I bought a fairly expensive bonded cotton Mackintosh coat thinking I'd get a quality garment for years to come. Now less than three years after a large defective tear has appeared on the front side of the coat.

I contacted their customer service in hopes of getting a warranty repair or a compensation of some sort. All I got were instructions to send the coat to Scotland for an assessment at my own expense or contact the retailer, which at this point doesn't help in any way.

Mackintosh seems to take pride in quality and their garments being hand made but apparently you can get better quality garments from your local supermarket.

To avoid an expensive disappointment avoid Mackintosh.
