I use consumer reports all the time for major purchases. Not all the information is available for free. The site does have a pay to use setup that can be frustrating for a non member. Just when you think you find what you are looking for you click a link and that area is a pay area. There is still a lot of good information for free though!

Zillow can be just plain fun! Check out what it says about your house. Check out what it says about your brothers house. Even check out your nasty neighbors house. It can be very informative as to last sale price. Not all areas are covered. There is a real lack when it comes to rural areas.

I can NOT believe there are NO reviews for this site yet! Want some unbelievable fun in the great outdoors. Geocaching is a treasure hunt type game. Great for the entire family. All you need is a GPS unit and two feet.

The website lets you look up the GPS coordinates for caches in your area... or out of your area. It is fun to plan a day and go hunting. Take the kids, take grandma and grandpa, take the dog! The website has many useful tools to help make you successful. When you find (or don't find) a cache you can log in and write a review of your search and the cache. You can also connect with other hunters in your area.

Great service for areas where dialup is your only option. I switched from Peoplepc and am thrilled. I have had the service for almost a year now. Read the details on the website. You are NOT getting high speed all you can eat type internet service. You have download and upload limits that are imposed by the government. Be sure you understand what you are getting before you sign up.

Hughes net is NOT for gamers. There is lag time on satellite service that makes it impossible to play real time games. By the time your computer has caught up with the last persons move its too late for you to react. Don't even try it! You will be unhappy.

Hughesnet is also NOT for people who do a lot of video watching online, Downloads of movies etc. You just DON'T have the usage for it. Again, you are not going to be happy.

What Hughesnet IS good for is general browsing, checking your email, research, school work, forums, sending photos etc to family. It works great on sites like Ancestry.com where you need to look at scanned documents. So much faster than dialup.

Know what you are getting before you buy so you will not be unhappy. The website give you ALL the information you need to make your decision. They want you happy too! If you are stuck on dialup give them a chance.

The website offers a lot of different options. You get email addresses with your service. The only thing I consistently use on the website is checking where I am at on my usage. There are very helpful tools to do so and also a download for a usage meter on your desktop.

A wonderful website full of education and support for Gay, Lesbian, Transgender & Bi people and their families and friends the love them.

The site is a bit full and hard to navigate. The design is a little distracting. But the information and help it offers is invaluable. You can also use the site to find a PFLAG chapter meeting in your area.

New chapters are forming all the time so check back if your location does not have a current chapter in operation.

No, I don't work for PFLAG but sincerely appreciate the work they do!

A must know about site for Genealogy users! Social Security Death Index is invaluable! But just like everywhere else, there are mistakes in their records. Further research is always needed to substantiate what you find.

SSDI was originally run by the Soc Sec Administration, then it changed over to a rootsweb website. Now as Ancestry.com has swallowed up another Genealogical site they are now under Ancestry.com's thumb. Luckily the index has stayed FREE to everyone.

Love the online tools. Love the educational articles. Lots of stuff available that I do NOT use. Forums etc.
Weight Watchers works when you truly do the programs. Those that try and tweak the program are the ones that don't do well.
For example. I had an acquaintance join WW, she went to every meeting and did not loose weight. She was mad and kept telling everyone WW did not work. I find out later that she did not think their "points" program would work so she was counting calories instead... Duh... why bother with WW if you know so much more than them and are going to do your own thing anyway?

  • Craigslist

It depends on where you live as to your experience on Craigslist. You have to keep safety and the possibility of scams in mind. I personally have never had a bad experience with a transaction. This is one of those... if its too good to be true it probably is... kind of things. Don't set yourself up for a bad experience.

If you are doing genealogical research in Washington State! It does not get any better than this! When doing a search, less is more!

If you are looking for a death certificate - be sure to use spelling variations - Don't just try Sam Smith... try Sam S... try Sam Smy etc. Sometimes a partial name search will turn up your person when a whole name search does not. Its the nature of old records to have things spelled in strange ways.

  • Facebook

Facebook can be fun. But if your friends are boring your experience will be boring. Not facebooks fault. Get better friends!

  • Ancestry

Ancestry.com has a wealth of information to glen. But the content of other members trees is so polluted with bad information that just gets passed from person to person. One of my main complains is site rules. They laxly enforce their own rules. People post stolen photos and it is like pulling teeth to get Ancestry to address the issue.

Cost is extreme for what you get. They have become a giant that has swallowed up true genealogy work and turned genealogy into a fad. Quality is gone, quantity is in!
