Musescore advertised a "7 day free trial," which I then clicked on and uploaded payment info. I've done this before for multiple businesses, so I didn't bat an eye as it's not an unusual practice. HOWEVER, this is the first time that a business mis-advertised said free trial and straight up charged me $39.99 for what I thought was a free trial.
When I contacted Musescore, they told me that I acknowledged the terms for a non-trial (a straight up lie) and that they couldn't issue a refund — but would be so kind to give me a "reduced price."
Apparently, based on multiple other sites and Reddit, this is a very common predatory practice of Musescore's. I can't imagine that this will work out for them in the long term. They're eventually going to deal with a lawsuit because their business practices have scam written all over it.
Anyway, I successfully disputed the charge through my bank which is so much more satisfying because it negatively impacts Musescore's credit. That makes me feel a little better. :)
