This is about Roys Transmission 4008 N Redmond Ave, Bethany, OK *******,
Initially, they were going to rebuild the transmission on my 2015 Mazda but later called me with information the parts were not available so a factory remanufactured transmission was necessary. I gave the ok and they called me about a week later. Now, however, the rest of the now BAD story follows. As initially posted they installed a factory remanufactured transmission. When we picked up the car there was some unusual clanking but was told this is just the transmission "settling". I was good with that. But on the drive home and for several weeks there was a very unusual vibration that corresponded to the shift of automatic transmission as it progressed through to the drive gear, at which point while diminished (until you slowed down) it was still there driver. And the unusual and very loud "clanking" remained when putting it in gear from park, and vice-versa. After several weeks I took the vehicle back and explained the above. About an hour later he called me and said it was resolved. I was told the linkage just need to be adjusted and the vibration was due to a misaligned bracket causing the engine to rest against the exhaust manifold. When my son drove the car home, yes the vibration was gone, but it sounded like the exhaust system had a hole in it. And the check engine light came on. So, we turned around and went back. His son told me, he thought it was an after-market exhaust when he heard it? Wait WHAT? How did that happen, it was not like that when I brought it in? Did the magic header fairy suddenly show up with after-market exhaust? He said he would pull it in and check it. He pulled it into a bay looked at it. Returning to tell me it looked like the exhaust manifold was cracked (without explanation) but they would be happy to repair it for parts cost only. So, I said sure order the parts- which was to take about a month (this was in May). Now the end of July l received no phone call the parts were in, or it is delayed. So, I took the car to another, larger shop and asked them to diagnose the problem… long story short, the exhaust manifold IS cracked, another $1700 dollars on top of the original $3600. I asked them how they thought it happened? His response "it looked like someone was prying against the manifold with a crowbar or something for alignment and cracked the manifold. "So now you have the story, you be the judge. Trust your car there, or not?

As can be seen in the photo exhaust was leaking around the heat shield by the break and in the other photograph, one can see the damage to the mesh surrounding the exhaust.

This post is a FOLLOW-UP to my prior review. While I would challenge the responses, based on the assessment by two other shops and examining the removed part, I did have a meeting with the owner and his son regarding the issue related to the exhaust. I showed them the removed piece, and after some discussion, the owner and I came to a satisfactory resolution for the exhaust manifold, and we all shook hands. I am satisfied Roy, the owner, does very much value customer relations and seeks to make things "right." Based on this, I would be willing to give them another chance should I need transmission work on either of my other vehicles. On a pleasant note, I was very happy to see there is a business owner who can have an adult discussion and value customer relations. Thank you for that, Roy.

Tip for consumers:
Make certain of the terms and inspect work. If you are not mechanically inclined and you have an issue, take your car to an independent shop for a professional assessment. If they repair the "repair" keep the old part.
