and had no intention of going there. I assumed this would not be a problem and that Groupon would refund my purchase. I went through the process again - this time successfully. I asked Groupon to reverse the One World tickets but they refused. Finally, a supervisor said if I got permission from One World to refund the money they would do so. In the meantime, I went back to the successful Space Needle tickets and canceled them all as I did not want to deal with Groupon. Groupon refunded the purchase for all six.
I asked One World in writing if my money could be refunded and they responded with a very nice letter giving Groupon permission to refund the purchase. Groupon went back on their statement the charge would be reversed and refused to do so.
I filed a credit card chargeback. Groupon told Capital One that ticket sales are final and no refunds are provided. Obviously this was not true as the charge for the successful Space Needle tickets, which had the same "All sales are final" language was reversed. It simply is not right to keep money for something purchased by a consumer which they had no intention of buying or no way to use.

Ordered flowers for a sick relative and Teleflorist had no problem charging me 40 euros but never delivered the flowers. I finally gave up and went with a local shop. Teleflorist finally issued a refund when I threatened to request a chargeback from my credit card company

I had $300 worth of wine which of course required a signature. They claim they made 3 attempts to deliver but there was only one tag on the door and I was home all day on the other days they claim attempts were made. I called the second day after the tag was left but they already returned the package. This is the second time they have failed to deliver. I think they use subs who could care less about your package.

I've used UPS 25 years. In the beginning they paid for items they damaged as long as it was reasonably packed. At some point, likely after they went public in 1999, they stopped paying no matter how obvious it was they had unreasonably damaged an item. I once ordered an outboard that looked like it had been been delivered by dragging it behind the truck and I refused to accept it. The dealer told me UPS denied the claim but he refunded my money anyway and said since this had happened before he was no longer selling outboards online. I recently bought a marine toilet shipped by a factory which sells hundreds and it arrived just fine as packed by the factory. It didn't fit so I repacked it exactly how it arrived and UPS charged me $150 to return it. It arrived in pieces. Think about the force required to break a porcelain toilet! This is not negligence it is abuse. UPS denied my claim stating I was advised to add additional packing. This was not true - all I was told was they had a box the original would fit in which I elected and I was covered up to $500. Now I'm out $650.

  • Pitney Bowes

Our small law office used Pitney Bowes for years. I always thought their machine leases and fees were outrageous, but it was what we had and stayed with It. In addition their deposit and reserve system, billing and Website were so difficult to use it seemed deliberate. When we closed our office to retire I contacted PB and asked the account be closed and any funds remaining in reserve account (all cost had to be paid in advance) to be refunded. I received a check for our "Purchase Power" account, whatever that was, and thought no more about it. Over a year later we got a statement from PB that $130 remaining In a "reserve account" had been confiscated to pay an administrative fee for doing absolutely nothing. I called and sure enough they had a record of the cancellation of the account but informed me we were required to make a specific written request for a refund of what was essentially our money and no reimbursement would be made. In my opinion this is nothing short of theft and I can't help but wonder how much PB has collected over the years by confiscating funds that do not belong to them. I am not alone - PB has dismal reviews all over the Internet. There are less expensive alternatives, find them and avoid Pitney Bowes.

After some initial repairs I gave Ritchie $800 to pay for parts and rebuilding a heat exchanger. I drove 200 miles to meet him at the boat and he failed to show and I never saw or heard from him again despite many attempts to reach him. While there is recourse against dishonest auto mechanics in California there is nothing one can do about marine mechanics who commit fraud.

We like their shoes and bought some at the shop. They send out a lot of 2 for 1 email and we ordered two pair for $167. Nearly three months ago. Emails responses have been "two weeks" sorry we were closed for the holidays" and "in the next days." I would stay away.

We finally received the shoes and while my wife loved hers mine were not the size I had ordered. Rather than continue to beat my head against the wall I gave them to a friend that could wear them and so received his good karma.

Only received 1/2 of what I ordered and paid for and shipping was slow to begin with. No response to email. I called and was promised Fedex overnight delivery. Six days later and that did not happen either. Called again and was told they could not overnight because they are "too busy in the summer. " Like that makes any sense. So by the time I get what I ordered it will be nearly a month.
