Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) currently affects 18 million Americans. There are countless other cases around the world. This is not solely an American problem it is a global issue. PAD is a chronic disease that arises when the arteries that supply oxygen-enriched blood to the body become blocked. PAD can be caused by the accumulation of cholesterol, calcium, and plaques on the internal walls of the arteries. This is especially true for the arteries that supply the extremities.
