About Me

I'm a huge bargain shopper, nerd, and outdoor enthusiast. I work at a summer camp and love it! I'm always looking for good deals on summer clothes and running apparel, and I usually spend a lot of time looking at reviews before ordering things, which is why I choose to write reviews here!

  • Swagbucks

3/8/17

I've earned one or two 5-10 dollar gift cards on this website over the few years I've been a member. If you really want to make money on here, you need lots of free time. Some of these surveys require a person to be 18 or a member of something or an owner of a certain product. It takes a long time to find a survey that a person actually qualifies for, and sometimes they don't even give very many points for those. Most of the points I get are from the daily poll or the Swag codes that are occasionally found on FaceBook or email. If you get a gift card code, they work, but they are just hard to get in general. Basically, they are what they say they are, but there are easier and more effective ways to make money.

  • Victoria's Secret

3/8/17

I've bought several undergarments from VS and PINK. While I was told by an online representative that panties from PINK should be sized the same as panties from VS, the panties I got from PINK do not fit the same. I should have gotten a different size or style. There are lots of cute undies at the store though. I've liked several of the products I've gotten from Victoria's Secret and they have survived the washing machine for a while now, but the panties I got from PINK just aren't my favorite. They look cute but just fit kinda funny. Prices are kind of high for some items, but if you catch it on sale, it's worth it. It's not my favorite store, but I'm still planning on shopping there again every once in a while.

  • Grammarly

I use the free version of grammarly (while I'd love more capability that the paid one gives, I just don't want to spend the money) and I use it primarily for finding simple grammar/spelling mistakes in essays for college/applications/school assignments. It's helped me fix lots of little problems that would have counted off a few points in school, so I could even say it's helped my grades. I installed the web app of it also (on my MacBook) and I haven't experienced any problems. I noticed that some other reviewers complained of hidden fees in the "free" version, but I've never experienced that. I've been using it for a bit longer than a year. Overall, I've recommended it to people already and I plan to continue recommending it unless something comes up. So far, this app has proven very helpful for me.

I purchased a pair of women's Patagonia baggies (shorts) from Geartrade. I had never heard of the website so I was a little worried it may be a scam, so I checked several review websites online before I bought anything. Most reviews were good, although there were one or two of course who had a bad experience either with a seller or with customer service. My order was shipped very soon (I think the day after) I ordered it, and it arrived on my doorstep 4 days after. The shorts were in "like-new" condition as previously described on the webpage and I have been very satisfied with the order overall. I bought them for a little over half price of the new retail price and they were SO worth it.
In conclusion, I would recommend this website. It's very similar to eBay, so it's wise to check the reliability of sellers before buying, but I loved my experience with Geartrade. I will probably buy from them again!

  • EasyBib

3/31/16

I use the free version of Easybib and it's always worked pretty well for me. I've used it for writing English papers, history papers, and pretty much any other papers I write(usually MLA format). The reason I put 4 stars instead of five, though, is because often I have found that Easybib can't find the information for citations and neither can I, and also because sometimes MLA format can be shown in slightly different ways and Easybib sometimes writes it in a way slightly different from how the teacher/professor wants it. Other than minor problems, it's been a great resource for me and saves me a ton of time.

  • Etsy

3/20/16

I've ordered a couple of items from etsy in the last year or two. I see etsy as a sort of eBay for unique handmade items, and I've found some really neat things on the website. I've never had problems with any of the sellers or with packaging/shipping, but I would recommend looking at the seller's reviews to make sure it's not a scam or anything before buying.

  • iTunes

3/20/16

I use iTunes quite often to buy music and sometimes tv shows, too. The only problem I have with iTunes is the prices for most of the music and tv shows. I've often found songs/albums much cheaper on other sites like Amazon.com. I mean, of course you can find all the songs cheaper somewhere but it's often illegal to download those, but I think that $1.29 at iTunes for a single song is a little much. However, sometimes I do find good songs in the $0.69 playlists. Overall, it's a good place to get music and shows, but it's best to look other places too so that you can find the best price.

  • Netflix

3/20/16

For less than $10 a month, Netflix is pretty dang cool. Honestly, I wish they had certain movies/tv shows like Star Wars and such, but they have plenty of things to keep you busy with your tv for hours and hours and hours. There are some good old shows on here and I've even heard that the Netflix original shows are pretty good, too. Doctor Who is an excellent show to watch(both the original from 1963 and the new show). There are really plenty of things to watch, it just makes me sad though when I search for a certain movie/show and it's not there... sometimes they get rid of shows, too, so I suppose it's good to watch it while it's there!

  • Spotify

3/20/16

I used to use Pandora, but I was annoyed that I couldn't choose what song to listen to when I wanted. Then a friend told me about Spotify and I decided to get an account and I use it every day now. I didn't buy the "premium" membership because the ads and such don't really bother me and there aren't that many. However, my friend did get premium and she said that it's worth it. I don't think I'll pay for premium but I love Spotify so much because they have a TON of music to listen for free and I save money because I don't have to buy all the music. Or if you do buy music, you can listen on Spotify to see if you really want to buy it. Anyway, I think Spotify is pretty great. Obviously.

  • 6DollarShirts

2/21/16

I got a cool Doctor Who shirt from here for my best friend. Shipping was expensive (but it is everywhere), but for a $6 shirt, it's still a good deal. The shirt was not made super-cheaply, which impressed me. My friend has worn the shirt many times and it's still in good condition. They have a large selection of shirts, too, so that was cool. Shipping didn't take too long, although I wouldn't say it was fast. I'll probably buy from them again.

  • Quizlet

I've used this site many times to study for vocabulary tests and even semester exams. It's helped me a lot. I've used the app some too, but it is harder to use and when I used it there were a few minor glitches. Overall, this is a great site for studying and I'd recommend it for anybody, especially the web version.

  • RedBox

2/21/16

I've used Redbox many times, and I've watched lots of good movies from it. I wish that they had a better selection of older movies, but I can understand the demand for new titles. It doesn't cost too much and sometimes there are coupons, so I'd say it's definitely worth using. I haven't had much trouble with dvds being scratched or damaged. I don't think Redbox is as good as Blockbuster, but since there are no Blockbuster's around anymore, Redbox works well enough.

  • Fox River

I've bought 4 pairs of socks from this company, and I'm pleased with all of them. They tend to be pretty expensive, but they do go on sale sometimes and they are very good socks. I got some with mostly merino wool and they're really nice and they fit well. I usually have trouble finding socks that fit my feet right, because I have small feet and most socks end up being too big, even when the size range includes my size. These socks have a lot of support and they're really comfortable.
The website's customer service is also really good. I emailed them once asking for stickers (I am collecting stickers) and they answered promptly and when I got the stickers in the mail, they also sent a 50% off coupon. They came quickly in the mail, too. I would recommend Fox River socks to anyone. They're great!

  • Amazon

2/11/16

I've used Amazon more times that I can count. When I see something I want on another website, I look at Amazon first to see if they've got a better deal. Often, Amazon has better prices, and they've got plenty of brands to choose from and lots of reviews to look at.
It's wise to look into the company you're ordering from if it's not directly through Amazon, because the products may not be good quality. However, I've ordered indirectly through Amazon many times and I've been perfectly happy with what I've gotten. Also, take a look at the shipping time, because I've ordered several things from China before through Amazon and it took a month to get to my house. I didn't mind waiting, but some do.
Overall, Amazon is a great place to shop around for deals, and they've got a great selection. I'll definitely be buying from them again and I'd recommend it to anybody.

I found this site while looking for a deal on Eagles Nest Outfitters hammocks, which tend to be quite expensive(but definitely worth it). I love the outdoors and I work at a summer camp, which means my gear gets a lot of wear and tear, so I wanted to get a reliable brand of hammock. ENO is a great brand, and Backcountry Edge had a great deal on ENO stuff. I ordered a DoubleDeluxe ENO for about the same price as a SingleNest. SingleNest hammocks usually run about $60, and typically DoubleDeluxe hammocks are $20-$30 more, but I found it on sale here, so I went ahead and ordered it. I also ordered straps for the hammock, which brought my order total to close to $100. Along with my order, I got a free Backcountry Edge t-shirt, which is now one of my favorite shirts (it is one of the most comfortable shirts I own). The order arrived in the time that they said it would, and it was well packaged with original tags and such. I don't have anything bad to say about Backcountry Edge, and I'll likely be ordering from them again. I am a very satisfied customer. I've had my gear from them for around 7 months now, and it's still working great.

  • Brooks Sporting

2/8/16

I've had a pair of Brooks shoes for a while now, and they've been great shoes. They have plenty of support for my sensitive arches and they're just great running shoes overall. However, the reason I wanted to write a review for them is more related to their customer service. I've never ordered from the website (I bought the shoes in-store), but I did email the company once, telling them how I liked the shoes and asking for a bumper sticker (I collect them). They quickly replied, and they were not only quick but also extremely friendly. They told me they'd send me some Brooks fan stuff. Just about 3 days later, I got a package in the mail of a Brooks beanie, two stickers, a bracelet with the logo, a little bag with the "run happy" slogan, and a temporary tattoo. I'm very impressed.

  • TheClymb

5/4/15

I found some Mizuno shoes on The Clymb recently and they were over 50 percent off, so I bought them. I have had the older version of the same shoe for a long time, so I needed a new pair, and I knew which size. If you don't know your shoe size, I would recommend going to a store to try the shoes on before ordering from The Clymb since they may run out of the correct size for you if you order the wrong size and then try to exchange shoes. Their sales do not last long, so you kind of have to snatch up the sales that you find, because they have limited quantities. However, if you are looking for great deals on expensive outdoor/athletic wear, this is the place to look. My order took from The Clymb took only 2 days to ship and then it took 4 business days to get to my house. It isn't the fastest shipping, but it was free because of a deal that they had when I ordered. I was totally satisfied when I got them. The Clymb had also added a couple of coupons and samples of a variety of things in the shipment, which was a pleasant surprise. If I need to order some outdoor gear, then I will probably use The Clymb again. I recommend buying from The Clymb if you like deals and you don't mind spending a while looking.

I ordered Chaco shoes from PlanetShoes 10 days ago, and I got them today. The website said that they would ship in 2-3 days, but it took nearly a week. However, that is all I have to say bad about PlanetShoes. I emailed them to ask why my order hadn't shipped, and it shipped that day. The representative was also very polite and helpful. The price of the Chacos I ordered was $20 less than almost everywhere else I had seen online. They also had a great amount of choices and sizes. When I got my Chacos today, I was quite happy to see that they were in the original Chaco box. After shipping, the order only took 3 days to get here, so I was happy with that too. Overall, the order was good and I was happy with my purchase. I would recommend buying from PlanetShoes and I will probably buy from them again if I buy similar-type shoes again.

I've ordered several things from 6pm. There are lots of great deals on men's, women's, and children's clothes in lots of different brands. I am a cross-country runner, so I have bought some running clothes from 6pm. Since it is a discount site, there are many items that do not have many sizes available, but they have great deals to make up for that. Several months ago, I got a Nike swimsuit for $20 that is MSRP $60. I also ordered a Nike sports bra for $10 off MSRP and some UA running shorts for a good discounted price. Shipping is always free at 6pm, and every time I've ordered, it has only taken 2-3 days to get to my house after I ordered. I love 6pm, and I'll definitely shop there again. I usually buy something from 6pm about once a month on average. I highly recommend this site!

***UPDATE: Apparently, shipping on 6pm is no longer free, even though it has been as long as I've used it. I'm disappointed in that, but even so, I've found great deals and I'll still continue to shop there most likely.

  • thredUP

Some people may not like secondhand clothes, but thredUP has secondhand apparel that is in great condition at much better prices than you could find at other stores. I've purchased several Nike items from this site; I even got a pair of Nike cold weather running tights for $8 that the MSRP is $60! I've had the tights for a while now and I've used them a lot of times, and they are still in great shape! The shipping is pretty fast and also pretty cheap on thredUP. I've been quite satisfied with shipping policies on thredUP. I'm very happy with the purchases that I've made on this website and I recommend it for anyone who wants a good deal on name-brand clothes. I haven't sold any clothes to them, but I've heard that it takes a while to process and that they are a bit picky about what they take in. I may try to sell to them in the future if I end up with some clothes I'd like to get rid of, but I am more likely to take it to Plato's Closet, a store that we have here that gives cash when you turn in clothes. Anyway, from my experience, thredUP is a great store and I recommend it!
