I manage an account IRA for my mom, I have had power of attorney previously and decided to move the account to E*TRADE to keep it separated from my other accounts... That started the worst thing I ever experienced in customer service. They took the money, but would not recognize the notarized signed power of attorney forms I already a had, wanted it on their own forms. Went to the notary, had all the papers signed and notarized, didn't like where my name was,,,,, told me to move my name from co owner to agent, which I did, paid a notary again to notarize the forms again, mailed them in and now they say there is still some problem! The worst part is, I can not do anything with the money, cant buy, sell, withdraw NOTHING! And the worst part, the most insane part they wont tell me whats wrong without my 90 year old mother on the phone who lives 20 miles away, hard of hearing! She has already on a recorded line authorized me as power of attorney to them yet they continue to throw hurdles which prevent any action to happen with the account... over one month and still waiting until tomorrow to see if I can get someone to tell me wtf is the problem now! Stay away from this trade platform, the worst incompetent people you ever had to deal with! Update on 8/16/21 now, after all these hoops etrade made me jump through, they tell me that for the 3rd time they need to speak to my 90 year old hard of hearing mother again! This will be the 3rd time, notarized paperwork for power of attorney in their hands and here is another hoop they want me to jump through before anything can be touched with the money! Stay away my friends stay far far away from this brokerage, they dont know what they are talking about and have no regard for you or your money in spite of them saying " I am sorry about that" over and over again... 31 days and counting since they took my mothers money hostage!
