Question:

Can anyone tell me if this is safe? i'm worried obout it bieng illegal, or that kind of stuff. it says it's licenced, but people can say stuff that's not trure, so, thanks in advance!

Answer:

Yep, this one is OK. I've not found anything I needed on it as yet, though I did almost remember to download something once only I forgot until the next day. This is not a site for people who put things off until tomorrow (me, obviously), or who can't remember to go visit it every day to see what's new (also me). With respect to Todd, "time-limited" means that you must download and activate the software within whatever remains of the 24-hour period. There is a separate "activation key" program which has to phone home in order to work, so you need to turn off your firewall for a moment. Then you have a fully activated free copy of the software which is not a demo nor does it expire after a set time. But you can expect no tech support with it, no upgrades, and you mustn't use it for commercial purposes. The catch? Along the way you'll be "invited" at least twice to install another application and you need to be careful not to do that by accident. At the moment, it's an application called "software informer" which compares the versions of many common applications on your computer with its database of the latest versions. It will then nag you to death about getting yourself updated. This software IS a demo and clearly the company hope you'll try and buy. And it's not a bad utility, but if you already know you have older versions of software and you've a good reason for that, then having it tell you is pointless. And many people do choose to run older versions because the later ones are worse. It's not something I want to use, but I've run it in the past and if you need to be totally up-to-date all the time it's as good a way of doing that as anything.
