For iPhones, there is a setting menu where you can compare the current battery capacity to when it was new.
Not sure how much we can trust Apple with this setting, but it is there.
The "Very Good" conditioned iPhone was at 84% battery capacity when purchased.

The Orchard App is the first in a series of tests to determine the value of every used phone. The App will only test basic functionality. This is why we have the quality testing that mirrors real-world use so that we send out phones that meet or exceeds our buyers' expectations.

As these phones are finding their way to new buyers, we are very serious about making sure of the quality of the phones we are selling.

We do pretty extensive battery testing. Some of that includes a software test that calibrates the battery's charge capacity, as older phones tend to lose this capacity over time. We also check all phones against Apple's list of iPhones that are eligible for battery replacement because of known quality issues. We definitely do our best to make sure that all of our phones have a healthy battery life.

They do a complete test of your phone which includes a diagnostic on the battery. My 4s was in excellent shape.

It does do a diagnostic, but please remember as a user your battery goes down depending on what you do.

As long as you are doing the right things to your phone (don't keep the phone plugged on the charger when full, charge only when at 5-20%) they won't find any problems for your phone as a prospective seller.

Couple of things:
1: you can get battery health check apps from the App Store.
2. They test for that.
3. I tested mine with an app and it was better than my new iPad Air.
4. You have 30 days to send it back.
5. I have bought a 4S and a 5 from them. Both were excellent.
6. The big reason to buy from them is that they are trustworthy and honest people.

There is info about this on the website. It's part of their quality inspection. It the battery's capacity is below a certain threshold, they replace it.

Full diagnostic BEFORE they accept the phone. I have bought & sold several phones from Orchard and only have good things to say about their quality control.

Good question I'm not sure I think it does a diagnostic but not sure how accurate
