As we get older sooner or later we are in need of various specialists. Myself being a retired medical negligence litigator who has tried many of these cases, representing both sides, was well equipted to start my research when I was dignosed with anterior cervical spurs that were effecting my swallowing ability.

I first went to Dr. Bassewitz to get his view, and I found him to be a rare physician that not only was knowlegable but also had a great sense of humor.

But, obsessive as I am when it comes to medical treatments, I went to a neurosurgeon in Henderson for his opinion, and also Mayo Cllinic for a full workup.

After reviewing what everyone had to say and doing my own research, I decided on Dr. Bassewitz.

Why? Because his mode of treatment made the most sense. There was nothing I could find in his reccomendations that I was uncomfortable with, as opposed to both the Neurosurgeon and Mayos.

That was about 2 years ago. Cervical spine surgery, not even an overnight stay in the hospital even though it was an open surgery. An uneventful recovery, and my post surgery visit with Dr. Bassewitz was a gem. He explained to me what he did, how he did it, and was like an enthusiastic child as he explained for almost 30 min the various issues he encountered and how he dealt with them.

I will go out on a limb and say based upon my experience and medical negligence lititigation background that Dr. Bassewitz is one of the best in the Country if you need cervicial spine surgery.

To give you an example of his sense of humor. I asked if he could do the surgery on a Sunday. His response was sure, but dont you want me to spend some time with my wife and family jokingly.

I expressed my concern at the substandard hospitals in Las Vegas, and had a suggestion as to the best hospital to perform the surgery at. (see I am obsessive when it comes to medical issues), his response was he understood my concerns, but the better approach is to let the surgeon decide as if they do a lot of surgeries at a particular Hospital, they go out of their way to take care of his patients.

Finally he said if the hospital while there was any concern, all I needed to do was to call him personally and he would remedy it quickly.

Not everyone has the background and expertise to reason through finding the best physician when the time comes (as it will) that you need sophisticated medical treatment. That is why I am writing this hoping that i have made it a bit easier for some

My wife bought her vehicle at lease end. I mentioned to her that she should go somewhere other then the dealer for maintance now as dealers tend to overcharge.

She of course did not take my advice :) She brought it in for her ******* mile maintance which costs 89.00 but they decided to do a ******* mile mainance which costs 650.00.

As if that was not bad enough they noticed a ding on a tire rim and said it should be replaced. Cost of the rim replacement $825.00. Fortunately I was familiar with the auto repair business and called a rim restorer, cost 100 to 120. It did not need a new Rim.

They also suggested new front brakes along with rotor resurfacing. Cost 495 brakes +340.00 rotor resufacing for the two front wheels. To see how far off this is 1. Rotor resurfacing is done for free with brakes at most places, 2. The cost of brakes is about 250 per axle.

Now, of course we will never go to lexus of las vegas again. In addition, my wife has learned a valuable lesson. Find a good reasonable honest mechanic and get your maintance done there, not from a dealer!

I paid for a 1 year subscription, downloaded the product. Was never given a key. I have written them 3 times and no response.

Nextdoor has labeled itself as a neighborhood website. Nothing could be further from the truth.

This is a warning that if you are looking for a site where you can freely share information with neighbors without fear or censorship, NextDoor is something you should run away from.
