I wanted to open a CD account and this bank has the best rates I could find that month. I attempted to open an account online. I submitted my driver's license several times and I kept getting emails saying they needed it again. Then I started getting emails asking for my lease, a copy of my car registration, voter registration, info that NO bank has ever asked me for. I did not send it but did reach out to them for three weeks through email, online chat support, and internal messaging. They NEVER responded.

Tip for consumers:
Try calling them. I did, but as I live in another time zone, it was not easy to reach them. They never responded through electronic means.

I have taken dozens of virtual classes here every year since it was founded. I have had some good classes and teachers, and some not so good ones that did not teach what was advertised. The company does not respond to emails and have said they would send out an evaluation of classes, but they have rarely done so. Recently, I had a class with a world class teacher that was completely off topic and a waste of 5 weeks time and money. I wrote them about the class and they did not respond, which leads me to write this review so that others will think more carefully before signing up.

Tip for consumers:
Choose your own tuition rate is lower than others in the industry, which is nice. Little to no institutional follow up or support during classes and teachers have offered specials they have not honored or responded to, multiple times.

This is a good option to check out if you drive just a few hundred miles (or less) a month. Because of working from home during the pandemic, I hardly drive. I pay about half the amount now that I paid with Geico, which is good. However, the company is literally impossible to reach by phone, email, or online robot. Plus, if you do drive much at all one month, your bill will be more than it would be with a comparable service. My partner added me to his policy and I have been trying to contact them for a week to cancel. They do not respond by email or bot, as promised, so I am now paying for two policies have spent a few hours on hold, etc. trying to reach anyone.

Tip for consumers:
If you need to make any changes to your policy, give yourself a week of lead time to reach them. And CALL, they do not respond via email or bot chat.

Connecting language learners and teachers from around the world is a great idea. The company is shady though and has questionable business practices. I had a teacher not show up for a lesson but I was still charged. Also, if you have unused credits, they keep the money after a period of inactivity. I don't think that's legal. It's like buying a gift card, those never expire, why should my iTalki credits expire? You have to purchase them in blocks of $10, $20, etc. but the lessons cost off amounts so they always make a little more. All very shady.

I am sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience with one teacher. If the teacher didn't show up, you have the option to reschedule with the teacher or get a refund. In case an agreement can't be made, you can count on us to handle the dispute. All the lesson prices are set by individual teachers on their own and italki doesn't set any price. The italki credit do expire if you haven't login to your account in the past 12 months however you can contact us to reactivate it.

They work with many major hotels to offer a student discount so people take the time and frustration to submit paperwork. I submitted my social security #, student records, official emails from the school, screenshots of my current classes showing my full name and address, etc. This took 4 FOUR hours and did not work, they did not accept it. Super frustrating and no real person to connect with. I HATE this company!

I applied for a job through their site. I was offered the job, after two interviews and lots of paperwork. On my first day of training the company rep kept asking for my bank account number to pay me and I realized it was a scam! A very well constructed one. Angel list did not respond to my numerous requests that they take the ad down and alert others who may have applied. I don't trust them.
