I've been a LightInTheBox customer for a couple of years but had only ordered t-shirts for people as gifts. I recently downloaded the app on my Android phone so I could take advantage of the additional discounts, sales and rewards that are not available when ordering online. I was thrilled with the discounts I received on my very first in-app order. (I also subscribed to their Gold Membership so I could take advantage of the MUCH lower shipping rates.)

Once I had the app installed, I found myself spending time scrolling through their Flash Sale items just for fun. Flash Sales are discounted items are marked down even lower for a limited time (usually 24 hours). Some of the bargains were too good to pass up so even though I expected lower quality on items costing between $2 and $5 (CAD), I decided to take a chance.

With a flat rate of $7.50 for shipping, I loaded up my cart and took a chance. The first order showed up with everything looking exactly as it did in the photos. The electronic gadgets were all in working order, the clothing items were well sewn and nothing was broken, defective or cheap looking! I was now completely confident about placing subsequent orders.

This particular order arrived ahead of schedule, well packaged, nothing damaged, nothing missing and everything looking and working exactly as promised. One of the items in particular left me absolutely thrilled. There was a custom-made t-shirt on the flash sale for only $8.51 (CAD). For that price I decided to take a chance and uploaded a photograph to be printed onto a t-shirt for my husband.

The price included a photo on the front AND the back. Since the photo I was using was of an abstract painting my husband made, I decided to put a mirror image of the painting on the back so the colours would line up at the shoulders and it would look like you were seeing the painting through the back of the canvas. I came out perfect! The colours are bright and look just like they did in the photo.

I haven't washed the t-shirt yet but it feels like a good quality and it's made from polyester so I'm sure it'll last. I'm honestly so happy with the end results that I can hardly wait for the custom t-shirts to go on sale again!

I ordered two bottles of ear cleaner from Ren's Pets for my dog. Since I was paying $14 for shipping and handling, I added a few low-priced, light-weight items to the order. Much to my surprise, I received a box containing the light-weight items but the bottles of ear cleaner that I really needed weren't there. There was no mention anywhere of there being a backorder so I tried to check for information online. There was no way to check the order status since I hadn't opened an account.

I called and left a detailed message asking about the missing items and shortly after that I received an email from someone named Amanda saying the following: "they were on back order and since the back order total was under $20.00 they were cancelled"

I replied to Amanda with the following: "I really appreciate the quick reply but I don't understand. Why would you cancel part of the order without even advising me instead of just waiting and shipping everything I ordered together? If I place another order for the ear cleaner now, your website will charge me shipping again and that's not fair. Please either ship me the two bottles of ear cleaner that I ordered or credit me the full price of the shipping and handling and I will place the order again."

Amanda immediately replied with the following: "Now in the e-mails we send for the confirmation of your order we do mention towards the bottom that any backordered items that are under $20.00 they cancelled and you are not charged for them. I do apologize but since they have been cancelled as mentioned we can't ship them out."

It's a really bad business practice to charge someone $14 for the shipment of four light items and two heavy ones and then simply choose not to deliver the two heavier items, without even so much as notifying the client!

I replied to Amanda pointing out that Ren's Pets could've made this right and gained a loyal customer for life. Instead they kept my $14 and hid behind the small print at the bottom of on an order confirmation…which is obviously emailed to the customer AFTER the order was confirmed.

There's no shortage of online stores that actually fulfill their orders properly. Save your money and spend it on a company that delivers ALL of the products you ordered.

Tip for consumers:
Shop elsewhere. If they choose not to fulfill their orders, nothing else matters.

Everyone gives me compliments on my blouses. Wash well and colors stay true.
