Mark Goodfield is a really funny guy and that in the end is what makes reading his blog a ritual for me. The information is great too, though information these days is everywhere. The best information is delivered with some sugar or in his case sarcasm sometimes.

  • Financial Executives Daily

This blog is more like a collection of worthy news stories geared for the financial executive, think of it as WSJ minus the news and focusing purely on the financial stories. Worth a bookmark and a daily read.

  • Evergreen Small Business

I recommend Stephen L. Nelson blog to both small business owners and CPAs. Small business owners can really benefit from reading this blog and then asking their CPA if it applies to them. Really useful information.

Rea & Associates is a huge accounting firm and they answer questions posed to them by the public and even by other CPAs. Great resource because their firm is so large someone over there knows that particular subject matter well.

  • Sleeter

Doug Sleeter has amassed an empire of both accountants and small businesses. Their website is one to follow and their seminars are fantastic. Webinars are also useful.

  • Accounting Today

I think the most useful parts of accounting today are the digital edition for convinience reading on the train or their webinars. The website I find hard to navigate to find information I need, but it is still a great resource.

Tom Selling is one of the premiere educators on the topic of accounting and finance. It is a newer blog but he has pearls of wisdom in there and it is worth a read.

  • Big 4

Big4.com is a good site for job searches within the field assuming you are somewhat or have been affiliated with the big firms in the past. For new job seeker, getting a position at one of the big firms has this type of advantage as many employers like seeing that a big firm at one point in your career thought you were good enough to hire and trained you.

David Phillips is a very well known source in the industry and has been featured on top news agencies which is how I found his blog. He is worth subscribing to though the amount he actually blogs seems to vary and isn't one of those every week type of blogger. Quality over quantity I think is his aim for the blog.

  • Accounting Principals

I have known people who said they got good jobs from this site, but you need to be persistent and it also depends where you live. Great place to post a resume and land work.

  • TSheets

The problem everyone who I recommend ADP for payroll and clock ins is that when you go mobile or even work from home, the ADP and other clock in services can't really regulate whether your employees are really working or where they are located. All it records is if you log into their site and click a button. The genius part of TSheets is the GPS part of the program. You can see where employees are located and when they clock in.
