Hopefully I can save a few of you from a bad decision to switch to Koodo. Yes like banks and cable providers most cellular companies are near the same and usually crap but it seems Koodo is topping that list of the worst cellular providers in Canada.

I made the mistake to switch to Koodo ( A Telus company) after I received an unpleasant increase in my monthly plan after 20 years of loyalty to another provider. Why I'm dumping Koodo just 5 days into my sign-up is an absolutely appalling practise of wanting to charge it's new customers for service before Koodo is actually providing access to the network or service. I called and signed up to Koodo through their call centre. They advised they would be sending a sim card via mail (not courier)(Shaw sends there's by courier) and once I receive the sim card you can port your current number over and get running on the Koodo network. I received notification 2 days after my call that the sim card has been mailed and after a weekend and 5 days later I received the sim card. I just received my Koodo bill today that invoices me for service from the first day I called and talked to the call centre even though I din't get on their network for 5 days after because they didn't ship the sim card right away, because they choose to send it by regular mail instead of courier...etc. Thank god the sim card didn't get lost in the mail I guess I might pay for weeks of service without any sim card!

I called their customer service and explained my displeasure, the call taker said she understood my thoughts but could I hold. 25 minutes later she returned to the call to say I'm sorry but we can't credit the $4.67 charge for the 5 days as that's just their policy! Yes it's less then $5 but it's the matter that a company is wanting to charge for a service they aren't delivering! The agent said that policy would have been explained on my initial call and I replied I don't care what your policy is, what was mentioned in the oodles of information discussed during the initial call, how can a company charge for this when they weren't even expeditious in getting the sim card into my hands?

Koodo is less expensive but also suffers from a poor quality of reception and service performance.

Therefore I know with business principles like this I would be in for even more headaches down the road. Save yourself from the headaches and go with a more ethical cellular provider than Koodo.

Shaw Communications failure to honour incentive pricing offered to customers. An inability to resolve disputes of basic business principles. New equipment malfunctions.

A completely dissatisfied new customer experience. I was offered an attractive price and service package to bring my business back after a 6 month departure from Shaw and even though three Shaw agents have listened to the taped call that details the offer and acceptance of the promotional pricing plan, no one is able to honour the agreement.

Now after just 3 weeks of service I have two malfunctioning cable boxes, a higher price package then i agreed to and 8-9 calls to the "customer and so called technical service departments wasting no less than 6-8 hours of my personal time with no resolution. On three occasions call takers have "requested" supervisors to contact me or to participate in the current call with no contact from anyone with authority to resolve this matter. I have plainly asked what do we do now with a new 2 year contract initiated with pricing that is higher than agreed to (reviewed and documented by Shaw staff) and yet no one at SHAW has a solution.?

I am now out a significant amount of money cancelling my previous, relatively new service provider that I went to six months ago when I wisely left Shaw. Now shame on me yes for getting duped into a return to Shaw with an attractive offer they seem to have NEVER intended to honour.

This is not a he says / she says dispute. The calls and offers were taped and reviewed by Shaw staff and verified they were offered to me but no one seems to be able to action it. Now, for three weeks I have cable TV that doesn't work despite remote attempts to reset and correct the malfunctioning boxes and yet they still want me to pay for services not provided which are inflated and not agreed to.

Shaw is quick to forward to its collection agencies and to courts to retrieve money from failed obligations by its customers but doesn't seem to be accountable when the roles are reversed. I am now in dispute as to how to proceed with a 2-year obligation I didn't agree to. I am out a few hundred dollars from my previous provider's termination obligation and I will also fees to reconnect with a honourable, reputable provider I should have remained with.

The most absurd part of this is there appears to be no way to speak with anyone with authority to resolve this. Unlike Telus or other service providers you cannot ask, demand or request, while speaking with a call center representative, to speak with a supervisor. Twice in the last three weeks I held over 45 minutes on each occasion in hopes of speaking with a supervisor only to have the call taker say "I'm sorry, they don't seem to be available."

We had poor customer service years ago with Telus and always said we would never go back but SHAW takes unacceptable customer service to an entirely new level.

Terrible platform and even worse customer support. On 2 occasions I have made a mistake creating a profile on Meetup.com. Two years ago and then just recently my profile has been blocked and removed under their "suspected spam" when all I was doing was sending a few messages not many and sending to group organizers not members suggesting an event. My profile isn't a company or soliciting anything. Each time I have wasted 2 years building my account only to have it removed and no one in meetup will answer why this happened or assist with recovery. Just no answers to my repeated requests for assistance. I don't think they employ any real humans on the other end of this platform... DON'T waste your time here.

  • Groupon CA

When Groupon first started it was full of wonderful deals and enthusiasm was high. Years later most customers shops don't want to really deal with Groupon they just want to use the platform to Market their products and in lieu of utilizing Groupon deals they would rather deal directly with the customer. After a few years of not using Groupon I tried it again recently with four or five purchases and found three of my deals the businesses had closed within a month of purchasing the deal. Couldn't even get a refund on one of them and was told I'd have to use it as a credit. Suggest many other sources for Great Deals out there Groupon is a has-been that should be buried.

4/27/17

We were debating using Keycafe for 2 rental properties. Just as we almost convinced ourselves to use this service (which we only needed 4 months of the year for tourism however they only offer an option of a 12 month subscription) we definitely said no way when they instituted a key pick-up fee of $4.00 every time someone picks the keys up. In our case that meant $20-$40 a month on top of their subscription fee.

So we went and asked the local business next door to handle our keys which they offered to do for free as we do business with them anyways.

Good luck KEYCAFE you'll need it. Ridiculous rates!
